The new air doesn’t have 120hz? Not worth the upgrade then.
That’s the one thing I hate about the 2019 one

Was the Ipad Air always 11 inches? That's the most shocking part. Is the GPU weaker than the Pro line?
I feel ripped off for buying this 1st gen ipad air off ebay whose touch screen is giving me issues.

By Smokey Go To Postay yo where the FUCK is the apple tv 4k ;_;*shrug*
@reilo
Maybe at their next event when they announce the iPhone.
I've tried using an Apple TV recently and it frankly sucks, a lot. Think it's an older model though, but seriously not impressed.
I'm also probably gonna be disappointed with the Pixel 5, so most likely I'll be stuck getting a Samsung this year to upgrade from my Pixel XL.
Meh.

if it wasn't the 4k Apple TV, then yeah, it's old. The 4k variant is old too but it's still the best all around box when you factor in itunes 4k movies + Dolby Vision

Announcing the release date just one day before you release it is a real shitty way to treat devs who already aren't feeling great with Apple's language about devs recently anyway
They must be feeling really confident that this isn't a buggy mess like some of the prior major releases.
By reilo Go To PostThey must be feeling really confident that this isn't a buggy mess like some of the prior major releases.Going off the beta releases, the OS hasn't been terrible. They hadn't changed a huge amount.
Xcode though? Absolute fucking nightmare this summer. Slow/broken builds, changing APIs, pure fuckery

For some reason the latest is still Xcode 11.7 on the App Store 🙄
By reilo Go To PostYikes. Well, gonna have to download and install that right now anyhow. They even fucked it last night by releasing a version of the Xcode GM that couldn't publish apps, fixed quickly, but still not a good sign or feeling for devs

My work laptop is only 256GB and app development shit takes up a ton of space (fuck you, multi-gig Android emulators), so I am not fond of having to download a 10GB XCode archive right now.

Hm, last Samsung I had was an S3 and I remember it not being too hot an experience back then.
You and Smokey be praising Samsung to me doe.
iOS14 is nice. Needs more default app support, but it's pretty damn close in having anything you need now.
By reilo Go To PostHOLD UPgod is real
on tvOS 14
FUCKING FINALLY

i am pleased with my note10+
By sy Go To Postbuy me one too pls
Normally I would, but PS5+4ktv+air will have me a bit stretched the next few months haha.
Got my Apple silicon developer mac today, it's good, pretty powerful all things considered. Still early days, but I haven't really noticed any huge gaps in the software I use
By Adam Go To PostHm, last Samsung I had was an S3 and I remember it not being too hot an experience back then.If you want a phone with a headphone jack, the LG v60 Thinq is pretty nice. Too tall for my hands but legit 2-day battery life on it.

By reilo Go To PostThat's awesome. Let us know any pitfalls. I assume you are making a MacOS app?I have an iOS/iPadOS/macOS SwiftUI app that I used a learning tool to teach myself Swift. I forked an open source Chromecast lib to allow easy connection across all 3 platforms in SwiftUI, which wasn't possible at the time. Applied for the programme to make sure that lib works on Universal, and Apple were happy to let me get involved
WiFi6 is neat. I'm getting the same speed on my phone 20M away from the router than I usually get from a Ethernet connection.

Well, my absolute dealbreakers for my next phone are:
256+ storage / expandable storage
Great camera
UI decent/close to stock as possible with the least bloatware
Would be nice:
Headphone jack
Good battery
Does that qualify?
QQ
Those with high storage amounts (128GB, 256GB), how many of you actually use up enough space to need expandable storage? I got 256GB on my XS and two years later I have 160GB available and I record videos in 4K and take photos at the highest res.

By reilo Go To PostQQNot big on music streaming services so I have tons of MP3s in my phone. My Poco F2 Pro is about 2 months old and has 50GB free out of 256GB, 130GB is from audio files.

I have no need for high end phones anymore. Only thing i do is take pictures and use the browser and listen to spotify. even 4-5 year old phones can do this without any issues.
Probably grabbing the pixel 4a next month.

I wanted the Pixel 4a but they didn't have it or any of the lower cost phones with a headphone jack that were on my list. :(

I've filled my 128 on my Pixel since launch and have have to move stuff off already multiple times.

Hrmm, there's only a $150 difference between iPad Pro 11" 256GB and the new iPad Air 256GB. Then again that's the cost of the pencil.
EDIT: I forget you can use external drives now
EDIT2: If I get the iPad Pro shipped to my parents place in Oregon, I can save $80 in sales taxes, bringing the difference between the Pro and Air down to $70 or so. The iPad Air has no release date yet so I probably won't be able to get it shipped to my parents place by the time I fly back in mid-October.
EDIT3: Bought the iPad Pro 2020 256GB and the pencil. $70 price difference over the upcoming iPad Air. Decided I want the 120Hz screen and higher memory over the newer CPU (the A14 in iPad Air has 4 cores (or was it 6?) while the A12Z in the Pro has 8 cores so the Pro is most likely faster overall).
EDIT4: "The A14 in the Air 4 has only 2 performance cores compared to 4 performance cores in the A12Z/X. It will also have less GPU cores." So yea, performance wise the 2020 iPad Pro will still trounce the new iPad Air.
