The first departed employee was Google Pixel general manager Mario Queiroz who had been with Google since 2005. He led the Pixel division from the beginning and was part of the launch of Google’s very first Android device, the Nexus One, in 2010.
The second employee who has left is Marc Levoy, who was largely responsible for the Pixel cameras. An expert in computational photography, Levoy is a big reason why Pixel cameras are so highly regarded. Levoy left Google in March with no announcement.

Finally reached my breaking point with my ATT Fiber supplied gateway, which acts as a modem/router. Picked up a wifi 6 router, nighthawk ax80. Had to spend some time digging into the ATT router and enabling IP Passthrough to the AX80, and adjusting some other parameters. When I initially plugged in the AX80 into the gateway and went through the setup, it recognized another gateway/router (the ATT box), and started a wizard to configure settings on the Netgear side. The whole process wasn't as bad as I thought, and once everything was setup, I've had no issues.
Since i have Gig service i want to try WAN Aggregation, but i don't know how well itd work in my real world scenario or if the ATT gateway even supports it. Happy to be off the default box though. Everything was wired up (consoles, PC, Apple TV), but the wifi performance was horrible.

Yeah, had to get AT&T to get us a newer version of their combo modem/router because the wireless was terrible and it didn't allow us IP Passthrough to have our Eero router control the network. So many calls to so many clueless people on their support line to get that old combo modem/router replaced. Even the techs that came out to replace it didn't know wtf we were talking about. Smooth sailing since, though.

Which model did they give you? I'm on an Arris BGW210. Have had it since I got the service.

I think the timer in the native clock app is IOS' best feature by far. If you set the timer to 'stop playing', you basically have a sleep timer for all of your media playing apps. I've been loading up sitcoms at bedtime on my Ipad Pro since my TV's OS is so slow.

That's really cool! I do wish they would give you the option of multiple timers though, it's extremely busted that they don't. Especially when cooking, having a Google Home/Alexa is infinitely better than Siri in that regard

Whats another two months…
My OnePlus 3T has been slowing down heavy over the last 6 months and that deal is hard to pass up.
Got the pixel 3a xl and it further confirms that phones that cost more than $350 are a complete waste of money. The software experience is identical and with these budget phones(pixel/iPhone SE) rocking top tier cameras. Flagships have completely lost their appeal.
Apple Inc. is preparing to announce a shift to its own main processors in Mac computers, replacing chips from Intel Corp., as early as this month at its annual developer conference, according to people familiar with the plans.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-06-09/apple-plans-to-announce-move-to-its-own-mac-chips-at-wwdc
The company is holding WWDC the week of June 22. Unveiling the initiative, codenamed Kalamata, at the event would give outside developers time to adjust before new Macs roll out in 2021, the people said. Since the hardware transition is still months away, the timing of the announcement could change, they added, while asking not to be identified discussing private plans.
Is it finally happening?
They had some hiccups switching off PowerPC to Intel so I imagine somewhat similar. However the question is less about their internal software and more around third party.
By reilo Go To PostThey had some hiccups switching off PowerPC to Intel so I imagine somewhat similar. However the question is less about their internal software and more around third party.Yeah, that's the part that is most interesting to me. Especially since Intel was already a very well known entity to third-party developers but this new Mac chip is brand new to everyone. It will also be interesting to find out the strengths and weaknesses of the Mac chip.
It's still ARM based and an Apple developed SoC. Architecturally everyone should be familiar with it because of iPhone and iPad so support is already there. Plus the entire point of Catalyst has been to bring iOS apps Mac-side so they have been signaling this for a while.
Still, there's hiccups to be expected.
Still, there's hiccups to be expected.
The issue is going to be a ton of legacy code and libraries that don't make it over. A ton of software was left behind when iOS and Mac OS moved to 64 bit only. Can only see it being harder going to arm.
I imagine they will allow a backwards compatibility layer for some time. You gotta imagine that they still need to support Intel-based hardware for close to a good decade.
By reilo Go To PostI imagine they will allow a backwards compatibility layer for some time. You gotta imagine that they still need to support Intel-based hardware for close to a good decade.According to Wiki (cuz I don't feel like looking up other sources), Apple stopped supporting PowerPC 3.5 years after debuting Intel.
e: also, something about this link breaks the url code; maybe the apostrophe?
e2: reading the end of that article and it looks like Apple marked PowerPC as "obsolete" seven years after the last product launch, thus ending every last bit of support for it
In another new feature, Apple is adding system-wide picture-in-picture to iOS videos. Much like on macOS, videos will hover over apps and can be adjusted in size or collapsed into the side of the display to continue playing in the background.yay
Apple is finally allowing iPad owners to alter default email and browser apps in iPadOS 14. The company briefly revealed the major change during a slide in the WWDC keynote today, noting that iPadOS 14 will be able to “set default email and browser apps.” Apple didn’t detail this change fully during its keynote, and it’s not immediately clear whether iOS 14 will also allow default mail and browser apps to be changed.double yay
Apple is officially moving to its own silicon chips for some of its Mac hardware. Calling it a “historic day for the Mac,” Apple CEO Tim Cook detailed the transitions to PowerPC, OS X 10, and a move to Intel chips before unveiling its plans to use Apple’s own silicon in Macs in the future.Officially official
Apple is promising new levels of performance and far less power consumption with its move to in-house processors. Apple is designing its own range of SoC for Macs, with unique features to Mac, but a common architecture across product lines.
wait, iOS didn't have picture in picture before? It's on the Ipad so I thought it was on the phones as well.
With the move to ARM, that means iOS/iPad apps will just work natively. It's sounding like their next phase of Catalyst.
This was one of the best keynotes I've ever watched. Just bangers on bangers.
I'll probably upgrade my mid-2017 MBP sometime in 2021 for this lol. The switch to ARM looks fucking legit.

Looks like we'll eventually get a convergence of iPad OS and Mac OS. It's only a matter of time. Messages and Maps are now Catalyst apps which means they are iPad apps through-and-through.
I really didn't expect this big of a Mac OS update. Nice to see.

daaaaamn
Are they bringing layers or something to the native sketch/notes app?
All of their iPad specific updates seemed a bit underwhelming, and a lot of the iOS stuff felt like catchup, but in amongst the Mac parts, it didn't really matter. Seems like a lot of developer friendly changes too.
I wonder how good virtualisation will be for dev work

Back Tap looks to be extremely useful. It seems you can link the double or triple tap options to a range of system tasks, including taking a screenshot, locking or muting your phone, changing the volume, and even launching certain apps like Google Assistant.
You can also use these taps to activate Shortcuts, which opens up a whole new range of possible automation options. By using Apple’s HomeKit, for example, you could create a shortcut that turns on or off all the lights in your house, then activate it by double-tapping the back of your iPhone when you wake up and go to bed. Or you could use app shortcuts to open up apps, like sending a message through WhatsApp or a tweet on Twitter.
Best summary of iOS 14 I have seen yet. Having more control over hiding screens and apps you don't wanna see but still accessible via app drawer is long overdue.

So how much copying from Android?
lol you'd complain if iOS didn't get those features as much as you are jabbing that it now did. Pick your lane.
Even Android got rid of the bottom nav bar with the back button in Android 10. It's useless. Gestures work great and are much quicker to use than a dedicated back button on iOS.
By reilo Go To PostEven Android got rid of the bottom nav bar with the back button in Android 10Damn :(
No current apps or home button either?
By Not Go To PostDamn :(Well, it still exists and it's enabled by default, but Android is going to push for gestures to be the default navigational UX from now on. I imagine in a revision or two you won't have dedicated navigation bar.
No current apps or home button either?
I personally think it's for the better, but I can see it being available for accessibility.
