They're reading books they probably don't understand.ah thanks.Al Iannazzone @Al_Iannazzone about 1 hour ago"We know Amar'e is old and busted, so we trying to see if Acy can play D and board with better players around him who aren't Amar'e or Bargs"
Bargnani (hamstring) will sit again tonite. Fisher said he'll start the same way as Saturday: Calderon, Shumpert, Carmelo, acy and dalembert
Chris Herring @HerringWSJ about 1 hour ago
Fisher, asked why Acy is starting over Amare at PF, says he's trying to see what Acy can do w better players. Says Amare is known commodity.
It makes sense to me.
I mean, don't get me wrong I'm appreciative and all, but if she was going to spend that kind of dough, I'd have preferred something else than being up close to see Born Ready deep-dick my team (at least let me see a team with a real superstar, hell I'll take John Wall even).
Right now Amar'e is not interested in passing in the triangle. He's not just missing, he's missing badly...

Coach Kidd: Tomorrow’s starting five has Giannis at PG, Khris at SG along with Jabari, Ersan and Zaza. #OwnTheFuture
How bad is the Lakers' transition D going to be if they aren't spacing the floor for three-pointers with two players behind the freethrow line? Although that's probably a moot point given old-Kobe's Harden-esque defense and well, Lin and Nash don't scream transition defenders.
I think this thread is talking entirely too much about a really bad team with a bad coach.
Ugh. This whole season depresses me. The team will be almost unwatchable. Durant and George are hurt. Clippers are now a feel good story. I somehow don't care about the neo-neo cavs.
Worst of all, for my birthday my girl got me row 4 seats to Lakers-Charlotte in early November. She spent entirely too much for those tickets. I mean, don't get me wrong I'm appreciative and all, but if she was going to spend that kind of dough, I'd have preferred something else than being up close to see Born Ready deep-dick my team (at least let me see a team with a real superstar, hell I'll take John Wall even). I've never been this not excited to go to a game and I feel terrible about it.
( I even saw this coming and I dropped hints that unless it was to see Lebron or Durant, I don't really care too much to see a game in person this year on the hope she wouldn't buy me the obvious gift…)
bro...
So the NBA had TV talks with Apple and Google. I'm not sure exactly how it would work but that would have been a lot more interesting than the same shit from ESPN.
just browsing stat lines. Exum had a pretty effective game finally, interesting. The more interesting part was the dude who had 20 rebounds in 20 minutes. I know it's preseason but god damn.

Gobert is awesome and was the steal of last years draft.
Booker with multiple threes, 30+ threes, I am in love.
Jusuf Nurkic with 15 points and 6 fouls in 14 minutes, lol. He's going to have some DMC at Kentucky stat lines this year.
Quin on Gobert's monster game:

Gobert's line surprised his coach. “I think a few of them were tips," Snyder said. "Maybe he’s padding his stats, tipping it to himself.”
Booker is awesome, no idea why the Wizards let him go
We won't really miss him. Hump is a better player in pretty much every way besides getting out in transition. Booker should have been kept over Seraphin for sure though, but i think size was an issue.
Really love what Brook brought though. Guys an absolute gamer. You need guys like him against some of the more physical teams in the league. He was a key cog in the Chicago series.
Phil Jackson said James Dolan was forced to become involved in day-to-day operations of the New York Knicks prior to his hiring as president.
"He had to meddle" Jackson said, "because of the (poor) decisions that were made."
Dolan and the Garden have gone to great lengths to dismiss the notion that Dolan meddles in the basketball operations. Jackson reiterated that Dolan gave him assurances that he'll allow him to run the team.
"He has this tremendous, competitive drive," he said.
The Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics will play a 44-minute game – four minutes shorter than a regulation NBA game – Sunday at the Barclays Center.
Playing four 11-minute quarters is one-time preseason experiment and only exploratory. However, at the recent NBA coaches' meeting in Chicago, the length of games was a topic, and it was suggested the NBA take a look at shortening games.
Each quarter will have two mandatory timeouts at the first dead ball under 6:59 and the first dead ball under 2:59, and the game will have two fewer mandatory timeouts than a normal game. In a 48-minute game, there are three mandatory timeouts in the second and fourth quarters, and the first mandatory timeout comes at the first dead ball under 5:59.

an entire season for Nerlens to develop his offense without consequence might elevate him to Anthony Davis status provided he can put on enough weight
that would be cool

It's kind of crazy to me that the Clippers still haven't adequately addressed their biggest deficiencies at the SG and SF positions. Nobody can consistently hit outside shots on the team... actually nobody can consistently score period. Blake will go off from time to time, but if he's swarmed, they have no idea what to do and it typically ends up being CP3 doing too much. Losing Bledsoe still haunts them I think. I'd rather have Bledsoe and CP3 starting or at least finishing games than relying on Barnes or Redick to take the pressure off Blake and CP3.
Clips are built like ass. Two wing defenders that are minus defenders and Paul is a much better help defender than he is a man defender. Team is basically built on Jamal, Blake and Chris having to play at their absolute ceilings to win--and this pretty much works during the regular season, but they just about no versatility whatsoever when it comes to a playoff series.
Right now Amar'e is not interested in passing in the triangle. He's not just missing, he's missing badly…

He missed some of the easiest shots you could ask for. Idk wtf was going on with him.
Kelly Olynyk is shooting 60% from three through preseason on 4 threes a game through three games.
I always believed.

yea, they're built for a good regular season and a 2nd round playoff shutdown.
I'm far more interested in seeing how Rubio develops and how the Knicks as a group develop than I am in seeing what happens with this Lakers team. Kobe's been entirely unremarkable, and I know it's pre-season, but he'd usually go for 24-28 by this point in October at least once or twice. The injuries are already starting to pile up - 4 of our top 8 players are already dealing with some kind of injury and the other 4 are Boozer/Kobe/Wes/Hill.
Let's hope Knicks make the 4th or 5th seed so Phil and Fish can be hailed as saviors.
I've always believed that centering your entire offense around one PG who makes 95% of the decisions is going to get you 85-95% of the way to a chip...But almost always fail you in the end. As great as CP3 is, and Nash before him, and Kidd/Payton/Stockton before them - there's going to be some issue when they deal with a really well oiled motion or system offense. Too much burden placed on one person's hands.

We haven't even brought out the tank Bankai yet, brehs.
going to enjoy our 7th overall pick of whichever big man is broken by the draft.
Greeeeeedy compromise to the absurd length of the nba season. I guess it's an okay idea but you really need to cut games down to 40 minutes if you want to make a substantial difference. Problem is teams like the thunder and blazers will give the finger to their bench and continue to overplay their best players, and somehow TNT will still manage to make us miss the first quarter of every double header. The Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics will play a 44-minute game – four minutes shorter than a regulation NBA game – Sunday at the Barclays Center.

Because Eastern Conference basketball is grimy and sluggish and filled with a million foul calls. This was literally my thought process every time I turned on TNT to watch a WC game at 7:30 only to find that there are still like 9 minutes left in the fourth quarter of the first game at that point.
I'm not for lowered minutes and decreased game counts. Keep it as it is, pay the players more, hire better training staff and equipment with the extra revenue.

LOL. Newsflash bro, the last 9 minutes of every NBA game are sluggish and filled with a million foul calls.

Not for nothing but, When you're at the 9 minute mark of the 4th quarter at a time when the game should have already ended, it's because the first 39 minutes were sluggish and filled with a million foul calls not because the last 9 were.
Also, Steve Nash is dealing with the same issues as last year. Dude practiced like 4 days and played 1 pre-season game and one quarter of another. Did the guy "get healthy" over the summer by literally not doing a single physically demanding thing? wtf.
Tom Thibodeau is looking for his core players to get in a mindset similar to the San Antonio Spurs.
In the two preseason games the Spurs played overseas last week, veteran Tim Duncan played 33 and 35 minutes, while Tony Parker played 35 and 36.
‘‘I’m watching San Antonio, and they’re going after it,’’ Thibodeau said. ‘‘Parker, Duncan, they’re playing huge minutes right off the start. I think it’s a strong message what they’re saying right now. They’re preparing themselves to defend their championship. And so in order to get that way from them, you’re going to have to wrestle it away from them. They’re not just going to give it away. Your mind-set has to be right.’’
Right Thibs. Your guys clearly lose because they haven't tried hard enough these last few years.
I feel like there are better things the NBA can do to speed up the games.
1. Fewer timeouts
2. automatic ball advancement under 1 minute in the 4th and overtime, without a timeout
3. no timeouts unless there's a dead ball.
And I wouldn't mind fewer games, actually. Less back 2 backs.

The 5 million timeouts at the end of every game is a huge timewaster. Should be max of 2 timeouts per team when under 2 minutes.

first thing I think of when I think of a Thibs coached team is starters not getting enough mins.
Less games are never going to happen because owners want all that revenue. Less timeouts and no times out unless there is a dead ball like FIBA is a start. The replay system bogs the game the fuck down at the end of the games.
