Anyone read about Melo saying scoring title is unlikely under the triangle?Melo doesn't have the basketball IQ of MJ or Kobe though.
The triangle produced nothing but scoring champs.. lol
Just needs a reliable elbow jumper and some decent screens.
no one on that team should be taking FGA away from him. This really should be the year he really goes for the scoring title.
There really isn't. He could go for 40ppg for the season. And it would be legitimate.
watching the lakers play terribly, i didn't mind.
but, hearing Boozer scream is going to make this season unbearably long.

LA's bench has literally not cracked double digits yet and we're starting guys (Wes, Price) who would be lucky to be bench players on other teams. Jazz have had it easy pretty much all game.
It is just 1 preseason game but if you can't knock out and keep this Laker team down, it doesn't bode well.

Except for Kobe, no one on LA is really starter quality, maaaybe Boozer if a team is desperate. And LA is without a starter and almost their entire bench.

Utah's bench is playing D-league level talent + Kobe and Boozer. They're possibly the worst defense in the league made worse with injuries.
Not really mind blowing I guess since Utah is projected to be near the bottom of the conference, I just didn't think any NBA team would have trouble with this LA team.
Yes and when we didnt have rookies and second year players playing so many minutes, we beat them by 30.Except for Kobe, no one on LA is really starter quality, maaaybe Boozer if a team is desperate. You say this as though your bench allowing d-league level talent a ~40 point turn around isn't concerning.
Dhard, youre team got worked by a bunch of scrubs and with a few key missing players to boot.
take the L and let's move on.
let's bicker at the bottom 5 when were there brehs.

This is so embarrassing :(. Jazz C-team should have had that.I'm just glad we didn't have to face the Juggernaut tandem of Lin and Nick Young.

so i take his openess as a positive thing.
I know they don't watch him play, but hearing Bill and Jalen are down on Rubio for his defense is just ... I can't.

He's a better defending PG than practically everyone in the league. Both on the ball and team defense.
Exum's ceiling if he's lucky is Rubio with a better shot, comparable defense, and significantly worse pure PG skills...but considering he's hitting only the backboard when he takes shots sometimes, I doubt it.
If he doesn't develop that shot though, he's not even on Rubio's level.
But just how much praise Lillard and the Blazers should be receiving remains a point of contention. Though he and Aldridge helped turn the Blazers into one of the big surprises in the league last season, leading them from 33 wins in 2012-13 to 54 in 2013-14, one big question has lingered over the team since they started ripping off wins last winter: Are they for real?
Paging lawlohwhat
Is Rubio going to get the extension?I doubt it. He doesn't have any reason to since the cap is going way up and he'll be an RFA so the Wolves will still have the opportunity to match any offer. There's no pressure to get a deal done.
I'm expecting a Pekovic-like scenario where he gets to restricted free agency and then they strike a deal. That way he can get the five years he wants, too.
Adam's just mad that the Clips will be missing out on the WCF again in spite of having their best team ever.
Bet Lakers fans feeling some way right now about that TrueHoop article on Kobe:
http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/11717596/is-kobe-bryant-reason-los-angeles-lakers-downfall
Cue "Henry Abbott is just a Kobe-hater" rhetoric from Kobe-stans.
It would seem that the only connection fans have to the Lakers' title tradition is Bryant, the man who helped make the franchise one of the most popular brands in sports. Now 36, he's a lock to have his statue outside Staples Center someday. He's the reason celebrities line up 10 deep inside. He's also, say sources both in and around the Lakers' organization, the primary reason the team has fallen so mightily.

The Lakers meeting took place in Beverly Hills on July 2 in the modernist, windowless conference room at Relativity Media – the offices of Howard's agent. Kupchak, Howard's closest ally on the team, prepped the Lakers' pitch. One big point: Listen carefully. Another: Dress appropriately. "Our approach," a Lakers source explained at the time, "is that we are interviewing for the job. We want to show that this is a place his dreams can come true."
As the Lakers' contingent settled into the conference room's ergonomic chairs, it was clear that two-time MVP point guard Steve Nash, in a nice crisp shirt, listening attentively, was running Kupchak's game plan. But Bryant showed up, according to a person in the room, in "hoops shorts, a T-shirt and a gold chain." He had also packed an attitude.
lawls
Kobe made Dwight Howard look like a pro.
Or it will be, at least, until he shoots it. Bryant has fired away for nearly two decades. He's fourth on the NBA's all-time scoring list, trailing only Kareem, Karl Malone and Michael Jordan. He's also just a few weeks' play from setting an all-time league record for misses. "The problem is, he's just not as good as he thinks he is," says one source in the Lakers' inner circle. "He's just not as efficient as he thinks he is. If he had the other intangibles, like LeBron, or if he was any kind of different person, it would have been easy for us to attract talent, retain it and win."
Fuuuuu----
Kobe is a star of a different era. He is likable, or doesn't coddle to anyone. As much as i dislike him in some ways i respect it.
But that era is over and he never changed.
But that era is over and he never changed.
ESPN's rankings are idiotic and everyone knows that. I think it's fine they put him at 40, he's coming off a 6 game season. The problem is their axe to grind is clear as day with someone like him.
Kobe represents the old school thinking, and his fans represent the old school thinking. Kobe's the most prominent symbol of the anti-advanced stats community as there is still playing in this league. People pretending like the ESPN True Hoop community of metrics based bloggers are objective are kidding themselves.
Phil is the anti-advanced stats basketball mind and Kobe's the player. The people who give the most credence to the analytics movement are people who have been convinced that those two are overrated - the True Hoop community knows it's audience.

If you think that article is ANYTHING other than a response to Kobe calling them a bunch of idiots, you're kidding yourself. It's a story about something that happened multiple summers ago, using unnamed sources, right after Kobe insulted them.
And it's not just Kobe, it's Phil too. I covered that in my post about the OBVIOUS true hoop tactics days ago. Go read Abbott's article talking about how he had to put his notepad down after 5 min when Phil was talking because he brought nothing new to the table. Abbott is a no one who only exists because he had some success in convincing the world that the guy with the most game winners in history and 5 chips isn't clutch.
Abbott is the 30 year old Blogger with no political experience trying to make a name for himself by arguing that Bill Clinton is in fact an ineffective and shitty politician. He picked an easy target, 90% of the country hates the Lakers, and he knows that.
THERE IT IS
Because it's clear as day. No one has said anything bad about Kobe and Abbott of all fucking people has a source? The fact that you ate that shit up makes it obvious how gullible you are.
Like I said, he picked an easy target to go on his multi-year witch hunt with and gain credibility, people like you eat it up.
I like how you ignored me essentially saying "Cue True Hoop writing an attack article against Kobe because they're petty, not objective, and have a market to cater to" days ago.
My tea's gone cold and I'm wondering why I…
You think this has something to do with Kobe for me? This was like Woj writing shit article after shit article about Lebron years ago. Except unlike Woj, Abbott has never been known to have any reliable sources. He's a clown that's only respected by people who don't understand basketball and dislike Kobe. Just as Woj was embraced by Lebron haters for years.
I called the game out days ago, and you blindly scooped it up with a ladle.

Predictable because I called it out days ago? Yea dude, I've been saying the same thing for years regarding Abbott and Kobe. Except I've also illustrated this has nothing to do with Kobe personally for Abbott. It's a career move.
My response was predictable because Abbott's was predictable. Wise up.
