By giririsss Go To Postvalidate? It's going to take some stars moving from west to east for it to swing to east is better, I reckon.
You've got 2 teams that are on historically good seasons. With amazing all time rosters. OKC would be tied for the lead in the East, but they're 3rd in the West.
Utah's season ISN'T surprising. They've been progressively getting better and better.
Portlands is surprisingly good. But houstons is surprisingly bad. So it's balanced.
The East is better. But i wouldn't say it's swingin that way in any major positive or in any major shift. Considering that the East was historically atrocious the last 2 years this had to happen.
What's surprising is how the West used to have 11 teams competing for the 8 play off spots but only have 9 this year.
But yeah there is no validation...

By giririsss Go To PostBut thats just simply not true.Im sorry but it is true. He literally talked about it on a regular basis after his hiring. It was a large part as to why he was hired. Demps has always wanted to apply a slightly moderated pace and space style system to his team. Gentry sold him on his way of doing it. Demps argued that was why he and Monty would never be on the same page when Monty's firing was discussed. Gentry was brought in to implement a system and correct that core disagreement about how to use our roster. To fit players to specific roles Demps and Gentry thought they should.
I can't comment too much on the Jrue thing. But it might be a way to try and make sure the second unit isn't pure trash. It could be to spare Jrue going up against starters.
I don't think you can analyse "great units" on a team that just doesn't have any consistently healthy players. It's a false statistic. He has also been traditionally, very good at playing what ever works best. Not being stuck with rotations, being very flexible. So you guys have complaints, but history tells me the complaints are misdirected. You're reading the wrong thing out of what you see.
Also, it's going to take more than another year to turn the team as a whole around. It's going to be 2 or 3. They're in a bad situation money / picks wise IIRC.
The early results were very, very ugly. He has pulled back and adjusted some and began turning a blind eye in odd ways but that is still overall what is happening. Gentry has one general way of doing things and that is how it will be. And frankly, I am ok with that to an extent. My major problems have actually come in the areas he turns that blind eye too.
As to his lineups. It is telling that your default position is that Gentry is correct in all his decisions. Instead of actually trying to verify anything I said. Injuries don't explain why Jrue continues to come off the bench, why Cole gets more minutes in games like last night and often rivals Jrue's time spent with AD. Injuries don't excuse that. We are the only team in the league that puts their 2nd and 3rd best players on the bench and it is unclear by any metric why that continues to be. It hasn't been successful, clearly. You then have several examples of some questionable in game coaching decisions. His management of timeouts and late game situations is particularly troubling. The worst example was when he elected not to foul in a critical Rockets game and allowed them to run down the clock to 4 seconds. Then elected to run a full court set with 4 seconds and down by 1 point. We lost.
I am not blaming Gentry for all our problems, I am not dumb enough blame him for things out of his control. Likewise I have watched every Pelicans game, some more then once when I have late work to get done. Gentry is not without some serious question marks going forward.
still laughing when i think about the time the pels reupped eric gordon even though his injury prone ass was begging them to let him sign with phoenix
damn, we played like shit and put up our highest scoring quarter this season

Knicks playing with good energy and Carmelo and KP going off on the Celts, but will it last considering IT2 can score whenever he wants? Also Knicks are going to limit KP's minutes since they play tomorrow.
Oh hey Rambis noticed Calderon ain't shit and benched him, now suddenly Knicks regained the lead. Maybe Calderon will finally be benched.

I'm surprised they called that on Smart, refs have let both team get away with worse. Dumb tech though.
