Go round up your homies homie.
The most depressing part of this season I just came to realize is that the future looks even grimmer. We fucked up the trade deadline and now have our new coach looking like he has lost this locker room already.
I mean outside of luck giving us the first or second pick, our options are ridiculously limited and we have squandered all the allure we had after last offseason. JVG or Thibs 2.0 is not coming here anymore. And if we stick it out with Gentry am I just going to need to get used to his lineup and rotation stupidity and inability to instill any team discipline or respect???
I keep thinking it can't get worse as a Pelicans fan but it just does.

I like watching AD and Jrue play together, so I just hope Jrue stays healthy so I can continue watching that. The team needs to basically take the pre-Harden model from HOU, imo. Stay competitive, make smart but cheap signings, develop and trade players for other players, and hope you can pull off a good trade or get lucky in the late lottery.

My problem is I just have no confidence at any level of our organization. Demps created this mess of a roster, ownership enabled him, and Gentry is looking more and more like a swing and a miss. Our cap situation is once again limited and Demp's gives me no faith in making the right choice in the late lottery.
I agree Jrue and AD is a lone bright spot on a lost season though. Which is all the more a shame Gentry has failed to play them together more.
Also, apparently the offers for Ryno at the deadline were laughable. Like pick late first round pick (20+) or two second rounders. No one is giving up anything of value for recently injured expiring contracts or injured players in general.

The other option is hoping for a sign and trade, resigning him for 15-20 million(which I don't want to do) or letting him walk.
If the best we could of gotten is a late first rounder and maybe his departure helping with ping pong balls, I would swallow my pride and take it. But thats just me. I know a lot of people like Ryno and I understand.

Mason Ginsberg posted some stats in regards to that.

I agree with Demps' general strategy (get young vets to help AD succeed), but I don't like the execution. I think I'm finally ok with the Jrue trade if he can stay healthy, but I never agreed with getting rid of Lopez for Evans. Gordon contract was a "whatever" at the time for me. Shame it turned out so bad.
Asik contract was always too long. Ajinca wasn't worth signing for much above the vet minimum, imo.
Cap isn't really that limited; 21m available next season if contracts are allowed to expire: http://www.spotrac.com/nba/new-orleans-pelicans/cap/2016/
I'm undecided on Gentry. The style he is trying to push doesn't work with a lot of these players. But I was saying that all last season when people were complaining about the slow pace of the team. There were no ball-handlers I was very confident in running the break with Davis. Jrue can get loose with the dribble, Tyreke will either slow it down or barrel to the basket not even looking to pass, Gordon really doesn't have the handles, etc. Really, Tyreke is just about the worst player to have if you want an up-tempo offense.
I do blame Gentry and Erman for preventing the team from going after offensive rebounds early in the season. They are legit good at that and it helps limit the weakness of their poor defensive transition (since the bigs were never able to make a play on that end, anyway).
Also, stay away from TheBirdWrites. They are over-reactionary, see what they want to see with certain players/coaches/staff, give misleading analysis, and sometimes have trouble seeing the big picture.
By DY_nasty Go To Postshould've been happy to get a 1st at allI'd rather not be locked into a four year guaranteed contract with a player that late in the first round with the needs this team has. I think the two second rounders would be more appealing than that. And I've already made it known how little I value second rounders.
By Kibner Go To PostThey have actually been playing together more and more. Mason Ginsberg posted some stats in regards to that.Their minutes have increased, but it is still far from ideal IMO. Tonight you saw Jrue play half, if not more of his first and second quarter minutes without AD. Frankly i just don't buy Gentry's logic for not starting Jrue outright and utilizing almost all of his still limited minutes with Davis.

As you can probably tell I am not the biggest fan of Demps strategy though Jrue is at least proving his worth may outweigh the cost if he manages to stay healthy and keep improving.
Cap wise, everyone seems to be flush this offseason and frankly, with how we have played, I don't see any difference makers signing here. It will likely be more stop gap players that we will ask to over achieve.
The Thunder, losers of six of their last 10 games and with the omnipresent reality that Kevin Durant’s forthcoming free agency looms so incredibly large, are falling fast.
The real test comes Thursday night. And therein lies the problem.
The almost-unbeatable Golden State Warriors (53-5) are waiting at Oracle Arena, the Thunder in their sights and all sorts of mental edges at their disposal. As if it’s not enough that the Warriors downed the Thunder on Feb. 6 and beat them in overtime again on Saturday, they now host a Thunder team that is clearly embroiled in an ill-timed identity crisis. At 42-19, the Thunder are just 1 ½ games ahead of the Clippers for third place in the Western Conference.
“If we want to be a great team, we’re fooling ourselves,” Durant, who had 30 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, said afterward. “If we want to be a great team, we’re fooling ourselves with the way we’re playing. We’re fooling ourselves. If we want to win a bunch of games in the regular season, then that’s cool, but we’re fooling ourselves the way we’re playing…There’s just no discipline. We’re playing too loose. We’ve got to be better.”http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/thunder/2016/03/03/thunder-kevin-durant-russell-westbrook-billy-donovan-collapse-clippers/81255966/

Foye was open too. Presti needs to dead the Dion Waiters experiment. Give Foye all his minutes and play your rookie PG.
At the end of it all, Presti will have wasted more talent than any other manager in sports history.
Drink to that

Presti could've had a young and amazing squad that would've been a contender for half a decade at least.

too much to speculate on right now but yea good chance he leaves if KD leaves
presti would just draft more superstars with such high picks though lol
Why does Durant get walked over by Westbrook?

Glad I'm halfway across the world on vacation so I don't have to hear the local meltdowns.
The bottom line is that nobody is beating the Warriors or Spurs this year. Our bench is too weak to contend with those guys.
I mean, the Clips loss is bad. But I see this as more fallout from the Dubs loss. That's when everyone realized that we ain't winning shit this season. I shudder to think about what'll happen tonight.

KD2Boston!! Hell just gives us a superstar. Give us a top 2 picks because every else looks suspect...If there is a God and he makes this happen...I will sell my soul to the devil...I will vote for Trump...I am willing to stoop that low.
