Excuse me, that's a Steph title. And last month's was just as much a Matt Barnes title lol.
By Moris Go To PostExcuse me, that's a Steph title. And last month's was just as much a Matt Barnes title lol.You know you've been doing NBA threads for a long time when people complain about it constantly making fun of the Knicks. Right of passage, imo.

By reilo Go To PostYou know you've been doing NBA threads for a long time when people complain about it constantly making fun of the Knicks. Right of passage, imo.I say this because I want this to be a trend for the rest of the season. Even the month of June should be Bargnani inspired
By 33MillionDollarMen Go To PostKnicks deserve all the shit they get, same with the Clips and the Rockets.I get the Clips and Rockets hate (well, not your hate for Capela/Harrell/Dekker/etcetc), but what have the Knicks done? Is it Dolan?
I cannot in good faith say Fuck the Knicks when Porzingis exists. Maybe if they let him go and get rid of him. But Porzingis is worth.
Its fuck the Knicks all day everyday because there isn't one basketball fan out there that isn't just a little bit worried that NY is gonna fuck that Unicorn.
This is pretty cool. Jerry West at 75 years old not missing.

By blackace Go To Postmore of a problem with 18 year olds jumping directly to the NBA and forced to produce than anything else…
I think that is part of it but I'd also argue it's about practice. If guys like Dirk who are just as tall as many of these guys can do it so can they. I'm not expecting these folks to hit 80% but at least get 60-65%.
By blackace Go To Postmore of a problem with 18 year olds jumping directly to the NBA and forced to produce than anything else…doubt it....
By blackace Go To Postmore of a problem with 18 year olds jumping directly to the NBA and forced to produce than anything else…Dwight has been in the league for more than 10 yrs. He had time to practice; still can't make over 60% of his FTs.
Shit, Karl Anthony Towns had one year in college and is shooting better than 80% from the free throw line. While he has only take about 200, that's still fantastic for his position and age.
The form on Towns shot is pretty beautiful, though. He has really nice range basically out to the arc. There's no weird hitch or anything in there like Dwight.

True but Anthony was probably willing to be coached and assisted with his form. Dwight? Who knows.
I took that Kyrie report with a grain of salt when SAS put it out there but if Broussard is now talking about it it must be total bullshit
Ross Wooden @RossWoodenEven more than the Heat and Hornets? Lawd.
The @memgrizz have lost 165 total games due to injury/illness in 2015-16, 5th in the NBA and the most of any current playoff team.
By vic Go To PostEven more than the Heat and Hornets? Lawd.Yup. How far to the right a team is measures how many games their players have missed.

Everybody should be able to do that.
By Kibner Go To PostYup. How far to the right a team is measures how many games their players have missed.
Fascinating. 6th til 10th in the East is a wide open race too. I still think the Wizards make it, with Wall posting a 20/10 season.

Wizards would've been shit even if healthy.
By DY_nasty Go To PostNo matter how many times I see this I can't agree wholeheartedly. In the context of using it as a visual representation of games missed (i.e., ignore the size of the circles), it works great.
Wizards would've been shit even if healthy.
It is difficult to use for much else because the metric they use to count impact of missing players doesn't take into account the quality of the depth behind them.
Things that can be reasonably inferred from the graph:
- Many games missed + big circle + many wins = Talented and deep team
- Many games missed + big circle + few wins = Possibly talented but shallow team
- Many games missed + small circle + many wins = Why the fuck was the coach playing such bad players before injuries forced his hand?
- Many games missed + small circle + few wins = A bad team
- Few games missed + big circle + many wins = A team with enough talent and depth to do well… at least for a while
- Few games missed + big circle + few wins = A shallow team that likely isn't particularly talented
- Few games missed + small circle + many wins = A talented team but unknown depth
- Few games missed + small circle + few wins = The Worst team
Possible exceptions, of course, but those should be good general rules when trying to fully interpret that graph.
Miami looking to shed Gerald Green and pick up either marcus thornton or kmart. All of this pending the Sixers picking up Beno to clear floor cap.

By reilo Go To PostThat's only because you hate Beal.I only think Beal is a zero impact folding chair of a SG that only looks like he has chemistry with Wall. Wittman is the biggest issue though. He's easily the worst coach not in the hotseat this year. Outside of Wall-Gortat PnR, that team has no half court threats. Everything else is stale, ugly improv.
By DY_nasty Go To PostIts the cumulative quality of injured players thing that irks me.It's similar to the Trade Machine using PER to estimate wins added, but weighted against replacement level (which i think in NBA is 10 day contract level production). Note that I think both should be taken with a grain of salt.
I don't think it should be taken as gospel, but it is useful in pointing out who lost a lot or a little production to injury. Just big picture stuff, basically. A lot, a little, and undetermined should be the only quantity values to use when interpreting that metric.
By DY_nasty Go To PostOutside of Wall-Gortat PnR, that team has no half court threats. Everything else is stale, ugly improv.Yeah, besides the obvious one strength they have, they pretty much have the Cavs' playbook without Bron

I'm not expecting these folks to hit 80% but at least get 60-65%.It's less about practice and more about practicing correctly. Dwight (particularly early on) was known for doing a lot of reps on his FT shot. It's just that he was doing it with a meh form.
By rodeoclown Go To PostThe form on Towns shot is pretty beautiful, though. He has really nice range basically out to the arc. There's no weird hitch or anything in there like Dwight.
The inverse. KAT's shooting numbers make me think he's going to be legitimately great.
I would have like to have seen Ty with a real coach but he has been absolutely awful. He makes Harden look like Kwahi on D, just gets swatted at the rim and has no confidence in his outside shot.
