Anybody have any thoughts about potentially surprising teams that'll play better than most predict?
Or on the flip side, teams that'll perform worse than predicted?
I'm sitting here thinking:
Better: Lakers
Worse: Chicago
Now I'm not saying one team is playoff bound and the other isn't. In fact, I'd say Lakers will be a .500 team at best, missing the playoffs. But 500 would surprise the hell out of me, overall. Likewise for Chicago, I see them making the playoffs, but possibly lower seeded.

Chicago hype is strange
Mirotic and Mcbuckets are going to be ass as rookies most likely and I don't know if Pau can survive how much of a regular season try hard Thibs is after already giving up his summer for Spain.
Joakim is probably due for a stress injury at some point also given how much he's been ran into the ground the last few years.
And Rose has already gone on record as heavily working on his floater to avoid contact at the rim. He's clearly still shook.

Cause Chicago is out East. East is still trash.
I think it's gonna be tough for the lakers to be better when they haven't really improved the roster at all?
Jazz could be good just by natural growth, but i think it requires Favors or Kanter to have a remarkable M.I.P. type season.

If it doesnt work no big deal but if it does, Snyder looks like a genius.Kanter will be taking 3 pointers this year.
so there's that.
…. Interesting choice.

unless Favors has turned into a post scoring beast I don't how beneficial a stretch 5 is to that squad.
I always felt stretch 4s or 5s were only good if you had a great post threat or a great penetrator and ideally both
of course Dirk being the exception to that
Harden plays defenseIn fairness he can't get worse
A stretch 4 or 5 can help floor spacing whether you have a post scorer or not IMO. It's basically the reason Marvin Williams played so much last year.If it doesnt work no big deal but if it does, Snyder looks like a genius.Kanter will be taking 3 pointers this year.

Listening to Snyder i think the Jazz will at least be fun to watch this year. Lots of emphasis on playing young players, and lots of high-tempo play. ... Yeah i know everyone says that in training camp but it sounds like its true in this case. I hope its true because guys like Hayward are awesome in transition.
Rockets will miss playoffs. It's possible. These teams are probable locks IMO:
OKC
Spurs
Clippers
Grizz
Mavs
Warriors
Blazers
That leaves one spot between the Suns, Rox, and possibly the Pelicans.
Rox probably make it though. They'll still be potent offensively.
rockets really can't afford a single injury
hell, they can't even afford dwight playing too good offensively

Kanter really needed to start shooting threes. He needs to be a 4 since he can't block any shots and making threes is important for a modern PF.
So, my surprises:
-Elfrid Payton wins ROY.
-Anthony Davis and Asik manage to overcome Monty Williams and the Pelicans' guards and make the playoffs.
-Golden State misses the playoffs.

i don't think that's unrealistic either :geek:bosh will be the best pf in the league
Okay, calm down.

Teams not a lock out of that list.
Blazers.

Grizz.
Warriors have a habit of leaving themselves work to do after the ASB too.
I think the pelicans will be more likely around that 30 win level, not 40.
Also, I can see Bosh going on a tear this season. Dude is only 30. Hasn't had to take the offensive load the last few years so he's not as worn down as most big men that age......
Bosh averages 25 &10i don't think that's a stretch at all
hell, i'd be surprised if bosh doesn't
you'd be surprised that if he didn't have his best season ever? Bosh has never had a 25/10 season...
he sniffed at it once with 24/10 his last year in Canada
There have only been 17 players in the history of the NBA to average 25PPG and 10RPG after the age of 30. Last guy to do it was Shaq in 2003.
Only player to do it within the past decade is Kevin Love.

only PF from our gen to do it regularly was Malone
TD, Barkley and Webber have done it once and KG never has
fuck all the records
bosh will be a top 10 player at the least this season
he'll probably be top 5.
will be better than melo at the least

He could be top 10, maybe..
by 25/10 i meant, I meant it as in a general sense. 23 & 9 would be a monster season too. I expect him to have over 20 ppg, and be around that 10rpg mark.

25/10 is one of those big men bench marks tho.. 23/9 is a great season, but it isn't 25/10..
Wade actually playing more than 50 games.
Heat not imploding.
Bosh showing a post game.
Lakers winning more than 30 games.
Kobe making it to the all-star break without a season ending injury.
Knicks making the playoffs.
Melo getting higher than 10th in MVP voting.
The Clippers getting to the WFC.

i really do think bosh could get it. he's a lot better than now than he was in canada and it isn't like he'll be competing with his own team for boards either. if miami pushes the pace... 25/10 shouldn't surprise anyoneBosh averages 25 &10i don't think that's a stretch at all

I don't see the lot better and he wasn't competing for boards lol The heat weren't a great rebounding team with LBJ..
Plus now no more WIDE open shots...
the offense is going to change entirely - not sure in what direction, but he'll be the primary scorer without question whereas he was the out of place 3rd option for the past few years. LBJ and Wade won't be the guys hawking rebounds looking to immediately run the ball down the court anymore either.i really do think bosh could get it. he's a lot better than now than he was in canada and it isn't like he'll be competing with his own team for boards either. if miami pushes the pace… 25/10 shouldn't surprise anyoneBosh averages 25 &10i don't think that's a stretch at all

If I wasn't sure that Dark Faze wanted to give me his ass again, I'd bet 25/10 on bosh right now
only thing hornets related i'm betting on is if we see them in the playoffs
assuming they get there
