The entitlement and shamelessness of millennials cannot be good for our future

The fuck at that title, baby boomers are the entitled generation.

They had unions, some had free college, the rest didn't pay out of the ass for it, they could afford a house, they were paid a decent wage, they had protections in place in various industries so you couldn't be demoted or have your hours cut, benefits, pensions and they could actually rent places in inner cities. You could get a decent fucking job without a college degree.

We get absolutely none of that.

Please fucking spare me on millennial trashing.

I personally love the term "millenials" and how everyone born in roughly a twenty year period somehow ends up being the exact same person with the exact same mentality and the exact same faults.

It is nice when everything fits in neatly defined boxes you can complain about since you are, of course, the only person that doesn't fit in any one predefined box.

I can't stop laughing. The second anybody unironically complains about people and even says the word "millenials" it just gives me a seizure laughing

Companies are telling people that college degrees are useless without experience and have made it so that only relevant path to gain experience fresh out of school is through typically unpaid internships. Can't pay off your loans, can't move away from home, wages are stagnant, loyalty isn't rewarded.

But let's shit on people who haven't even been given a chance to make it yet instead of taking corporate America to task for fucking over workers or the federal government for allowing it to happen.

Well I'm sorry but I save my shame for the generation that got coddled by all kinds of job security, unions, health benefits, cheaper college and reaped all other financial rewards from the 50s tax era then made sure subsequent generations saw less and less of that. And definitely didn't want to pay the tax rates their parents did.

Don't even get me started on how public education has turned into absolute shit thanks to generations PRIOR to millennials either.

Hold up. I love how baby boomers and people who already got their foot half way out the fucking door want to talk down to millenials that they're entitled and spoiled when they themselves had it much better than millenials in a number of ways. Millenials are the one inheriting this country, you can't be so dismissive of an entire group by characterizing them as entitled or lazy when quality of life is down and income inequality has a huge gulf, jobs pay shit etc. This is some revisionist history bullshit and op is drinking the kool aid. Entitlement is such a lame and lazy descriptor that's usually used for dog whistle politics anyways. Now you got young people buying into the shit too. "Oh you can't afford groceries? Sorry but I just can't take someone seriously who's not patient enough to do an entry-level job for a year before "making it" (Read her post). Considering she has a degree in English Literature which by itself is just not coveted by most employers...

She could have sent the same letter to the CEO in private instead of bringing negative attention to the company for things they can't control. In a capitalistic society, no one will pay you more than they feel you're worth just because. The author thought she was special but reality kicked in and she couldn't accept it. So she threw a verbal tantrum...

Unfettered Capitalism is as American as apple pie ergo it's infallibe. Oh, that huge disparity in income and quality of life that happened within in a single generation? That's not caused by people being inherently greedy, don't mind that. The real problem is those GODDAMNED ENTITLED MILLENNIALS.

You need to let go of the idea that an entry level job isn't supposed to pay a living wage. They've got you trained to think that's OK.

I find the 1980 cutoff definition for millennials to be inadequate.

Decade-based cutoffs mean little if there's no major event or world shift at that point. I find the generational differences to more prominently exist between those who grew up while the USSR and soviet power still existed, and then saw it fall, versus those who grew up after that had happened, and whose first major world-wide event was terrorism in America with 911. This is very much an American view though, as other parts of the world had dealt with terrorism before, but this sort of generational discussion is always heavily vested in American pop culture.

Every generation has its problems. This is a particularly whiny blog post. It reeks of "give me it now!" However, those aren't the issues I would ascribe entirely to being Millennial issues. Every generation has to deal with the harsh reality of life not being anywhere close to a sitcom and takes it hard.

The Millennial aspect is the public blog post, and the follow up article. Current generational issues tend to be a mental darkout on the problems with state authoritarianism, poor understanding of the value and nature of free expression, expectations born of helicopter parenting, the quiet removal of critical thinking classes in college years, a terrorism-born view of the world, and the narcissistic power of new media and the internet.

Basically, the previous generations would have the same issue, and perhaps the same disappointment, anger or disillusionment. Their response would be different. It could be self-contained and depressive(Gen X), seek other employment or ask for a raise to your boss (any generation), or it could be just working hard and enduring. Here, the response is a very public post, making the personal political, and the individual famous. These bring in the Millennial factors.
