It worked for my friend at least. If you've yet to complete story missions, the bonuses for completing on higher difficulty actually get pretty ridiculously high. We were on Venus and he was getting xp bonuses that were equivalent to the daily story mission or higher. All you need is the level to accept the mission at minimum and the appropriate story progress.

And I've got pretty used to carrying hard as fuck in PvE too. I barely even notice it anymore. Just feels like a solo mission + the fact that you have to tell someone to hide in the corner lol

Yea, just bring along a higher level buddy and run through the highest available level story mission. Your lower level character will reap the benefits.

I already had a One Way Ticket 000 rocket launcher. I just completed the nightfall raid on hard with my friend so I could get the additional 9 strange coins, and Eris' boyfriend (she doesn't know it yet) Xur sold me a Gjallarhorn. Score and dark dance to the music!

But...how much better IS the Gally then my One Way Ticket? It doesn't appear to be but a few points more powerful...am I missing something?

Couple things cause I'm on one after not playing this game for damn near a year:

I HATE ALL THIS REQUIRED DLC BULLSHIT. I log into the game and 3/4 of the strikes are locked behind a DLC pay wall. Miss me with the buy DLC fuckery. I BOUGHT THE FUCKING GAME AT LAUNCH SO LET ME PLAY THE WEEKLY HEROIC STRIKE.

Second point, FUCK THIS RNG BULLSHIT.... AGAIN. I have four strange coins and RNG will not get me to 17 in two days.

Third point, there's no easy way to grind strange coins. BRING BACK THE LOOT CAVE.

Have a near max friend join your fireteam and select the highest level missions. Best method easily if you don't have the equipment to survive PvP, even better if you're easily frustrated by being overwhelmed in PvP due to shitty gear+weapons.

you can get 9 strange coin a week with the weekly heroic + PvP drops strange coin a lot more these days.

you can get strange coins on pretty decent drops from crucible nowadays too. the drops are generally WAY higher. blue engrams are somewhat reliable for it too... just depends on how much time you're willing to pour in before sunday

Wolfpack Rounds make the Gjally a double barreled rocket launcher really. Basically, each rocket does roughly twice the damage the damage of a typical rocket. In PvE, its the best heavy weapon in the game by far. In PvP, Its right behind Truth as an exotic heavy rocket launcher.

Gjally also has prox det too, even though its not listed in its perks (like how Plan C has the agility boost)

Ice breaker is still a really good sniper rifle (moreso for pvp these days tbh with how special ammo keeps getting dialed back more and more)

back in the old days it was pretty much mandatory for all nightfalls and raids for cheese, since then though its been pretty much thrown aside for Black Hammer and its infinite ammo/unlimited DPS potential.

naw, thunderlocks have some amazing pvp cheese abilities that allow you to cheese while you cheese

the titan is a fucked up cross between gunslinger and sunsinger though. the hammers are legit insane and the burn stuff is gonna be a problem too - they just don't have the synergy of the warlock (or res huehue) or the range of the gunslinger

I'm interested to see how the new abilities play into old content, specifically the raids. See if any new strats come up.

Yeah... I'm really needing to see the damage numbers in PvE also. The new titans look like they might have the dps potential to drop Crota almost alone.

I'm still really on the fence about the new Warlock, but the Hunter just seems custom made for anyone who's already invested a ton of time in the game. Does a ton of unique things.

Warlock PVP is not nearly as bad as you think.
e.g. the top 100 crucible players list has more Warlocks than Titans on it.
i wreck PVP with my 'lock.

ehhhhhh i don't think there's a single good story mission until the HoW stuff tbh. those almost feel like they belong in a different game just between narration and how they handle the encounters (still not enough really, but a great sign imo)

both raids are still awesome, and i think everyone should get a completion under their belts

don't see anything wrong with waiting though. i felt the d3 vibe early and its looking more and more like its following the same path.

I never even did a raid. I didnt get to that point.

I chunked the game after i won like 6 MP in a row and didnt get a single drop. Meanwhile the terrible kids below me got all the good shit.

lol... well, they gave a LOT of love to drops since you last played. if you remember the days of pure thirst, the game now will feel like a walk through el dorado. its a LOT easier to catch up and level now than it was before too with the economy being less fuck-based.

now that i think about it, you'd actually probably fucking love trials of osiris (mp mode on weekends with the best loot table right now).

the shift in weapons from ARs to precision stuff is probably music to your ears too.

the story though... i'm not gonna front. if you felt like zoning out before, you probably STILL will until you hit the HoW content if you were to jump in now though.

and yeah, HoW is story telling is legit mediocre - but that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay above anything else actually in the game. its still a big nagging issue i have with destiny. the story and lore is really fucking good but none of it is in the game. the vault of glass is outright techno/chrono-demonic and the passing of the torch story between The Last Word and The Thorn is shit that's actually worth a prolonged scratch on the chin.

gunplay got a lot more polish imo (so long as you can avoid games plagued with Thorn users)

you, moris, reilo, and faze i think all kinda were gone around the time of the first big weapons updates in vanilla. back then, ARs will knocking people off from across the map and special ammo meant that you could run around all day long without a single fuck to give. since then, fusion rifles have just about been forgotten completely - they're rarely used at all now. handcannons are basically your FAL from MW2. pulse rifles are gradually evolving into battle rifles. and people are waaaaaaaaaaaay more frugal about their super use imo (you don't see nearly as many panic button supers as you did back in vanilla - the trade off is that people are a lot smarter in general now)

I still don't like that supers are rock-paper-scissors. Mainly I'm saying that as a salty Warlock, eventhough Fireborn is better for PvP than Nova Bomb (because somehow magic balls of fury can get stuck on a tiny tree branch while your ass is suspended midair for 5 seconds like a clay pigeon) but I still lose if I get hit with Arc Blade/Golden Gun and Fist of Havoc no question.

i still maintain that a good defender titan is the scariest shit you'll ever encounter in the crucible

but warlocks... i'm coming around on them. exotic armor really is more make or break with them more than any other class imo. nothing manacles and The Ram for example - huuuuuuuuuuuge game changers for PvP. lifesteal for all melee hits (and the warlock melee range should really be emphasized more too) and giving shatter grenades homing? lol.

just got the claws of ahamkara for my warlock the other day and radiance is legit cheese mode when you have two fusion grenades and two scorches on the quick recharge. shit ain't fair at all. and i roll with a midas too so motherfuckers cant run

I can't believe I haven't played Inferno Control before now. This game is awesome

For the first time in months I've been taking Crucible seriously with my Hunter (no clue how I've maintained a 1.57 k/d on it since then) and I've fallen in love with Red Death. The recovery that you get from outdueling someone with it just encourages you to stay aggressive in the best way. I'm also an asshole and running it with a full speed and armor build with no recovery. I get my recovery when I die or kill someone - in the meantime, my stats are usually better than the person I'm trading shots with. Also, Dance Machines put it right on the questionable line of 'acceptable' douchebaggery. I only don't feel bad because there are people out there with thorns/blinkwinter's lie.

I also switched my control scheme to Jumper. I've always felt that I never got the most out of my vertical space in this game. Now that I can keep my thumb on the stick and get air on the same time, I'm getting out of stuff that would've washed me and finding kill opportunities that I never had before. I don't know how I got throwing knife kills without it (melee on the right stick helps a lot too). Took me a while to adjust, but it was worth it.

Only thing I need to work on now is making the most out of my super. There's still times where I'll just sit on it for an entire game and be too scared to use it. I just hate only getting 1 kill from it or betting wrong on a corner. Takes me too far out of my playstyle with the Hunter right now.

Also, been learning some stuff today since I've rediscovered my love for fusion rifles (and the fact that no one knows how to deal with them anymore).
