I'm in bairnsdale right now...about an hour outside of Melbourne. Have not seen one fucking kangaroo yet but now that im in the countryside, my chances should be higher.
Right now I'd have to rate Melbourne over the Queensland area because of the city centre. Byron bay and surfers Paradise are awesome but Melbourne is THE PLACE for younger people. Getting around without a car is easy and the markets are really cheap with tons if selection for food.
