By Apollo Go To PostI’ve read all of that part. I didn’t like the first part of Jane’s tenure as Thor. Dropped the book.it gets a lot better after that first part fwiw. I wasn't crazy about that section either.
By CoolestSpot Go To PostAny The Max fans here?
Yes, but I'm familiar with the animated adaptation than the actual comic.
hey I like comics
just placed an instocktrades order, got the last volume of lemire's old man logan run, got mighty thor vol 1 and 2, moon knight vol 3, and roughneck by jeff lemire
anybody read roughneck? I basically picked it up because I love pretty much everything I've read by jeff lemire and I wanted to hit the free shipping threshold

Sam Keith's art is amazing and worth a read. It's like if someone designed The Pitt well, and had an interesting story!

Mr Gone was an entertaining and detestable antagonist.
By MHWilliams Go To PostX-Men Blue is the best ongoing X-team book. It'd be Astonishing, but that's a maxi.Man, I had no idea Astonishing is a maxi, that’s a bummer.
Then again, half the books Marvel announces at any given time won’t run longer than a maxi.
By Ayaismusikwhore Go To PostWhat X-Men books are y'all reading these days?If you’re looking to step into any of the current running X-Men books, the best choices are:
I'm a huge X-Men fan but fizzed out years ago. Unfortunately a lot has built up over that time and I don't know what to read and what to avoid 😞
Also, where does everyone buy comics from? I would prefer buying trades and whole collections/ omnibus since buying one by one is not ideal for me. Any help or tips would be super cool :)
Jean Grey
X-Men Blue
All-New Wolverine
Old Man Logan
That’s the real good shit. The ones that are decent fun, but nothing special:
Cable
Iceman
And the bad:
X-Men Gold
Generation X
Weapon X
Astonishing X-Men is really good, but it’s a 12-issue limited run.
Not much of a comic reader anymore, now I'm a full time comic artist/writer hoping to make a living with it... can't even blame that plan on the stupidity of youth anymore either lol.
I will say that Saga is a helluva read after two years out of comics. Picked up the first trade and it's a fantastic book.

I thought they spent too long on the mystery of who she was. It kept them from being able to do character development.

Pretty much the best comic on the stands when it comes out. Tied with Deadly Class I'd say.

By LaunchpadMcQ Go To Postbut Saga came out the same day as X-O Manowar last monthThis man gets it. And one was a underrated sci-fi work while the other was slumping.
I love Saga but I wish I could see some kind of endgame 'cus after years of reading, I don't feel any closer to any sort of conclusion. Kinda feels like Gilligan's Island but instead of escaping the island, it's escaping the people who want to kill them.

This. It's great but it seems to just be going on for sake of going now. But then again, that's some of the weakest cristism you can give a ongoing comic.

Better to wait until the end, in some cases.

Astonishing X-Men is legit great, miraculously.

I don't consider valiant to be comics so they are instantly ruled out. They are more akin to trash.

Jeff Lemire, the best Mangaka Image has to offer haha

Black Hammer is becoming Dark Horse's next shared universe. Becoming Hellboy-like with all the spin-offs, and to be honest, I'm all for it.
And Valiant has fully replaced Marvel for me. Marvel is just lukewarm, no risk company and it'll take a lot to bring me in. So for now I'll stick to my V+DC+Indie mix of books.

So reading DIxon's Birds of Prey still, and I finally found where past Land becomes current Land
Oh don't worry, Canary's not the only one.

It's the best run of Thor.
By pulga Go To PostSaga is some damn good shit. What other books has the artist been on? She's fantastic.
She was doing Archie for a few issues. Not sure if she ever went back. I think she was mostly small indie runs and covers before Saga hit

I realized the closet implementation of the Shonen Jump model in west is 2000AD. I wonder what other feel if new upcoming publishers followed that style.

Heavy Metal is pretty good but bi-monthly. I wish there were a few more monthly magazines.

I vow to you all one day I'll start one!
I love 2000AD but they focus way too hard on Judge Dredd, which I get, he sells, but he has his own damn magazine now. My ideal world would be a new comic magazine with a mix of genres, but a shared universe. Nothing forced or hokey, but it'd be there nevertheless.

I’ve talked to someone in publishing about this same idea...
