This thread reminds me that I should actually start on a comic some day. Some of the pages on this page alone are crazy beautiful.

You should.

Bought a one shot of the creators of Preacher. Rover Red Charlie, it's about 3 dogs and their experience in a post apocalyptic world with humans gone crazy.
Very great read and great art (preacher style but modern)

The next great comic is coming out this week https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/seven-to-eternity-1
Depending on how this arc continues I might drop King's Batman. Detective is the best Batman comic being published right now.
By Dipro Go To PostGondo recommend me a comic, needs to be self contained and finished.Wow, sorry I missed this.
i trust you.
Can't recommend Preacher or Transmetropolitan highly enough.
Every single person on this board that likes comics should be reading the new Doom Patrol and Shade the Changing Girl.
I finally started reading Ultimates...I'm not gonna lie, I put it off forever because initial marketing made it seem like a diversity checklist designed to generate social media buzz rather than anything that had a meaningful story hook. Also for some reason I never liked Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers has left me cold since she was a ghost zombie living in Rogue's head, and I'd never read anything with Blue Marvel but everything about him seemed like a mary sue designed to win internet arguments.
What I didn't realize was it was a BIG IDEAS book in the mould of The Authority, but with Galactus punching the Living Tribunal every month starring Black Panther and his laser space knives. Like, if they sold it like that I would have been in day one. Also, Blue Marvel is still kinda mary sue-ish ("he's Superman, but with more powers and Reed Richards' brain!") but he's cool anyway if I just think of him as silver age Superman, who was a genius level atomic physicist who knew how to make perfect robot copies of himself BECAUSE KRYPTON. Also really, Reed Richards would have been way better if he had these powers instead of Plastic Man's.
I'll get to it. I've been down for every Doom Patrol ever.

By KingGondo Go To PostJust finished the first TP of Southern Bastards.
Awesome stuff. So much fun to read.
would i still like this if i disliked the american south as a setting (and racist rednecks).
Yes. The authors themselves talk about their love/hate relationship with the region.
I'd give the first TP a try at least. It's very pulpy and quick to read.

By Dipro Go To PostHave you watched the preacher tv show?I haven't read the comic but the show is great.
The show is indeed great. Better than it has any right to be.
Made with reverence for the original but also not afraid to take chances.

Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye is the greatest fucking comic ever. Megatron's entire arc is so fucking beautiful. Rodimus growth is slow but shaping up in a way I never expected. I have a feeling be the end of the series he'll still be his charming and goofball self but able to lead just like Prime and Megatron can
By livefromkyoto Go To PostIs anyone reading Secret Empire? That last issue (#4) with the Ultron dinner scene was pretty good.
Only interesting part of the whole event. Those were reworked pages too. I don't think Spencer is writing the series solo anymore even though his name is the only one on it. Marvel ordered issue 6 and 7 to have reworked and added pages
By Apollo Go To PostOnly interesting part of the whole event.
Yeah...I thought the whole setup Spencer did for the series was great, I thought there were so many interesting places they could have gone with it. Instead they ditched any kind of ambiguity or interesting moral conflict and just made it clear he was mind-control Cap right off the bat, Hydra was, in fact, super evil in every way all the time, and told the same kind of story they already did with Age of Ultron and a bunch of other events.
This is obviously going to end with whatever Madam Hydra summons being the real big bad, Rogers' "true self" finding his way back and overcoming the cosmic cube changes, and *shudder* Carol coming back from space and saving the day. And the cosmic cube making Tony conscious again. And Pymtron will end up with the cosmic cube - "but what will this conflicted soul do with it...right or wrong???" And "but now everybody doesn't trust Rogers though and he has to regain their loyalty...by giving up the mantle of Cap and righting wrongs with his own rag-tag team of loyalists as Nomad!" ~END~
I just hope they don't make Doom bad again. Infamous Iron Man is actually a great character.
Steve is back as Cap in Legacy. So whatever happens here isn't going to last long. The dumb thing is that at the beginning of SE they made a point that he wasn't brain washed. This was his true self. The world had been changed by the allies. Then somewhere over the last two books they decided he was/is brainwashed by the cosmic cube.
I have a feeling the other Steve running around is a piece of the cosmic cube that contains the good part of Steve or the Steve that showed up after SW wasn't from this world but a pocket dimension.
I can't stand Spencer's writing. His stories go fucking nowhere. Morning Glories was one of the biggest waste of time in the history of comics. Also, I don't know if you keep track of his twitter but he is still claiming that Hydra isn't evil nor are they Nazis. If you read about Nick's political career there's a bunch of suspect shit in Secret Empire.

Just finished Volume #10 of CHEW. It's still as great as it ever was. If you've not read it you really should. Interesting premise, great art and a wicked sense of humour.
I feel the story reaching its conclusion now. The biggest mysteries are yet to be solved but some major side conflicts are wrapping up so it appears we're going all steam ahead to the finale. Probably not for another few volumes but it's coming.

Secret Empire #5...enh...Banner's alive! Red Skull is coming back! Really guys? Hitting reset on all your stunt deaths from the last year already? Also, how is this the best art they can land for their big event book?
Only thing I liked was the Thor stuff.

Mother Panic is really cool. It's like the more fucked up version of Batwoman I didn't know I always wanted.

Finally digging into the Alan Moore run of Swamp Thing.
Fantastic so far, but I wouldn't expect anything less. Alan Moore is the best.

Okay...Injustice 2. What is DC's fixation with brutally murdering Ted Kord all the time? Stop it already.

Why are you reading Tom Taylor's trash?
By Apollo Go To PostWhy are you reading Tom Taylor's trash?
Because I get stuff if it has Ted Kord in it. I'm that guy. Me and Keith Giffen are the reasons DC keeps putting him in things. It's just that nobody other than Giffen or somebody who appreciates legacy like Geoff Johns should be allowed to write him. He's a Ditko original, dammit! Show some respect.

I'm a huge Ted Kord fan too but still Tom Taylor is bad

This deal is insane. The Young Romance comics are like $20 bucks in hardcover and I don't know if they are available in digital collection anywhere else
