By Kikarian Go To PostLooks interesting. Will check it out.Won't be disappointed.
Black Panther #1 with Coates as the writer, last issue of the new Bond arc VARGR and a new Sheriff of Babylon all next week.
Looked into this new comic Control coming out, sounds interesting and right up my alley. Corrupt DC(Washington) government, female cop lead.
Caught up on Saga. Read The Wake (highly recommended for the Sean Murphy art alone), and I'm currently starting East of West. Very fun so far.
So just got back from the comic book store...... Place ran out of Black Panthers, only had the Disney variant for $10, no thanks.
The store I went to wasn't the better of the 2 I have within 30 minutes of my house though. Apparently I'm the only person in Miami reading comics from Vertigo and Image because I bought their only copies of The Fix and Sheriff of Babylon.......
Gonna call the better store in a little and see if they have any in stock still.

Other place still had some Black Panthers. Pretty good so far, I mean its the first issue so it's all setup, but enough happened to keep me interested. The interview page talking to Brian Stelfreeze got me more hyped for the rest to come because of how he was describing Coates writing.
Everyone should pick up The Fix its great fun and start reading Sheriff of Babylon if you haven't, so fucking good.

The Fix was OD hilarious. From page 1 to that ending, lol.
Sheriff is dope. #5 is the last of my lot this week that I need to read. You on Tom King's Vision too? Worth mentioning that Coates himself says that's the best book going...

I haven't been on Vision, didn't realize King was writing that as well. Not really the superhero/marvel universe guy, picked up BP because of Coates and got into Hawkeye with Fraction because it was him in his every day life. Might have to give it a go now. Lets see if Midtown has some backissue deals. I hate digital comics, need that feel.
EDIT: Vision Vol. 1 TPB coming out in June.
The dialogue in Black Panther is horrible. I am so fucking disappointed in how bad it is. The book is also pedestrian as fuck. Nothing fucking happened. I won't be back for the second issue.
By Jay Whatever Go To PostThe Vision is really good. Each new issue is crazier than the one before it.I only read the first issue.

this is why i was just gonna wait for the first collection book. idk how this industry is still getting by on these monthly (?) releases)

Anyone here read East of West? Awesome book. Just finished the third TP.
Also on to book 2 of Preacher. Holy shit it's everything--gross, shocking, touching, funny, engrossing...
You can get a free month of Marvel Unlimited if you use Doctor as a promo code. It only works for today.
Gwenpool #1 was garbage.
The Ultimates remains fantastic.
Standoff has been surprisingly good. Maria Hill being completely thrown under the bus was long overdue. I'm glad it's a small event.
Hercules is low-key awesome, so I hope people are reading it so they keep making it. I like the old gods versus new gods premise.

This is going to be great.
This is going to be great.
Picked up the last issue of the VARGR arc in James Bond. Really not that bad of a series, next issue introduces Spectre and is the beginning of a new arc.
Anyone who hasn't should really check out Tokyo Ghost. Phenomenal art and a really good story as well.
Got a 1 month trial for Marvel Unlimited. What's some stuff worth checking out? Probably gonna start on Immortal Iron Fist tomorrow as I've always wanted to read it.

Check the Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest events.
For standalone series, try Nextwave, Thor: God of Thunder, and Marvel: The End.
By Apollo Go To PostBatman 51 was perfection. Scott Snyder just gets Batman.
All Star Batman will be glorious.
Spoilers for DC's Rebirth event have come out. Sounds pretty ridiculous.
They're folding Watchmen into the DCU and have made it so that Doctor Manhattan was the creator of the New 52.
What do you think?

sounds like some dumb shit DC would do. Dr Manhattan isn't even a big deal to me, might be dumb but I think it's cool. What i think is retarded is three Jokers
Didn't they push Justice League #50 as this big reveal to who he finally was? i never bothered to read it because i've pretty much given up on DC

They still haven't settled on anything definitive for Joker. They don't seem to want to. I think having three of him is supposed to explain why he's so random and chaotic.
I think it sounds lame as hell. I hope they know what they're doing as I always preferred DC when it came to comics, but their movie/tv output is so trash I feel like they have no idea what they're doing anymore.
I also didn't even realize JL50 didn't come out yet. I was wondering why I never heard anything about it.

I'm dying laughing and shaking my head at this Captain America #1 spoiler
This has to be a swerve or Marvel has lost it

Spoiler tag it. I'm curious.
Also, does anyone here read East of West or Manhattan Projects? Jonathan Hickman is the man.

The creator of the DC universe has always had a blue hand. Also, if he's the creator of the new 52. He's the creator of the modern DC universe.
By Dipro Go To Postbasically Cap was a hydra agent all alongNahhhhhhh that's silly
Has to be a fakeout
By KingGondo Go To PostSpoiler tag it. I'm curious.I read East of West for the first two volumes. Never really was interested in Manhattan Projects
Also, does anyone here read East of West or Manhattan Projects? Jonathan Hickman is the man.
East of West was great but I was spending too much on comics for my liking and could never narrow it down to a few so I just quit all together.
Hickman writes boring comics with little to no story progression until the last page of an issue. He needs to fuck off and write some dull books that no one would read. We need more comic writers like Morrison. Crazy guys that like comics because you can literally do anything in them so they set out to do everything and anything under the sun.
East of West isn't everyone's cup of tea. The story is quite convoluted but he made me give a shit about a large part of the cast of dozens so that's an accomplishment. Almost done with TP5.
Manhattan Projects is delicious though. Weird and twisted, but fun as hell.

It's too large a retcon to be anything else. He spent his whole life undoing HYDRA. There is no twist that can justify his career as a long con.
By Jay Whatever Go To PostIt's too large a retcon to be anything else. He spent his whole life undoing HYDRA. There is no twist that can justify his career as a long con.it's such a stupid thing to even include. Even him being undercover is just a lame thing to do.
these leaks arent accidental anyway, it's always to push a comic but everyone knows its not legit unless in the .000000000001% chance it is, congrats on the WCW swerve and killing a character
We don't know if it's lame yet because it could set up an interesting story. I could see this leading to the wholesale destruction of HYDRA, which happened on Agents of SHIELD recently.

You have to remember Secret War changed things even though we don't know what those things are.
By Dipro Go To PostGondo recommend me a comic, needs to be self contained and finished.
i trust you.
Read the Nao of Brown. Everyone read The Nao of Brown.
Cap 1 was shit. The twist isn't even the worst thing about it. WHO SAID OKAY TO THAT NEW COSTUME REDESIGN?!?!
DC Rebirth is the best single issue event of all time.

Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 was pretty good. I liked the build up with the flashbacks leading up to the swerve with the HYDRA meeting invitation. It's fairly obvious that Cap is not himself. I'm thinking some kind of brainwashing/false memory shenanigans is happening, based on Red Skull's appearance here. I did not like seeing him throw Jack Flagg out of the plane - that was fucked up. Never seen this Free Spirit chick before.
Rebirth was weird and complicated. There's a lot going on that I don't understand because I'm not familiar with all the universe-rewriting history, and I didn't recognize some of the characters or fully understand why they were being referenced. In the narration there seems to be some kind of meta-discussion going on between DC editorial and the reader. There is a tyrannosaurus in the bat cave.

Dude the t-Rex has been in the Batcave for like 70 years. It, the penny, and the giant Joker card are always in the Batcave.
Anyways, rebirth is streering DC in the right direction. There is no greater example of what was lost in the nu52 than Green Arrow and Black Canary's love life. It was such a pure and honest love between two characters before nu52. They would fight and take breaks but at the end of the day GA and BC loved each other despite their flaws.
The Rebirth one shots show that DC writers are aware of what was lost and they're going to fix it.

Been slacking on purchasing, just placed an order for a bunch of diff comics to catch-up on.
#2 Black Panther
#6 #7 Sheriff of Babylon
#5 James Bond- I have #6, overlooked the fact I never bought this one. I haven't been able to finish this arc yet.
#2 Fix - Had to get this as a second printing variant, only one Midtown had in stock. Must mean people are really loving it.
#3 Fix
#1 Control - Really looking forward to this one
