I just wanted to talk about comics.
Still haven't read all 12 issues of the Fade Out in one sitting.
Currently reading Private Eye, the James Bond VARGR series and Sheriff of Babylon.
Sheriff of Babylon is excellent.

By blackace Go To Postit's super tough to follow comics in Japan
What do you want to know?
By blackace Go To Postwhat's good in the X titles?
It's a mess right now. I quit X-men when Bendis took over. Honestly have no idea what, or if any, title is good.
X titles have always had god tier runs then get ran into the ground... just wondered what happened with them
I mostly pick up Omnibusses or year volumes when I see something interesting.
But it's mostly superhero related.
Did just reread Lucifer though.

Uncanny x-men is decent. it follows Mags, Psylocke and couple other muties trying to prevent the assassination of healing mutants.
Was thinking of making this thread.
Really enjoying Descender.
I'm enjoying Daredevil and Batman Europa too.
The art in the new Deathstroke is good, but I feel the writing is letting it down.

I'll keep an eye on this thread, as I've totally fallen into the dark murky world of Comics again. I know it's not fond to overly talk about the other place, but ComicGAF is one of the last places I enjoy visiting and chatting shit with.
My main thing has been attempting to read Marvel 616 Universe in Chronological Order following http://cmro.travis-starnes.com's guide. So far I'm around 800 issues, and mainly enjoyed it.

By Baconsaurus Go To PostWhy is Image comics so good? Fuck Marvel and DC.
It's kind of crazy how amazing Image is. I remember when it launched and it was a bunch of Marvel and DC knock-offs that some how ended up being more fun and original in their storytelling than the books they copied.
I currently have the flu. So I am going through a lot of books right now. If you guys are interested in slice of life comics pick up Giant Days. It's about three roommates at a Uni in England. Tonally it's Scott Pilgrim meets Strangers in Paradise.
I agree with the Image love, I've blasted through The Walking Dead in a month and I picked up the Image Humble Bundle to be blown away with the selection they gave away on it too.
For the love of god, get rid of Venditti on Flash and put someone good..It has been over a decade since the last good Flash comic.
Fuck DC

I like a lot of the current Marvel books. Right now I'm really enjoying The Vision, All-New All-Different Avengers, New Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, Ms. Marvel, Sam Wilson, Spider-Woman, A-Force, Uncanny Inhumans, All-New Inhumans, Karnak, All-New Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Hercules, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Invincible Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Mighty Thor, Astonishing Ant-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Agents of SHIELD, and The Ultimates. There are a few others I'm not really sure about yet and the rest I still intend to catch up on. I'm trying to at least get through every book's first arc before deciding what to keep rolling with.
The Vision in particular is one of the more interesting characters right now because he's doing weird shit completely out of his character in ANADA that seems to be foreshadowing something important, and his solo book is way darker than anything else Marvel is doing. I like the spin they've put on Captain America with Sam Wilson, tackling some current social issues and having him openly take political stances and all that drama that brings with being a public figure. The Inhuman books are firing on all cylinders, especially Uncanny with that first Kang story. Squirrel Girl is consistently hilarious, though the artwork remains an eyesore.

That Humble Bundle was such a steal. Stray Bullets collection for $25 bucks.

Invincible
Saga (love love love this)

By blackace Go To Postah they are pimping the Avengers like they did with the X-titles in the 90s and 00s
As far as teams go there are three Avengers books, three X books, two Guardians books, two Inhumans books, and a handful of other teams - Illuminati, A-Force, Ultimates, Web Warriors, Squadron Supreme, AoS. They're spreading the love pretty evenly given that there's a lot of cross pollination going on these days - Kitty Pryde is a Guardian, Beast and Human Torch are with the Inhumans, Uncanny Avengers is half mutants, etc. The Avengers have the most solo books obviously - the only solo X books are the two Wolverines and Deadpool. And there are a few duos as well - Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur, Rocket & Groot, Starbrand & Nightmask, and soon Power Man & Iron Fist.
Oh, and there are five thousand Spider books.
By blackace Go To Postall Peter Parker?
Amazing Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
Spider-Man 2099

Spider-Woman
Spider-Gwen

Carnage
Venom: Space Knight
Web Warriors (a team of Spider-People from across the multiverse)
Spider-Man/Deadpool (Miniseries)
Amazing Spider-Man & Silk (Miniseries)
I know it's not... But I want to believe that it's Amazing Spider-man and Silkk the Shocker
and why is Venom a space knight?

Between this and the Thor 2 backing I just can't trust you.

I dunno, haven't read it. He's with the Guardians though so I guess it has something to do with that.

This thread got me itching to pick Saga back up, but I know if I buy the softcover editions I'll end up double-dipping later when the deluxe hardcover comes out.
Ah well. Probably still worth it.

Man, I'm struggling to read Saga. I know it has something great to offer, but I just can't get used to cartoon boobs and sex in my comics.

Things start out kinda weird and disorienting but the characters will hook you soon enough.
Also, if sex in comics is too distracting for you, please do not read Sex Criminals. lol.
Oh I've been warned about Sex Criminals! I think it's the shock more than anything else, I've only just started to branch away from DC and Marvel, so... it's like jumping from Disney to 18 rated movies!
Just ditch the big two. You won't miss them. You might miss Scott Snyder's Batman but it's coming to an end.

Vision writer Tom King will be taking over Batman..He's pretty good..I'd say he has potential to be better than Snyder
Ah, I can't move away from Marvel. I enjoy Marvel Unlimited too much, and it's strangely fun reading through all the Marvel backlog in Chronological order. There are some real good issues during the 60s and 70s. Some.

That's a rumor right now. Honestly I like Snyder but a lot of the Batman run is Greg putting out the best art work in any cape book. Detective should be good with Sean Murphy as the artist. I'm going to miss Greg's pencils. Can't wait to see Scott and Greg's Wonder Woman tho. I'll follow that team where ever they go.
Tom King is alright. Grayson is pretty great but nothing he's written as kept me coming back every month like the majority of Snyder's work has.
I know who is taking over Superman and Action Comics but I promised the writer (of one of the books) I wouldn't say shit. People are going to be in for a surprise.

I'm old and have been reading comics for a very long time. 80's and 90's Marvel was the last time I really cared about the majority of their titles.

That's because the heroes actually fought villains. Everything since Civil War has been hero vs hero or overly long drawn out story lines that don't lead anywhere.
I'm sure I read that Wolverine had died several times only to regenerate from a toe nail or something. I'm not a fan of that. If someone dies they should die. There's enough 'Universes' going for you to keep characters 'alive' elsewhere.
I don't mind reusing powers but everybody has to be clone or alternate Universe son/daughter/6th cousin and have the exact same powers...

Wolvie regenerating usually happens within a couple of panels.
Here's something you must understand about the big two. They write comics to sell comics. Their brand is big enough and popular enough that they don't have to put maximum effort into telling great stories. That's why there are so many crossovers and gimmicks like ANAD crap. Storytelling isn't their main concern. Selling comics and keeping their characters popular is their concern. The popular heroes will come back eventually. Did you notice that Steve Rogers was announced to come back as soon as Falcon's sales dipped?
