I think a little after that is when i lost interest issue to issue and swung back for the finale

This first issue is something else. I hope this ends up as good as his Fantastic 4 run is.
The art is really nice. Only like 10 pages in but the drawings are great, Checcheto is a nice draftsman but I hate how hair is colored. Specifically the hard edge used to color in the hairline/edges. It is annoying the fuck out of me.
I did a quick edit of a panel. Original on the left:
I wish the color artist used a softer brush/selection. Do comics release uncolored issues?
Edit: finished it. Liked it a lot and found the twist on established characters interesting.
These issues are monthly, right? Hopefully I don't forget about it.
Yea, it's monthly.
I don't know if they release uncolored issues. Never looked into it. Seems like a no.

Bros that fucking comic had me in tears during Peter and Ben’s conversation.
“Then wake up” is just perfect. Felt like something Hickman has been wanting to write for a long time
They might do a director’s cut that will include pencils, drafts, scripts, and few other things

Wednesday, the 21st.
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostWednesday, the 21st.thanks!
unfortunately the main artist is taking a 3 issue break after this, I hope whoever replaces him is half as good :(
Signed up for a free trial of marvel unlimited without knowing:
-new issues don't get uploaded until 3 months after physical release
-new comics are displayed in their "Infinity Comics" format. Panels are arranged in an endless vertical scroll.
-there is no option to display normal pages.
But
Marvel accidentally uploaded Ultimate Spider-Man #2 to the app(#1 still isn't available).
Apparently this happens often and they usually get removed within the day so if anyone else wants to do a quick free trial you can read it now(even if its only the vertical format)
Anyways, another good issue! The drawings were especially fantastic, draftsmanship really on display with the sick spider poses and I like the simple design of the starter suit. The Jonah/Ben bromance continues to be fun and the Shocker interactions were funny. I don't really like Peter revealing his identity to his daughter so soon, would rather it have been MJ first. but I do like the motivation behind changing to suit's colors to red and blue being to make it less scary to his daughter.

This is really inspired. The art direction and execution is great, and the paneling makes the action feel dynamic. I really do hope that the next artist can continue the feeling that this one established, while they're on break.
Loving everything about this so far. I do agree Sy. I kind of wish that MJ knew first, but this being the reason why he changes the suit is cool af.

warning the first five issues say they're tied to a marvel event but they're really not. They were just branded Dark Reign
By Call Sign: Apollo Go To Posthttps://www.comicbooktreasury.com/jonathan-hickman-fantastic-four-reading-order/You sure? Started the 1st issue and definitely feels like I'm missing some context for the state of things.

Hickman will catch you up. You don’t have to read DR
Hickman was on something else with that FF run and then Avengers: Time Runs out, into Secret Wars.
It kind of sucks that some of his ideas for the X-Men's Krackoa age got changed, after he left. A decent amount of the themes didn't get followed up on. Not all of it was bad, but there was a dip in quality that's apparent. Even more now that it's ending.
Al Ewing's X-Men Red was very good. Ewing's work is good, in general, tbh.
Immortal X-men wasn't that bad either.

Hickman’s X-men was just a little too progressive for Marvel. He was trying to do some movie the medium forward type of shit
By Call Sign: Apollo Go To PostSY if you want to see some good art check out Jerome Opeña and Esad Ribić workI've known about those two for years lol. I don't read comics but I follow a lot of comic artists.
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostHickman was on something else with that FF run and then Avengers: Time Runs out, into Secret Wars.I don't understand, is it common for writers to not finish stories in comics? Is there a chance that Hickman could leave Ultimate Spider-Man?

In the case of X-men it was a mix of things. Covid probably played a role, a bunch of writers wanted more time to work with certain aspects of the story, it didn't have an end date, and Hickman's own thoughts on it changed. It was just that big of an endeavor.
I think X-men was a special case, because the only other time I've heard of someone leaving something like that (especially a project with that many eyes on it) is if health / life issues forced it, or it doing poorly enough to get canceled.
As for Spiderman, I doubt it. There are other writers working on different stories within the confines of the universe he setup with "The Ultimates," (Peach Momoko on Ultimate X-men), but I haven't seen anything signifying where it would be anywhere near as long reaching as the Krakoa age for X-men. This is much smaller in comparison (The Ultimates, Spiderman, Ultimate X-men, and Black Panther).

The Hickman X-men stuff is complicated. Marvel seems to have shifted their plans after the studio set a movie date, the other writers wanted more time, Hickman wanted more time, Marvel said no, and because of covid issues causing delays everything got fucked
He probably wont leave Spider-man until he’s done with his story. There was a rumor Marvel gave him Spidey so he wouldn’t leave the company but that’s just a rumor
I finished the Dark Reign FF issues. No clue what the fuck the secret wars, illuminati, or the beyonder are. Not sure why Venom is working for Norman, just felt like I was missing a ton of context the entire time. Pretty sure this was an interlude in some bigger story so I couldn't get much out of it beyond '' ok mr fantastic is smart".
Not sure if I want to bother with the rest.

Started reading House of X, the art is great.
Also, comics and the reading order of particular author runs don't need to be so fucking confusing. Why the fuck would they make shit like this

House of X and Power of X are meant to be read in a certain order. HoX 1, PoX 1, and so on.

It's just a prologue to Hickman's FF run. You won't get much out of reading just those issues but stuff comes back around

I really hate Marvel U’s UX because of stuff like this
By s y Go To PostReading Powers of X #1 and I'm pretty fucking lost.Powers of X was confusing as FUCK but House of X#2 is helping me piece this shit together a bit. Moira's origin was dope.
Ultimate Spidey #3 is out, gonna read that later.
Moira is easily one of my favs of this era. Abigail Brand too, for that matter.
Ultimate Spidey #3 is good, although it did feel a bit short. I'm interested to see where this relationship with Harry goes. Seems like the seeds for them having a falling out, as well as him needing to get his own suit, have been planted. There is also still the fact that MJ doesn't know, and whatever her reaction will be, still looming in the background.

Just finished House of X #4 and..........Hickman is fucking cooking(still have no idea what is happening in X3/Y1000 tho) but Pepe Larraz's and R.B Larraz have been going crazy since page 1(and Marte Garcia's colors for both series!)
Another beautiful page but the way Scott was talking here I expected him to nuke the Mother Mold by himself.
By Pepe LarrazR.B Larraz's Magneto drawings in the beginning of PoX #2 were particularly good His face does not fit his brolic ass build tho lol.
