In GAF-Hop, there's usually never any download links to copyrighted material. What does get posted are links to blog posts containing the track (they just stream the song nowadays), Soundcloud links (from the artist themselves), streams, etc.

And when direct links to music gets posted, it's always free material like mixtapes. GAF-Hop's music linking hasn't really changed since it first started and we've never gotten a notice from the staff and Blackace has always been there from the beginning so if anything illegal did arise, we would know right away. As far as I know, NeoGAF hasn't gotten in any trouble from GAF-Hop's posting habits so I see no reason for this forum to get any copyright notices.

Nah that shit never works. Because people get heated about it and it boils over. Its one thing to get heated over dumb stuff like sports, because most rational people can let it go. But with politics, that stuff operates on a much deeper level and I think people have a harder time accepting alternating view points.

Almost no one ever uploads anything and posts it on GAF-Hop. The exceptions are when people make continuous mixes like Blackace or create compilations from their favorite artist and posts it in the thread. And the former is such a rare occurrence (only me and Des are that I can't see it being an issue since it's never been one on GAF. At the end of the day, it's all up to you and if GAF-Hop ever transitions over here, it won't ever cause any copyright issues.

Hi all, a quick update.

Sharp and I are busting ass on getting the core backend working. We are almost there. We've tackled some huge hurdles as (some info up above if you wanna read the technical side of things), and we should have a beta site here shortly in less than a week, and an alpha version today or tomorrow.

We'll also make sure to migrate the current user data from this forum to the new one so nobody will have to sign-up again.

It's really hard to commit to any exact timelines because we do have crazy busy fulltime jobs, but we are busting as much ass as we can. Stay with us, and best thing to do is keep posting.

With Soundcloud, they just take it down. I had a Boards of Canada track where it was like 4 minutes of silence at the end but if you run it through a compressor you can actually hear a super-quiet track still playing. I hosted that for people who were into the band, it was up for like a year until SC just took it down due to copyright. But it wasn't a big thing.
