Symptoms
About 1 in 5 people infected with Zika virus become ill (i.e., develop Zika).
The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, or conjunctivitis (red eyes). Other common symptoms include muscle pain and headache. The incubation period (the time from exposure to symptoms) for Zika virus disease is not known, but is likely to be a few days to a week.
The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting for several days to a week.
Zika virus usually remains in the blood of an infected person for a few days but it can be found longer in some people.
Severe disease requiring hospitalization is uncommon.
Deaths are rare.

By 33MillionDollarMen Go To PostThe problem is what it does to pregnancies/fetuses.
I was gonna add this to my post but I didn't make myself sad by googling pics.
By DY_nasty Go To Posti'm not educated on zika like that but all i saw was one pic to feel i knew enough
Yep.
Damn nature, you scary.
So many things can go wrong in utero then you got shitstains trying to close clinics and stuff.
In some of these other countries it's going to be hard to keep women from getting pregnant given the whole Catholic thing and looking down on any form of birth control. Just depressing.

As dick swingers the danger for us is practically none. Once you contract the virus you're then immune from further infection and have nothing to worry about.
It's women who need to take extreme caution in the areas that have been named in the CDC alert. Most Central and South American countries are now asking women to not conceive for the next 12 to 24 months, which is absurd, but puts the situation into perspective.

By CRUD Go To PostThe have to start thinking about using condoms until this is resolved in some fashion. All forms of birth control need to be available on the table due to this crisis. Condoms aren't enough tbh.

The fact that USA is also affected means it will have some kind of solution eventually, but meanwhile I wonder if we'll see a real impact in birth rate in the next few years and how it will affect economy/society. Can't wait to live in a world without dengue/malaria/zika tho.
Elsk what is your opinion, as a medical professional, if I should have my baby despite just having visited a country with the virus?
