League I'm in starts up in a few weeks. I really need some new hoop shoes. I've been using the same dusty pair since like 2011. Hasn't impacted my work on the court but for my safety, especially after fuking my ankle in Dec 2014, I need some new ones.
What do yall suggest

Was checking out the new Hyperdunks a few weeks back, they're fucking hideous. The 2k12/2k13 Hyperdunks were god tier.
the lebron soldiers are dope and not OD heavy. i think the latest version is the 9 or something like that

Appreciate suggestions. What about kd or Kobe shoe? My reading shows they are really light but low tops got me giving pause tbh
id suggest getting some goggles and a mouth piece too
one thing i've learned is a lot of guys are out of control and it doesn't take much to get an elbow in your mouth and or eye

I'm cool on the goggles, but I got a mouth piece tho. Elbows fly everywhere in rec and pick up games.
By ph33nix Go To PostYou're not wrong. I had two pairs of these.
the goat
Ended up getting the Curry Two Elites
Really comfortable especially around the ankle area. $130 for these vs $200+ for the kyries, durants, kobes, etc. Will try them at my campus gym tomorrow at work. Start breaking them in before my game tomorrow night. I knew my current hoop shoes were far gone, but trying on modern shoes was eye opening af. Can't believe I went 5 years before replacing my current pair. Never again.

I'll let you know how they feel on Tuesday. I'm not really a shoe guy, but I went into House of Hoops and everybodys shoe in there was $220+. Naw, not today. These for $130...I can rock with. Need to see how they feel with an ankle brace on though.
Smokey i got the curry two iron sharpens while back. Feels really good for the price and didn't have to break in the shoe. Had some d rose shoes before and my ankles were fucking dead every time I played, so these shoes are a god send. Really love em

Damn, this is music to my ears and identical to where i'm at.

Played for about 1.5 hr during lunch. Man what a difference. I am so used to not attempting to do certain things because of my previous shoes, but with these I felt none of that. The grip was good. Shoe felt good in the ankle area. Its a bit tight on my feet right now, but I chalk that up to me needing to adjust to a new shoe and a little break in. Best of all my damn feet don't hurt at all after playing.
What a time

Have you got wide feet Smokey? That's the biggest issue for me, most of them are narrow AF and I need to go up a full size to have enough width. Slightly concerned with the Currys not being wide enough for me

Not really. I just finished playing in them in my Rec League game. They already felt a bit looser on the sides from playing in them during my lunch break. Didn't even think about it tonight.

I've got slightly raised arches though.

The DRose along with the TMACs were the only Adidas shoes I rocked with, and probably my last. I hurt by feet and ended up in a boot in both. I used to be loyal to Nike and never had any problems in them. We'll see how these Curry's hold up.
I was crazy growing up. I thought foot pain was like lifting pain. I thought my feet were getting stronger lol... Those tmacs had the best heels ever though. No Nike I tried ever came close. I really got spoiled by those shoes.
The tmacs are what forever shook me from low tops tbh. That injury might of been worse than the one that happened in Dec 2014. To this day I start sweating when I pick up a low top shoe.
Low tops ain't for me. I know it's down to luck more than anything when it comes to spraining your ankle, but it seems to happen every time I have the gall to wear lows.
No more.
No more.
I'm lucky to have never had an ankle injury of any real severity... I did hyper extend a knee due to shit soles though. Never hooped in Jordan's again after that.
Foot sprains are really the only major bball injurys I've had. It's fuked because you obviously rely on your feet to everything. Then you start second guessing and becoming hesistant. That pop feel on a foot injury is the worst. When I was deciding on shoes I really wanted the KDs, but just couldn't do it. I'd hold them and start picturing the different ways my foot would die .

Its also why I put up with heavy and LBJs - you might miss 6 inches in them, but your foot is safer than the president wearing those.
I already knew it was stupid going in but I played ball today in some XIV retros after work cause I didn't have anything else on me. Holy fuck. I think I ran up the court maybe 2 or 3 times before the arch area in my feet felt like they were on fire. If my arches could talk

I'm amazed how many guys are playing in low top this season.
first look at the KD9s if anyone is interested. coming out end of June. Nike must be feeling the heat from UA because these are back down to $150 from $175 for the KD8. cant wait to try these on to see if they sit as high as they look. that's gonna feel weird as fuck if so. that space between the heel and the little inner bootie worries me too. seems like slippage just waiting to happen. you can see it better in the white pair

Anyone have the Curry Lows? Considering getting these to kick with/work out in. And yes, I'm a Giants fan.
There's gonna be an A's color way too. http://sneakernews.com/2016/03/04/under-armour-curry-two-low-battle-of-the-bay/

Bough two pairs of Curry 2s while I was away
Lows in red
Mids in The Storm
Not feeling the lows yet - seems like my heel is constantly slipping out. Also the colourways are horrible for the lows. I would have bought a pair of the birthdays in low instantly if they had them.

thinking of copping some hyperdunk 15s so supplement my curry 2s. im more concerned with colorway and integrity than anything.
By Smokey Go To PostThose lows look like a disaster waiting to happen tbhAn achilles disaster to be more precise.
By domino Go To Posthave any of yall ever played in those super high top like the recent Kobes?naw
highest ive ever gone was those lbj 6s
maybe its just my hyper agile ankles, but certain highs legit cut into my leg
By domino Go To Postyall really shook about lows like that huh.
i've sprained my ankle a few too many times to even give lows a chance. plus it just looks weird, like im playing ball in a tennis shoe.
Yeah I'll probably use the lows for working out.
Never been able to hoop in lows without feeling like my ankles were so loose they would roll over at any minute. Bought these the last time I was in the US, and they weren't too bad tho, biggest issue was them rubbing on the underside of my ankle bone.
Highest I've gone in is the 2012 Hyperdunks, which were awesome. Any higher though and I think they'd be too restrictive
