By 33MillionDollarMen Go To PostThere's an update coming? Man I just don't pay attention lol.yeah, doubles and a bunch of quality of life fixes. the matchmaking switch with TTK was actually what fucked me up more than moving. yeah, i've got router issues but as soon as i was no longer stuck playing australians and frenchmen in pvp i got gud again. update is tonight.
By reilo Go To PostHouston coming to Portland on Wednesday and they play at Golden State tomorrow. Big game.vonleh still ain't shit?
By unknown Go To PostWashington being much worse this season is a surprisenaw it really isn't
wittman is terrible and that roster has no gel outside of wall/gortat
By DY_nasty Go To Postvonleh still ain't shit?He had a positive net rating for the entire month of January and he looks like he belongs on the basketball court in 15-20mpg nowadays. He's out with an ankle injury right now, but he's not so awful and the team is playing well even with him as a starter. Still have no idea how to project him. Ed Davis junior right now.

guy doesn't even look like he can tie his own shoes when he's injured. there's zero in-between. he's either a borderline all-star or joey graham
Yea, that was basically Batum for all of last season. His wrist was completely fucked as was his mind because of his divorce that he was going through at the time. When he's healthy, he's really fucking good.
By jjasper Go To PostSo many fired coaches yet Joerger still roams the sideline.Joerger ain't loosing this job.
Kings about to finish with the 7th worst record in the league in a season where they fired a coach:

By unknown Go To Postdam karl cant catch a break, also kings go through coaches like crazy. phil gon fuck around and get karl to coach melo again.Karl brought a lot of this on himself. His return to coaching was a disaster he helped make.

Guys, Portland is 1 win away from a .500 record 2/3 into this season. This is quite fascinating and I don't know what to make of it.
By diehard Go To PostSo, worse than Hayward?Yep.
But diehard, we need to focus on the real enemy and ultimate end goal here: making sure the Rockets miss the playoffs and the Blazers and Jazz make it.

By reilo Go To Postand the Blazers and Jazz make it...and you lost me.
By Kabro Go To PostpreachI mean, the alternative are the Kings? They won't make it. If the Rockets were to miss the playoffs, the Jazz and Blazers would need to make the playoffs for that scenario to shake out.
..and you lost me.
Basically: Houston loses @GSW/@POR (back-to-back), Jazz win @DAL/@NOP (back-to-back), and the Rockets are 9th seed.
By diehard Go To PostSo, worse than Hayward?ehhhh... If nothing else, I love Batum's ability to prevent Kemba from completely fucking himself and the team non-stop. I don't know if Hayward would've had the gal to just show up and basically demand the offense run through him.
I would love for the Rockets to miss the playoffs but even at this point, it still seems like they have too much talent to actually miss them.
The Rockets can survive losing anyone but Harden, but if the Blazers have to go any real stretch without CJ or Lillard, or the Jazz go any stretch without Hayward, Favors, or Gobert.. it's over.
I was starting to think Sac had a chance a few weeks ago but now.. ugh.

fuck the queens.
Sac would need a crazy win streak post-Karl to make it. And for Rox or Mavs to fall off. I feel like one of Utah/Portland make it.
Karl's mantra that he'd rather lose playing his style than win doing otherwise eventually came to be his end. That and that he seemed to give no fucks about coaching and left that to his assistant, leaving many players confused as to who was the actual coach. He asked Vlade to get him vets, more talent and some of his guys, so Vlade made that trade and signed vets.
If you're only going to coach one way no matter what, with one system no matter what then you better learn to cherry pick your jobs like Phil Jackson. If not, you'll falter outside of the ideal circumstances, as we've seen with Karl and D'Antoni.

By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostHow the fuck do you semi announce a coach firing "in a few days". That's pretty unprofessional, no?
Have you not being paying attention to the Kings?
the problem with firing coaches is there isn't much out there to replace them with...
Brad Stevens is going be rich

The delayed firing is dumb. Team is on a plane to Philly right now. I get some vibe that the delay is over Karl's payout. You got to put the team ahead of that.
I find it amazing that of all the players that Karl reached on the Kings it ended up being Rondo who bought into his system the hardest
By blackace Go To PostI find it amazing that of all the players that Karl reached on the Kings it ended up being Rondo who bought into his system the hardestwhat other coach in the league would allow rondo's bullshit? dude is probably one of the biggest things wrong with the kings.
I still can't believe Fisher got fired. Knicks were playing well above reasonable expectations and he had trash to work with.

By Fenderputty Go To PostSo 6 coaches toast at midway point and Byron ain't one. He's here to stay, sorry Laker fans.
By vic Go To PostHave you been watching the Knicks these past few weeks?Yeah, I don't know how they even look competitive most nights. I mean shit, Fisher is the mind that saw a reasonably functional post game in Robin Lopez. His starting point guard shouldn't have been a starting point guard five years ago. Melo was playing average defense.
What else was he supposed to do with garbage? If he didn't have those guys so prepared to start the season, they're neck to neck with Philly and Brooklyn right now.
jjasper, I might take back what I said earlier:
Luke Walton to MEM, leggo!
Kevin Lipe @FlyerGrizBlogHE BETTER NOT INCLUDE GASOL IN THAT STATEMENT AFTER HE HURT HIS KNEE WITHOUT CONTACT?!
Joerger then said he wasn't going to rest anybody in Brooklyn because "we've had plenty of days off between games."

I was with you until about 3 weeks ago. I would still be fine if he wasn't fired today. But after watching 3 weeks of basketball where my repeated thought process was "wtf is this team doing? They're running their offense like they have no discernible fucking clue what to do". I wasn't shocked in the least. In reality, few people noticed because it's so obscure to people. But it was the stupidest fucking way to run that offense.
The defensively slipping was equally problematic.
The team regressed pretty badly and I'm not sure that 50 games in, that's acceptable. You don't go from routinely having double digit leads against the better teams in the league to falling into massive holes time and time again without errors in execution and those were clear as day.
Phil talks a lot about mindfulness training. Among other things, the whole "being in the present moment" notion is supposed to be to allow you to instantly recognize the situation and adapt. It was taking them 3 quarters to figure out what worked and what didn't when the matchup advantages were apparent and player strengths and weaknesses were too. They lost a bunch of close games, but that was more on the opponents letting their foot off the gas pedal than the Knicks executing.

If Phil Jackson doesn't want to coach the Knicks, he ought to let someone else
The embarrassment of his unfilmed "Real Housewives" episode didn't cost Fisher his job as Knicks coach, but it did start him on a slippery slope toward his firing on Monday. That October weekend odyssey was Fisher's choice, and the blame for it all – including the failure to return to New York in time to conduct a Knicks practice – belongs to him.
Still, sometimes culture influences behavior inside organizations. Think Fisher never saw Phil Jackson bolting town to see Jeanie Buss? As one member of the Knicks organization wondered, "Where would [Fisher] get the idea that it was OK to fly to California on an off day to see your girlfriend?"
For better and worse, yes, Jackson's lifestyle and sensibilities set the tone with the Knicks. Fisher lost players with his discombobulated rotations and revolving roles. Inside the locker room, the Knicks had come to struggle with understanding how they fit into this team, league sources said. Above Fisher, Jackson worried about how that impacted the development of the roster. What's more, there were times Jackson felt Fisher had strayed too far from the triangle offense, still a sacred part of the Knicks president's program.
His coaching tree is too small, too unaccomplished to cling so tightly to it. Rambis and Brian Shaw have no business as candidates to coach the Knicks – but there's a world of Jackson sycophants that delivers the idea credibility.http://sports.yahoo.com/news/if-phil-jackson-doesn-t-want-to-coach-the-knicks--he-ought-to-let-someone-else-061839486.html
lol seriously
the knicks have multiple rotation players who wouldn't get playing time in philly
I'm just baffled by the scapegoating by NY altogether

Fisher tried to push past that triangle offense, and Phil Jackson resisted those wishes. Jackson doesn't want to come downstairs and do the job himself, but yet he still demands it done his way, on his terms. His coaching tree is full of failures trying to be him, trying to run his vision.🔥
It wasn't that the Knicks weren't using enough Triangle, it's that they were using it like ass. I posted at some point that the Knicks had a damn good offensive rating when they were executing it well, it was like top 6 or 7 during that 10 game stretch they played really well and climbed all the way to close to top 10 for the whole year despite objectively not having top 10 talent.
I can say this till I'm blue in the face, unless you know what this is supposed to look like, you can't be as baffled by it as I was for almost 3 weeks. It was not much different than some other more popular offensive miscues I highlighted in other posts.
Except Fisher didn't try to push passed the Triangle. They used it plenty. Outside of Jose Calderon drag screens, they used it almost exclusively in the half court. I can call bullshit when a reporter takes advantage of a public's ignorance.
