Yeah, like ive said before it would be the fucking best to see Kobe and Whiteside on the same team. Shame it didn't happen

Mock drafts have Dejounte Murray going #10 after he blew up for 30+ now. Pretty meteoric rise for a frosh who didn't start the season even on the radar. Seattle-Tacoma metro continues to put out talent.
So clippers going after durant in the summer?
Kinda makes sense to part ways with BG.
Why not a swap before the deadline then?
But yeah Fuck that scenario though

Clippers have been horrible ass for their entire time. They finally have two Franchise players and a core that can get them playoff seeding guaranteed and they want to blow that up?
How is a worse team, lowered ticket sales, lowered tv ratings going to help them? Is Doc going to really stick around for 10 years to work through a rebuild?

BG talks supposedly were Denver saying "Hey, heard you and Blake were having a rough go of things, hmu if you need help"
And then The Clips were like "New phone, who dis?"

By romrei Go To PostBlake grifin in green seems confirmed
Monroe and MCW for Blake seems like a bad deal.
If Chris Paul bolts from the Clippers, it'll be for the Knicks to play with Melo. A Melo, KP, and CP3 trio would be pretty crazy shit.
I'm ok with dealing Blake, but my ideal would still be Blake+Redick for KD+Ibaka. I know that's one-sided for the Clippers by far, but the only way that they could trade for KD is if OKC plans on dealing Ibaka. I suppose OKC could always deal Ibaka in a separate trade, though. Regardless, I don't see any trade this year allowing them to make a deeper playoff run than what they already have, so they might as well wait until the offseason to see what they can get for BG (unless they suddenly miraculously gel when he comes back).

By 3SidedPolygons Go To PostGaurantee Kobe falls out of the top 10 in NBA Rank.
I don't trust those hacks to do anything right
Ranked him 12th lulz.
ESPN so predictable.

By reilo Go To PostSounds about right.
Higher up than all Lakers on practically every record, as many if not more chips, all star appearances, etc etc. But put 5 Lakers ahead of him because fuck Kobe.
Only guy in history with 30 K points and 6 K assists. 5 Chips. 3rd all time in scoring.
Player X with his accomplishments would be ranked top 5. But "Fuck Kobe" gotta factor into it.
By reilo Go To PostStill sounds about right.
As co-captain of the Fuck-Kobe Slaent bandwagon, sure it does.
I expected the "Fuck Kobe" factor to put him at 10 instead of the 7-9 range most NBA players/coaches put him in. But considering those guys there are all hacks, I figured 11-15 was more likely.
By Moris Go To PostStop respecting ESPN brehs.
I'm not sure calling them a bunch of hacks qualifies as respect.

Lebron went 2 for 6 in the Finals and may never win another chip. He's the only top 10 player with a losing record in the Finals despite joining and forming multiple Super teams. But he's ranked X because this ranking system that I made up has him higher.
Analytics guys with no basketball experience using the analytics they invented to rank guys sounds like being a hack to me.
Best Posters on Slaent should be ranked under the following formula: (Number of Posts - Number of words per average post + number of responses per average post)/number of references to WARP^2
Henceforth all ratings will be based on this. I'm a genius.
the top 10 is going to be MJ Magic KAJ Bird TD Shaq Dream Wilt LBJ Bill Russell...in whatever order
honestly.. I wouldn't have LBJ on the list and Kobe at like 10th... but hey oh well

Kobe's ahead of Dream/Shaq/LBJ.
He's in the Magic/Bird/TD conversation. Not the Malone/Dr. J/Oscar Robertson conversation - which is where ESPN put him.
This isn't to say that LBJ and even Steph won't eventually pass him up. They just might, and in the case of LBJ probably will. But there's gotta be some serious devaluing of Kobe to put him in the sphere of Malone and Dr. J instead of Magic and Bird.

Why? You've to go do a lot of weird double standards all added up to get to that point.
Defense matters - it's why TD and Russell are so high up, but Kobe being better than Magic and Bird defensively? nope doesn't matter.
Kobe played with Shaq, that's a knock - but Magic/Kareem and Russell having 8 HOFer's? not a knock.
Kobe only has two finals MVP's - not good - but Bird only having 2, Kareem only having 2, Magic only having 3? That's all good.
You've got to do a bunch of those kinds of things to reach those kinds of conclusions. 5 chips, 7 finals, practically every franchise record, dominate a decade, top 3 in scoring, offense and defense. Just doesn't add up unless there's a devaluing for some other reason.
He's in the Magic/Bird realm in terms of offensive/defensive skill set, winning, domination of a decade, achievements. But as a matter of preference, or something that allows their heavily stacked teams throughout their entire tenure and short careers to not be taken negatively he's not given the benefit of the doubt between the 3 of them.
But to not even be placed in that realm? to be in a realm of a bunch of guys that have one chip, if that, to their name and like half his list of accomplishments?
It's just - weird.
There are 4 Lakers ahead of him on the list. Probably ahead of Dream too.

it's funny to get bent out of shape over let's say 3 slots... Kobe is one of the greatest players ever... Dream did chip once with no other HoFers and barely all-stars...His 2nd he had Glide
By unknown Go To Postno melo or lance tonight. playoffs are looking less likely, bad timing.
I really think this is the result of that stretch where they shortened the rotation down to 8 guys. About two weeks of that and the sore knees and sore groins and sore legs started piling up.

I personally think he's at worst 7. So it's 5 slots.
Getting bent out of shape over rankings and sports is what sports fans do, is it not? But yea I guess you've got a point, I'm sure I'm taking this too seriously.

that's true but you wouldn't have ranked him above 2 of them so franchise records seem unimportant... I mean KAJ, Wilt and Shaq weren't drafted by the Lakers... Wilt was almost done with the NBA by the time he got there.

Jordan/Russell/Magic/Kareem/Wilt/ are my top 5. Bird/TD/Kobe I can put in any order as 6-8.
But guys like Shaq and LBJ and Dream - especially guys like Dr. J. and Oscar Robertson and Malone? Yea, that's a lower class of folks.

That's not a bad list but I really vaule pivot men... and like you said D counts and Dream was one of the best ever on D
I would also put Kobe over Shaq and LBJ. Shaq's deficiency at the FT line is reason enough for him to be out of the top 10. He started an NBA trend that is only now being addressed. He also showed up out of shape to like every season but two. There's a reason the Lakers traded him when they did and stuck with Kobe. Shaq could have been top 5 if he had half of Kobe's work ethic. At his most dominate, I think he's better than Kobe but we're looking holistically at careers here. Shaq's last 7 years were largely ineffectual compared to Kobe's last 3.
MJ, Kareem, Magic, Wilt, Dream, TD, Kobe, Russell, Wilt, Bird in no particular order.
