By KingGondo Go To PostThe piece they wrote after Blatt's firing didn't put the Cavs in the best possible light imo. They literally write nothing of any value. Just write a lot about LBJ.
And Woj is notorious for writing pieces that put players/coaches/agents in a good or bad light depending on the access he's seeking.
Which brings in page hits for ESPN (to some extent) but thats it.
Windhorst in particular is a just a sycophant. Reading anything he puts out is just a pure waste of time.
ESPN sources say Suns have strong interest in Steve Nash for bench vacancy but Nash not ready at this time to jump into full-time coaching
Luke Walton Effect.

I was really sad he left for the Warriors, apparently they offered him a spot in the coaching staff right before the lakers offered him one.
By Kabro Go To Posti can't vouche for steve's knowledge of Xs and Os, but the reports when he was here in LA was that the rookies, especially Clarkson, couldn't praise his teaching anymore and flourished because of Nash.Nash has no interest in being a head coach. Or full time coach. His consultancy gig with the Warriors requires him to be there 3 - 5 days a month. And even then, that required a lot of persuasion on the W's end.

Literally no reason for him to accept a coaching gig anywhere that takes him away from his kids. Even LAL/LAC would mean being away from home often enough that he'd probably pass it up.
Guy is rich as hell (must have made over 150M including endorsements), and wants to spend time with his kids. He's on the Mallorca soccer club board as a consultant too. Which is owned by Sarver. The two are actually fairly close.
Nash is a brilliant basketball mind. His x & o's and communication won't be a problem, I think he'll be a great coach. Someday (I still think he'd need to sit on a bench for 2 years, but he practically co-coached most of the Suns teams). It's whether he really has any desire to do it. And at this point in his life, he's made it very clear, he doesn't have that desire.
And I knew this BEFORE the latest round of articles.
I see the Suns going in one of three directions.
One, Getting Thibs and perpetuating the myth that they're even slightly close to contending.
Two, Going after Luke Walton and doing a "semi-rebuild". Similar to what they did with Bled/Dragic, trade for young guys with any hint of promise, and even more picks.
Three, going full clown shoes and getting Mike D` on the premise that it would be attractive for Nash to sit on that bench behind Mike and eventually take over.
The worst part is, the Luke Walton option may be the best one. Which should scream delulu to everyone.

getting through to players' heads. what makes phil and pops great coach is their communication skills.
no doubt, if he ever does take up coaching, he'll be a great one.

But other than that, he can sit back, stay with the Warriors and ride his way to another chip. And why not?
I mean, he could just have an overwhelming desire to be a head coach. But I don't see why. Or he's getting PAIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
If I'm wanting a head coaching position and I'm Luke, I've gotta be thinking my stock is the highest right now. The only reason we're even talking about him is because of this opportunity he had with Kerr out.
RT @SpearsYahooNBA Suns have promoted assistant coach Earl Watson to interim head coach, a source told Yahoo Sports

Eh I bet a lot of coaching assistants get all kinds of heads up for positions and turn it down just based on timing, location and the team. I mean look at Ty Lue, it's not like there's a dearth of pissed off owners and players who will provide an opening.

Lue's name was thrown around for years too... A lot of them guy interview for the jobs offered but must not say the right things. Part of being a head coach is kissing the owner's butt and getting along with the GM.

Lots of them are assistants and not head coaches for a reason. Lots of interim coaches never get fully locked in as head coach. Lots wouldn't want the pressure and the propensity to get fired for it either. And less bullshit to deal with day to day.
By giririsss Go To PostYeah, can't say I agree either. Also some people just prefer to keep their family planted. Assuming a coaching role elsewhere would be uprooting them or having to live apart.

Maybe, maybe not. My point being, a prudent man might not take that chance if sure things are being offered now
Edit: career jack hole SAS just said he's heard Byron is gone this summer and the job is Luke's if he wants it

Lakers hire D'Antoni again I will laugh. I don't even think D'Antoni would accept if the Lakers go to him and request him.
How many coach vacancies are there right now?
Brooklyn
Houston
Phoenix
Cleveland, until Ty Lue
I don't know if Minnesota counts because I do not know if Sam Mitchell is interim.
There were at least 6 or 7 coaches fired in the last 6-8 months.

To celebrate Lunar/Chinese New Years according to NBA mandate, the Kings were to give out a t-shirt celebrating the Year of the Monkey. Unfortunately, the first home game during this period rolled over into the first of Febuarary and Black History Month. The Year of the Monkey shirts were seen as some as possibly offensive for being handed out on the first day of Black History Month, so all the free t-shirts were removed.
