Hoping to get home in time for Viola/Nap today. Fell down some stairs late last night and feel terrible today. Really did my elbow.
I don't wanna comment too much on the game yesterday because it's mostly all been said about bad individual performances, and because whining about Arsenal is passe, but man, watching these highlights again and the last couple weeks it's truly shamefully bad team play. Off the ball movement is atrocious. What happened to the overlapping runs and defense shifting stuff we were showing off at the beginning of the season? There are moments of players literally standing around while things are happening, not closing down players, not making runs behind.... Just doing fuck all. Looking at the central midfield, we got nothing. No energy. No incisiveness. No creativity. Poor Ozil has had to drop back and have us almost playing a 442 because of the lack of anything coming from deep. This in turn leads to Sanchez and Welbeck having to take deeper touches as well, and in turn makes it harder to make a proper effort on goal even when we do move the ball. Less said about the array of trash we're giving time at RW the better. We are playing a possession game with people who can't retain or pass the ball very well. And a counterattacking game with no one capable of playing the ball through the midfield on breaks.

Koscielny at least will spray a good through ball here and there, cause the others aren't. I fear this might be the match of Napoli's comeback. They've had a rough couple of weeks following Higuain's sudden (but not unexpected) fall from grace, and now the scudetto dream is all they have left. Even so, if they win tonight, it'll be mostly because Fiorentina are currently paying the inhumane push from the first half of the season. Their results haven't been that bad, actually, but they've been mostly scraping by. Right now they just don't have what it takes to stop a top(-ish) team, as the Tottenham game has shown.
England gonna play Australia at the SoL apparently. Hope I can get tickets, last time England played here the atmosphere was incredible... got a bit nasty, unfortunately. Think we played against Turkey.

All of the sudden West Brom/Leicester is the sexy fixture for tomorrow. That front three of Rondon, Berahinho and Sessegnon looked a handful against Palace.

My main problem is the lack of intensity at the club from the Board all the way down to the squad. Nobody is accountable. It is the same excuses every time. Wish Wenger had just said on Sunday that it is unacceptable and it won't happen again. Doesn't matter if that is United's best 11 or worst. Totally unacceptable performance.
And honestly, even if we do win the league we would be the most feeble champions in recent memory. It would vindicate Wenger in his mind and he would ignore the glaring issues.
Right not I can't see it going any other way than us finishing 3rd or 4th this year, another poor summer and then next year finishing somewhere between 3rd and 5th and being miles off the top.
Love Wenger. Best manager Arsenal have ever had. Proper legend. Second best manager in PL history. But, I don't think he is getting through to the players anymore and if he is, what he is telling them is not getting it done.
This team has clear mental issues and has for the past 10 years. The only constant is Wenger. Just look at our record in the CL, against Chelsea away, and United away and you can see something is clearly wrong. Whatever it is about Wenger and those games has infected the squad. He always says the team is "nervous" for these games.
Wenger is nervous. Can't have a nervous man leading men that rely on confidence.
