One of the last games I played was Persona 3 FES (back in late 2014). That game was very 'anime' in feel and features dating-sim elements, yet it was still an excellent game. I put around 80 hours into it and probably would've finished it if I hadn't reached January (in the game) and begun trying to craft perfect personae for unnecessary usage. I'd already even beaten the Reaper without using Armageddon.
Since then I've seen others I'm still interested in: Persona 5 will probably be just as fine as its predecessors, Yo-Kai Watch looks good, Dragon Quest XI will almost undoubtedly be lovely, and Fantasy Life is a game I'd definitely play if I ever started playing games again.
Yeah, sure, the majority are probably garbage, but the same can be said for just about anything really (it's a cliché at this point to say so).

You're probably right. Think my tastes have just changed overall. These days I'm either only interested in 4x / strategy type titles or L1NETT-y first person indiethons. I'd also be lying if I said Japan lagging (more like getting lapped) behind the rest of the world in the visuals department wasn't helping either.
DQXI does look lovely though and i may just have to buy a console for Kingdom Hearts (may allah forgive me)

My last couple years of gaming (basically, 2013 and before) were dominated by Crusader Kings II, a smattering of JRPGs, and proselytizing for indies like The Stanley Parable (when it was just a HL2 mod) and Papers, Please - oh, and something like 600 hours of Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Was in a whisky bar at 4am and was about to leave with a girl when my mate came over and was hammered so it put the girl off, who was mates with all the bar stuff and had a boyfriend so they didn't want her leaving with me anyways.
He was drunk as shit, pissed himself and chucked his coat at me a few times saying why didn't I get the girl.
So I was pissed and wanted the other friend to ditch him and go on the drink, but they are mates from back in Ireland so he wanted to get him home first.
I couldn't be fucked so went home.
Turns out the drunk one did something to a taxi and the police were called and he ended up getting handcuffed to a radiator in a police station.
He is gonna end up getting deported seeing as he is here illegally the last two years.
