One of the better Spiderman games to come out played like Devil May Cry tho...
Still would rock with that PS1 era Spiderman over those other options...

One concern I have is there are still such a vast majority of games that seem to be so poorly optimised for PC and end up running like crap.
The misuse of Neversoft and Raven are Activision's greatest sins
Raven has a case for being the most underrated game dev of all time. They turned trash into gold all the time.

800 raheems on mine whenever the gtx 260 came out. Got a 660 and some more ram for 150 raheems more and it handled everything until about 6 months ago.

From browsing a single page, it looks like she only has one genuine counter. That is not good enough for a MOBA.

Considering you're fine with consoles I'm going to assume the best possible graphics doesn't actually matter to you. You could play stuff on low/medium and get 60FPS or turn up some settings and play them at 30FPS, since again you're fine with consoles so it shouldn't be a problem here.
I know console gamers love them some Low Settings 1080p, struggle 30fps games but the thought of playing anything less than Ultra settings @ 4K/60FPS on PC is unfathomable, but your 570 GTX would be fine.
My $800 PC that I built in 2012 handled stuff fine until I decided I wanted better graphics and 2 free $60 games.

Are you saying a 570 can run monitory of games today at 1080p with a stable 30fps? I dunno that just doesn't sound remotely true. I don't think games like far cry, tomb radar or the division would enjoy a 570
And while certainly not 4k, if/when I did make the switch over everything better be running at ultra with solid fps or I'd just stick a console 😑😑😑
My graphics card isn't the best, but I can play BF4 on Ultra with 100 + fps, Division also runs like a dream even though it's unoptimised as shit.
Witcher 3 ran with all the bells and whistles on.
Sure, if you want 4K, you'll pay out the ass and upgrade every year, but if you stick to 1080p, you'll last 5 years.

As in, PC versions of ps4 games ran at higher fps, with better textures and actual, real, honest-to-god anisotropic filtering at 16x.
1080p is already getting pretty long in the tooth tbh.
Moving up to 1440p was sublime. It's remarkable what the extra resolution does for the image quality.
Funny thing about all this is that if the console makers had decided to do iterative consoles last gen I'd probably not have gone full PC as soon as I did.

jfc this 60 fps as a must for competitive games on consoles really needs to die--almost all of the best competitive shooters in console history ran at 30 fps and were very polished visually--looking at these games that look sub 1080p, have variable frame rates for shit in the backdrop...I'm really over it.

If 1080p at a stable frame rate becomes the norm I think all console owners should be grateful. I certainly don't want specs for higher resolutions because I'm not interested in buying a new TV now or anytime soon. I know that's selfish but I'm way more interested in dynamic AI or better physics than cutting edge visuals.
Bullshots on IGN and trailers running on high end pcs at e3 are going to continue to sell games so who gives a shit.

Higher resolutions for consoles right now are pointless I agree. Most play on their TVs which support 1080p or 4K and neither higher than 60fps.
Since 4K isn't a realisitc option for this GPU, the aim for the Neo should be hitting native 1080p at 60fps in nearly every game with plenty of extra IQ quality things like better distance LODs, better AF and better AA.

60 fps would sell me on upgrading. It really is that big of a difference.

However, I think they're also not too happy with the point the PS4 was introduced.
In terms of sales it's no argument, but the status quo when they planned the console wasn't the best point with the existing hardware (CPU and so on).

Which is funny since they had 10 years to plan their new console and work out their priorities and design and source parts.
Fuck resolution. It's hampering development massively. Imagine were we could be with 640x480. Sparse Voxel Octree Global Illumination, fully destructible enviroment and quicker development cycles. Instead we'll be going to 4K resolution with 2d foliage and baked lighting. But yay no edges.

put 1k on a 5 game parlay and hit and its yours
I'm on that oled tip as well. It's just such a massive improvement that there's little reason outside of price to not go for it over the other options. I mean, from phones, and even the Vita, oled matters.

Doesn't really seem to be worth an extra 1500-2500 dollars just for the panel difference imo. And input lag may vary (if you care about gaming on it). Vizio P with 18 ms vs 50+ for many OLED 4k sets atm.
You can get 75 inch sets with great marks for the price of some OLED's. I don't believe the price is going to drop fast for OLED at all in the next few years either. It's been extremely painful for manufacturers with no signs of slowing down really.
So my question is what content takes advantage of HDR? Does it have to be specifically tailored?
(I'm aware we're getting off the subject)

LG patented the WOLED process which yields better results and cheaper manufacturing. Samsung dropped out of OLED tech because of this. Unless Samsung or Sony come up with a different process (BOLED was the old one Samsung used before dropping out) they'll have to license the tech to sell to the consumer. At one point I had heard Sony was considering doing this. Buying panel tech from LG and using their internals (upscalers etc.) But it doesn't seem like that's the case.
My next TV will be an OLED. The blacks are like my plasma and the viewing angles are amazing all with the color pops of an LED. If prices don't fall, I'll probably have to wait for a bonus two years down the road to get one, but I will own one. lol
Waiting on input lag on oled to improve, and for the 4k sets to come down in price. The 1080p set looks amazing but I am not buying a new TV in 2016/2017 that is not 4k.
Yeah my 1080P set is fine until OLED gets a little better along with the price. I don't want to drop 2K on a 75" 4K TV to only be super jealous of OLED TV's in 2-3 years after that.
I'm going to run my Panny plasma into the ground before I buy a new set. It still looks fantastic for what I use it for.

UHD Blu-Rays will be the highest quality content. Netflix is starting to ramp up HDR support for their streaming service, I expect others will follow suit.
Minus an out of nowhere huge increase in visuals from devs, Pascal will run games at 4K at good frames for a decent range of time.

during AMD's Q1 2016 earnings call on Thursday, executives from AMD estimated a 15 percent revenue increase in Q2 2016, plus or minus 3 points, and they cited three semi-custom system-on-chip (SOC) "wins" as the "larger driver" for that revenue. AMD estimates that these SOCs will bring in $1.5 billion in revenue "over the next three or four years." At least one of those three SOC deliveries will begin "ramping" in the second half of this year, with all of those SOCs launching by 2017.
The reason that news is interesting is because AMD's SOC products have mostly been the core components in small-form-factor games consoles in recent years, and major news leaks have connected one of those upcoming AMD SOCs to the "Neo" refresh of the PlayStation 4, which could launch as soon as October of this year.
AMD's CEO Lisa Su made it clear during the earnings call that these semi-custom wins were related to the gaming sector, describing "semi-custom business and gaming" as the "larger driver" of Q2's revenue growth. "If you think about the semi-custom business in the past few years, the third quarter is always the peak," Su told reporters. "It will be the peak this year, as well, but we're starting some of the ramping in the second quarter as we build to the stronger third quarter."
But who is purchasing those other two gaming-related SOCs? AMD remained coy when asked directly: "I don't believe we've gone through any detail about what those wins are," Su said in the call. "I'd prefer to let that come out as our customers are ready to launch."
