The Division has already been having a rough week, and things just keep getting rougher: A newly found exploit lets players temporarily boost their gun’s damage output to game-breaking levels. This game is such a POS omg
The exploit requires you to have a specific talent on your gun—the “Competent” talent, which briefly boosts DPS after triggering any ability. There’s a high-end AK-74 with the talent for sale at the special gear vendor in the Base of Operations, so everyone with enough phoenix credits can access a gun that’ll work.
Once you have the right gun, you simply have to equip it, then equip a different gun, then switch back again. Do that a bunch of times (like, for five minutes) and a bug will cause Competent’s DPS boost to stack and build up. The next time you trigger an ability you’ll get a ridiculous temporary leap in DPS from, say, 115,000 to 1,115,000.
Good try good effort. I still think Massive did an amazing job considering. The end game has kind of collapsed on itself, but the sequel will be much better for it. They'll be much better off normalizing health and damage for PVP ala Destiny and making loot be more visually unique with interesting perks rather than everything just being all about stat boosting.
I just want a reason to buy an HDR capable 4k tv set
I'd actually be shocked if any of the console at all is even 4k related in terms of marketing. There's no way they can get Uncharted 4 at 30 fps locked at 4k with the rumored hardware and thus far there aren't even reports of of UHD Blu-Ray support.
E3 will be interesting

The audience and patch certification will kill The Division
How did Bungie avoid the constant exploits? Only one that was widely reported was the loot cave afaik

Like I said, the laziness in regards to the skills and loot is the issue with the division. So many things are "INCREASE CRIT DAMAGE" or "pop skill for increased damage", shit like that that they couldn't test out to completely prior to launch.
In Destiny there's only what, two supers in the game that are completely balanced that even allow for increased DPS.

Does Destiny even have random-roll gear? That must add to the fuckery.

Of course Destiny has RNG gear drops. Not only that, but it was RNG drops of encoded items that give you RNG of an item.

to be fair, even current division is far beyond what most would have thought ubi-soft was capable of in 2016

Division is almost more barebones than Titanfall. The best feature about the game is its clusterfuck pvp. Its almost exactly like what people thought it'd be.
By DY_nasty Go To PostIs it really?Don't agree that its barebones at all tbh. Mission structure is rinse and repeat, but you can say that about pretty much all games.

And like plenty of others, I assumed it'd be shit before I played the beta. Far exceeded my expectations overall, best Ubi game since Black Flag imo

Ubi continues to make me feel justified in boycotting their titles. Haven't bought one in a very long time and won't be buying any for the near future.

lets be honest, with the visuals they were showing we were pretty much all certain it would be unity 2.0 and hardly even run on PC
nobody on earth expected a competent campaign, fantastic ports, well run matchmaking, etc.
they fucked up the end game---it's fine, making a compelling end game is really tough to do and they will learn from this
shit they'll probably have things fixed after a few months of patching--there's still hope, this is very early territory still

people that are actually good with her are basically unstoppable
That's kinda what happens when you give a character 3 stackable/rechargeable flashes in a Moba.
Then she has rewind on top of that loooool

By DY_nasty Go To Postyeah i've noticedYou shouldn't even give players that credit. You don't have to be good with her to be unstoppable. She literally can't die. The only time I've seen her killed in my hours of play since she came out was when I dunked on her with Azmodan ONCE. I've seen her die ONCE. I think maybe a Valla can kill her, but they've got to bust their ass to do it.

She's a ranged assassin with better mobility than melee assassins. Like how stupid is that? How does that get past testing? And she was a 'lol that didn't count' button to make her completely unkillable. Warriors can't counter her because they can't catch her.
Yeah they kind of just adapted her moveset from Overwatch 1:1 without any consideration to how that would work in an moba
Like I don't even play the game. I just watched her trailer this morning and knew she'd be ridiculous based on that alone.

I haven't played HotS at all and I've only watched a bit of it, but I watched some Tracer gameplay today, and based on my knowledge of MOBAs, I had a very similar thought. They just put her moveset in, so she can blink and then rewind. You'd basically have to CC chain her until she's dead. Smite has a god that can rewind, but it's his ult, and it's on an 80 second CD at max level. He also can't blink three times in succession.

but tracer is bae so i ain't hatin

Yeah her blink and rewind would be ults on separate characters in any other game lol
Like to put it in perspective, flash is a universal skill in league of legends on a 5 minute cooldown for a SINGLE use.
Tracer can stack three of them and can use them in rapid succession lol. and the cooldown is nowhere near 1 minute let alone 5
By DY_nasty Go To Postnot even sure how you nerf tbhStun her briefly after every rewind
By DY_nasty Go To Postnot even sure how you nerf tbh
Adjust the ranges probably. Of the blinks and how far back she can rewind.
Possibly introduce a secondary cooldown on the blink limiting how fast she can use the stored charges in succession. Or perhaps scrapping the charge system in general and just putting it on a shorter cooldown.
That would be how I'd approach it anyways. Right now it seems like her main problem is that she has incredibly high mobility at incredibly low risk. Fortunately I think these two things are inversely proportional to each other so finding a balance shouldn't be too hard.

The more and more I think about it the more and more PC gaming becomes attractive,. I'd still have base ps4 because of the exclusives (which are being released at a horrible rate this generation imo) but yeah this cycle is just so off putting. I know people say why not just ignore it etc and I tbh I can't articulate why I feel so anti this. Especially now games like horizon are going to be pushed back as a result, just leaves a horrible taste in my mouth
I am going to be presumptuous enough to try and articulate it for you.
The appeal of console gaming, dating back to whenever, was always that it was easier and cheaper. Exclusives helped, but the main draw was that you were going to get great hardware for a great price and you would never ever have to navigate any type of menu ever.
Over time, PC publishers have worked to bridge this gap and make things simpler. Games analyze what hardware you have and provide recommended settings. nVidia maintains a database of recommended settings for various games and allows you to use their settings with the click of a button (through a shitty and intrusive UI but w/e). Steam has brought us a standardized platform so you don't have to install 18 different clients to play all the games you like. Controller support comes standard on virtually every release. Valve created a separate UI for Steam that's easier and more friendly to navigate with a controller. You could boot up a game, bring a friend into a room, hand them a controller, and they'd have no idea they were playing on PC.
Meanwhile, consoles have gotten more and more complex. Now your console OS has to be patched regularly. Most games are patched on day one. Most games have to be installed on hard drives that are woefully insufficient for even a moderately sized library. So now you have to manage hard drive space. Some games force you to sign in to some third party client if you want the full game. Some games disable certain features or are even completely unplayable if you're not online. There are bugs. There are performance issues. And now to top it all off, console manufacturers now want to transition into iterative hardware upgrades.
Fuck that mess. Is PC gaming still more complex than console gaming? Yes. But the gap seems to be continually closing without any real extra benefit to the console gamer.

OS patches were a huge benefit last gen, no?
Not so much this gen on PS4 at least, but usability updates are always appreciated

I'm not saying they're bad. I think the ability to update software is great. But it's another step removed from the simplicity that made console gaming attractive, and also reinforces the idea that you can release something unfinished and just patch it later.
PC gaming is great lads, spent 1000€ once and you can chug along for 6 years, all settings up.
I just buy a new pc every 5-6 years.
I do still buy my PS though, not buying 4k but not selling g thus one either.

Consoles becoming more complex to use can be a minor nuisance at best. We're all more technologically savvy now than we were 15 years ago and we demand more for our money, so it's generally not a big deal.
However, I agree that it seems like publishers are becoming too comfortable with shipping unfinished games because they can finish crap later. I don't like that at all.

It's a shame that some publishers have that mindset, but the positive is that there are devs that will work to ship a playable game and then continue to improve it post launch.
It's why I love Rockstar. Their single player experiences take a while to come out, but it's always worth it. They're the only publisher right now that regularly puts out games that I'll marathon.
