oculus doesn't stand a chance if valve increases their software output
By data Go To PostI'm in for an exciting time either way.I'm looking forward to an easy, mindless game that's gorgeous to stare at. Really enjoyed the first PS3 game.
Anybody hyped about that Ratchet release? Graphics for Uncharted don't do much for me but that game looks gorgeous.

Huh
The thing with vive is you need damn near an entire room dedicated to it.
By Smokey Go To PostHuhWhen you say "entire room" do you mean a room that can clearly only be used for VR, or a living room area where you just move the coffee table?

This isn't meant to be snarky, it's a legit question. I haven't been following the VR stuff very much.
UWA is some how worse than GFWL. Quantum Break PC looking like hot trash fuking hell

From the results we're getting it can be assumed that the game is using the same resolution reconstruction technique as on XBO. Thus when you select 1080p in game's settings what you're really getting is 720p+MSAA4x reconstructed into 1080p by a shader program. If you select 1440p you're getting something akin to 1707x960+MSAA4x reconstructed into 2560x1440 and if you're selecting 4K you're getting 2560x1440+MSAA4x reconstructed into 3840x2160.

nah, you can move stuff around a bit and use it for VR. Problem is that room also needs to be the one with the PC in it and you need to mount 2 sensors to the wall. it's quite the investment but if you really want VR, it's the way to go. it's a much better experience than the oculus with only limited head tracking
i'll wait until it's more advanced and those sensor are way smaller.

Shameful af
Reading up on vive, the space needs aren't as large as I thought, but still more than the rift. Contemplating canceling rift pre-order and going with vive pending more user impressions.
Enter The Gungeon has the best shop keeper since Link's Awakening. Don't even try it with this man...

Image quality: While we are impressed with the filmic appearance, that doesn't mean the image is as sharp and or clean as we'd like. As rendering budgets and visual complexity increases, the need for creative approaches to image quality arises. We've been impressed with techniques such as the temporal re-projection used by Killzone ShadowFall in multiplayer as well as the MSAA 'trick' employed in Rainbow Six Siege. Quantum Break's approach renders the game at 1280x720 with 4x MSAA while using four previous frames to reconstruct the image in such a way that resolution appears higher. It's different from the re-projection seen in Killzone in that the image must be re-constructed every time the camera moves - it also varies from Rainbow Six Siege which used MSAA samples rather than past frames, as we see in Quantum Break. The issue here is that while the effect looks very nice in stills, things break down somewhat in motion. Obvious stair-steps become evident whenever the camera is touched and gameplay appears chunkier as the action heats up. In addition, texture filtering is hit or miss with a number of surfaces appearing rather blurry from the gameplay camera angle. All in all, this is one area we expect to see improve on the PC.
@Riovane, sorry I wasn't on for long, was gonna invite you an hour earlier but you were doing Lincoln
By data Go To PostNothing legit about a game where I can buy an advantageNot got to that stage yet tbf
One of the podcasts I listen to said that its not a big issue since if you buy a lot, you get removed from the rung of the ladder that is shared with people who don't spend money on it
So you're paying to compete with other payers, rather than paying to batter noobs
Not sure if it actually pans out like that though
yea
VR looks promising but it needs iteration in both the hardware and soft spaces
Some of the shit on the market that GB showed was flat out embarrassing. A lot of devs trying to cash in on early adopters being thirsty as fuck for new experiences on their shiny new hardware.
As for UWA--they need to get that ironed out STAT. Complete embarrassment.

By Hitch Go To PostClash Royale is legit btwTruth.
Best games I played this year:
1. Hyper Light Drifter
2. The Witness
3. Clash Royale
Other games I've played but I did not love:
1 . Unravel
2. The Division
3. Firewatch
.
.
.
99. Final Fantasy Platinum Demo
What's everyone else enjoying so far this year? Can't wait for "nothing, this year sucks"
I am enjoying Smite on PS4 and haven't been playing much else.
I didn't care for The Division beta at all and that Final Fantasy XV demo was rough sledding.
Looking forward to UC4. Otherwise this will probably be a good year for my backlog as I try to finish MGSV, Witcher 3, and Bloodborne. I'm sure I can knock out one or two of those before Zelda comes out. I'll probably starting playing SFV more once more content gets added.

so far i enjoyed Steet Fighter and The Witness and that's probably it. Looking at the release list i'm only hyped for Souls 3, Zelda and Pokemon SM. Looks like another mediocre year to me.
edit: forgot Last Guardian if this and Zelda live up to their previous highs it could be a close race for GOTY

Dark Souls 3
Uncharted 4 beta
Stardew Valley and American Truck Simulator are the best games of 2016.
I still haven't played that FFXV demo
I still haven't played that FFXV demo
Even with my issues with it Hyper Light Drifter. Enter The Gungeon is currently exceeding my expectations by a lot. I need these devs to win.
SuperHot is probably the only full game released this year that I played. It's good, Story mode is extremely short but if you enjoy the gameplay, the challenge mode gives enough reasons to play the levels again and forces you to take on things differently.
Great fucking month. Hyper light drifter, enter the gungeon and dark souls 3. Uncharted and stellaris in May.
Forgot about scratch it and wank.

Oh I played Superhot too. That game was alright.
I just played the FFXV demo. That seems like the worst possible slice of content for a demo. I played that and went, 'Jesus, this is what the combat's like?' and got deflated up until you turn into Grown-Up Noctis and the combat doesn't feel as slow.

I wasted money in January on ROTR and Dragons Dogma so I probably won't buy another single player game until Mass Effect Andromeda
Verge's Vive review:
Increasingly, this is just how games on Steam evolve, inside and outside VR. It’s become more and more common for developers to launch unfinished projects through its Early Access program, and the best way to think of the Vive for consumers might be that it’s an Early Access season pass for VR. That pass will give you some great experiences, like the frenetic cooperative shooter Raw Data and survival horror game The Brookhaven Experiment. But it’s just enough of a taste to make you hungry for full versions that often have no hard launch date, although a number of them are slated for some point in 2016.
The longer it takes for developers to polish these experiences, the smaller the Vive’s advantage over the Oculus Rift becomes. Rift owners can already buy games through Steam, and if Oculus keeps its promise to release Touch controllers later this year, it makes sense for developers to include support for both systems, since HTC and Valve have rejected exclusivity deals. A single Rift camera already tracks several feet of floor space, and Touch’s two-camera setup could support most of the Vive games I’ve tried. We don’t know how much Touch controllers will cost, but it’s unlikely that they’ll bring the Rift’s total price above the Vive’s $800. For most people, the biggest differences between the Rift and the Vive may ultimately just be aesthetics, ergonomics, and personal philosophy.
GOOD STUFFhttp://www.theverge.com/2016/4/5/11358618/htc-vive-vr-reviewBAD STUFF
- Lots of innovative motion control-based games and experiences
- Emphasizes motion control and body movement
- Rich, customizable user interface
- Solid construction
- Heavy and ungainly
- User experience can be glitchy and confusing
- Many games still feel unfinished
- Highest total cost for a VR headset
Enemy spoiler for gungeon...
I fucking hate mimics…in every game they're in. Touched one chest and the damn thing grew teeth, two guns and damn near killed me. Now, I'm going to waste time shooting every chest, until I learn what the tells are. :(

Enter the Gungeon is definitely worth it then? After Assault Android Cactus (amazing game) I wouldn't mind hopping back into the genre.

So probably ideal circumstances.
The stream quality compression is more noticeable than any sort of input lag.

Watching my drunk stream from last night when I went on a 10 game win streak and apparently sang very horribly to 80s songs.
Would explain the uptick in viewers. Being an assclown really is the key to this stuff.

I'm mainly looking forward to the version where he fights Yahweh, Jesus and Mohammed that will be released when Sasha Obama is president.

I'd be using it in the same conditions. Gonna have to test it out with Street Fighter this weekend.
Job Simulator seems like the perfect thing to show off VR with.
but the requirements of Vive are still far too much to interest me.
