Destiny Update, Hyper Light Drifter, Ratchet and Clank and Dark Souls 3.
I wish I had more time to play it all :(

Cold Steel 2 and Persona 5 plz don't let me down

Maybe Unreal Engine 4 will help out with a lot of the tech issue bullshit that plagues FFXV
By Lambda Go To PostFF7R is the send off for the series
FF7R is going to be disappointing to alot of people. They either go through with their episodic idea and piss people off or make it as linear as FF13 and piss people off.
It's always been one of those things where I thought people didn't really understand the scope of what they're asking for
but Square listened...

Just beat Parasite Eve 1. That final boss wasn't shit thank god for auto-potion

I just really want to see more of Ni No Kuni 2 and South Park. Those are my big two.
I want to be hyped about Mafia 3, but it feels like they haven't shown near enough of it for something that will probably be out relatively soon.

yeh, the 3+ part cash-grab send off after they spend all this money on shitty FF15 animes, cars and mobile games.
What a shithouse company.
Hyper Light Drifter is awesome! Super loving it.
If you like Zelda, Dark Souls or Diablo buy this game! The combat is really satisfying and responsive, the world is beautiful to look at and the game doesn't hold your hand. By Jay Whatever Go To PostI think everyone knows that most game reviewers are just bad at games. I wouldn't worry about it.The issue is that they are ultimately docking points off the game because of the difficulty, which in turn means potentially less sales because of a stupid lower Metacritic average.
Anyway, the game is great, just beat two bosses (East and North). Gonna take a break for now.
I mean...I finished it and there were plenty of times I got hit by bullshit that wasn't shown, thanks to the artwork. lol. Since the audio tells aren't positional, they don't really help with the unseen shit.
If you fuck up, the checkpoint can force you into a situation where you're dealing with a horrible set of circumstances. Your only options then would be to try and brute force it or warp out to go find health (since you can't just purchase it), which cause you to lose even more time. Get good could be a response, but DS doesn't even force you into those situations.
I haven't tried it after the patch, but certain bosses can basically chain hit you to death, thanks to how slow you recover.
I'm normally in the camp that side-eyes reviewers, but here...I dunno. The game is difficult, but it's got some questionable shit in it.
Animation canceling (sword->gun->sword)is great, by the way. It's not anywhere near Zero in Mega Man X 4 (with his dash), but extra damage is always nice.

Git gud.
People screaming left and right about the North boss and I beat it on my fourth try (it was super satisfying mind you).
I have not run into any circumstances I felt were "bullshit", aside from maybe one instance where I had zero health packs and only one spec of life left right before an arena on the East side. Even then, I just took it as an extra challenge though and beat it without getting hit. Again, felt immensely satisfying.
I think people just forget how hard games used to be. This is extremely forgiving considering you get a checkpoint in every single room. Die? No big deal, you lost about 30 seconds of progress.
People are just babies. These reviewers need to go play Disney's Magical Quest if they wanna talk about hard bullshit.

By jjasper Go To PostYeah that FFXV is fucking awful and I kinda liked the one that came out with type 0. I'll still get it cause I am stuck in a terrible nostalgic loop when it comes to the series but I am not expecting much.
Which one is it? I don't remember any of them being particularly difficult
Gir-tab
I just searched and a youtube video showed a quick, cheese way to do it. I had been doing it the 'normal way I suppose. Just crouching near the entrance and shooting under its belly with a gun that will hit the belly.
Going to try the "quick kill" strategy.

The fact that no reviewers complained about the difficulty in Shadow of Mordor, even though it legitimately harms the game, confirmed that they must be shite at games.
It's not normally a problem, but it is when a game's system is rendered pointless by the lack of difficulty.

There's a lot of games I'd LOVE if I didn't have to pay full price for in this generation. Games feeling either incomplete or lacking what should be standard features by now.
I'm still pissed over Battlefront.

15=20 hour length with plenty of extra side stuff to do if you so wish is a real nice sweet spot in RPG game length for me.
That's almost a deal breaker for me tbh
I play RPGs mainly because they're time sinks. Its not like you play star ocean games for the story.

15-20hrs for a jRPG feels like a waste of $60. 30hrs for something like SO feels like the sweet spot.

Itd be different for a SRPG with a lot of new game+ options. SO is hardly your Tales game where they keep loading you with more with each playthrough.
By Dipro Go To Postthere's like 5 games in the entire history of videogames that justify being longer than 15h.I legit feel that 1 dollar = 1 hour of enjoyable playtime.
Keyword is enjoyable though. No one makes a lifeless collectathon quite like Ubi. They pioneered filling a product up with fluff then churning out the next half-complete money grab.

Renting that game and paying full price for it are entirely different experiences.
I don't think -most- games do what you're saying. At least not intentionally (fuck ubisoft and EA to an extent). I do believe that developers are getting worse at recognizing what quality content is and people are more willing to put up with that.
By DY_nasty Go To PostJust an example, you'd pay 60 for The Order?if it was great, sure why not but it's trash so i wouldn't pay $1 for it.

I don't know. Some of the most praised games in the genre sit pretty comfortably in that completion range.
Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Super Mario RPG
and even the first two Star Oceans lol
Square Enix is not Capcom. They are not going out of business anytime soon with how many other means of revenue they make like Bandai Namco, SEGA, and GungHo in terms of licensing, animation, literature, music, mobile, etc.
They can afford throwing out money on marketing and merchandise.
On the other hand Capcom is barely struggling to afford their employee dinner from famima

But SE is basically killing FF as it used to be. FF14 being saved might just mean that they go mmo after this and FF7R.

They already killed how FF used to be with the transition from 6 to 7. Whether or not "killing" it this time is successful that remains to be seen.
They still have Dragon Quest. Final Fantasy is not some greatest of all time franchise. They're meeting their focus groups and shifting where they think the audience will be now in terms of profitability and accessibility.
They know they remain profitable and they won't care. Until they get a kick to the face and XV, or even worse Dragon Quest, sells like garbage they'll be fine.
