After I get a new laptop I'll give BDO a shot
MMOs on laptops can be difficult due to the prolonged play. The extended exposure to high heat play. I did do it for years with WoW though.
If I had to list the game's negatives it would be the UI, the lack of character customization, and the many systems going on making it so that you really have to invest in learning the game and how to do things. It can be grindy and investment heavy. The grinding of mobs is fun for me since I like the combat.
Made a vid of combat without the UI: https://youtu.be/tL6RSaXpJCk
Overall, the game could use a streamlining pass on its UI and systems, but not sure if a lesser known Korean developer would do that for Western audiences. As well, since it is a Korean translation, the voice acting is often bad, and the story is confusing. (Not to mention your weird friendly/unfriendly spirit. It starts out like Navi from Zelda, but grows into like a darklord Slimer from Ghostbusters crossed with Midna from Twilight Princess.)
yeah nice write up on BDO, I watched a couple of streams of it but they didn't really do the art justice, the screens coming out of this game are gorgeous. The combat looks really good too, I want to give the game a go but there's no way I trust myself to play mmos casually lol.
UK residents, there's free Dark Souls for PC

I'm loving it, yet to team up with anyone though
Based on 5 hours of the full game, it suffers from many of the same flaws as Destiny, but there are a few things that make it a much better game for me
1- Base of Operations gives you a hub to progress, aside from just your character. This provides a reason to do the smaller missions and encounters.
2- Those smaller missions actually give you loot that is worth equipping and BoO currency, doing the similar missions in Destiny felt more like material and xp farming since I got fuck all decent loot from them
3- It doesn't force you to go back to the hub all the time, along with horrendous load times
4- The story isn't great or intricate so far, but it's not actively dogshit either
5- I personally prefer the setting. Destiny had all the art design chops it needed, but they fluffed their lines in every other respect of world building.
Enjoying the combat as well, that's obviously hugely subjective though since many others don't like it.

By PSYCH! Go To Postok i wontyou really shouldn't.
i'm not some sort of destiny apologist, that game had it's fair share of flaws but underneath everything it was something fun.
this is just the blandest shit possible packed in a more streamlined game.
while NYC might be bigger than a destiny planet (i don't know) it looks the same everywhere, started to get boring 2h in.
Fighting bosses that look exactly like every other human is also stupid, doesn't help that the gunplay is mediocre as fuck, there's no real feedback if you shot something. And for a loot game, the loot is bad, like real bad. Getting a real world gun that looks and sounds exactly like the one you had before but has 100 more dps just isn't exciting and you can't even see the new gear on you..
the story is just as uninteresting and shit-tier as destiny.
By DY_nasty Go To PostI'd really suggest waiting if you're hesitant man. Its one of those types of games. Is it? It's an online focused shooter. Seems like the kind of game that has the chance that either A)no one's playing it in a few months or B) everyone's playing it and everyone's further progressed than you and it'll be a huge pain in the ass to catch up

Seems like the kind of game that has the chance that either A)no one's playing it in a few months or B) everyone's playing it and everyone's further progressed than you and it'll be a huge pain in the ass to catch upI don't really lump all online focused shooters together like that. And in none of them should you ever be disadvantaged by hopping in late. I think that only applies to fighting games or something where true skill shines out. If Division DOES have that hurdle with people hopping in late, its only hurting itself. That's terrible for a bunch of reasons.
I say wait because with everything shown so far (and recent trends) Division is going to need to show a lot more diversity through mid and late game. That wouldn't be a big deal normally, but its something I'd be really skeptical about.
Also, I don't particularly like comparing it against Destiny, but one thing Destiny always had was great gunplay. Division doesn't have that to fall back on.
Division's gunplay feels good to me. Couple that with the fact that you can't even play Destiny with a mouse, I don't know how it could be qualified as 'bad' gunplay or mediocre where as Destiny's could be coupled as 'good'.
I think people need to stop looking at these games to have some kind of World of Warcraft-esque endgame because that's never going to happen. They are always going to be more Diablo-esque than MMORPG esque but they'll use the MMO comparison because it makes the games seem more grandiose. Not to mention the fact that the diversity of classes, abilities, and the trinity make raid bosses function a lot better than 'guy who shoots' and 'other guy who shoots'

I disagree quite a bit. You can't have a loot game with boring loot and you can't have ...I don't even know if Division even can put together raid bosses worth talking about. That's why I feel like its worth being hesitant over.
Gameplay though? People can feel how they want about Destiny's overall success, but it was never at any point thought of as a mediocre shooter when it came to gunplay. A mouse isn't going to change the fact that feedback was an afterthought in Divisions design. Its bad. And the enemy diversity? Every other game that you can think of in the same category has WAY more to offer. The big hesitance I have is that there will be more to one race in Destiny than what Division offers.
There's nothing wrong with waiting to be proven wrong. Especially knowing that Ubisoft prides itself on big releases that prove to be gag reels merely weeks later.

Ubi has been solid on R6. Syndicate was good. They've got things mapped out for Division. Ubi will never catch DYs soul apparently.

Ubi will never catch DYs soul apparently.R6 was nice after a scrapped R6 and its still missing hella features. As good as it is, its barely a Rainbow Six game but people already had that discussion.
Syndicate got zero push - I don't even know if ubi recognizes when it has a good product.
darkzone is too lit right now, brehs rolling deep in there
dudes were literally firing flares to get guys to come and check it out, I was one, got domed by three guys in a fireteam instantly, went straight back to campaign lol

ubi still learning about balance too--did a hard mode run for a bit of extra coin...great matchmaking system, but fuck me the enemies were only two levels higher and it was like I was shooting fucking blanks. Comical. Three guys shooting a dude with a hoodie running at us and he's the incredible hulk
By shun Go To PostAlso dy if you want something to play on your Wii U go pick up #FE in the summer. Is it a better Wii U RPG experience than Xenoblade? Because man, I play MMOs pretty heavily and am not opposed to girnding in the likes of Strange Journey or Dragon Quest and Xenoblade has to be the most boring bar filler simulator I've ever played. And I've played a lot of MMOS and ubisoft shit.
Game is a hella good RPG, one of the best I played in a while and overall I found it better than Fire Emblem Fates.
I can't speak for PC, but the core gameplay of The Division came off as really stale to me in the PS4 beta. It feels like another generic cover shooter to me. My friends were saying it's the best cover shooter since Gears of War, but I don't see it. The only thing that really impressed me during the beta was the level design. Two minutes into the mission with all the flame thrower dudes I was about ready to fall asleep when I noticed that the levels seemed to be designed around making tactical flanking movements and such. So while my three friends charged headlong into battle as is their MO, I stayed upstairs and went around the left flank where all the enemies were exposed and mopped a bunch of dudes up and kept my friends from dying. I think that aspect of the game is done really well, but I don't know if it's enough to make up for the rest of the shortcomings I think the game has.
Even if you were to compare The Division to Diablo, I don't think it really measures up. Diablo has multiple characters with multiple different skill trees that have both active and passive abilities, the Paragon system, better gear, a UI that's easier to navigate, and more varied enemy types. The only place that The Division could really conceivably make up the difference is in the actual gunplay, which I think is just average.
Destiny doesn't have the character customization you find in an MMO or in Diablo, but it does have more unique gear, and the gunplay and movement are both excellent. The game has a myriad of issues, but since the core of the game is so fun I can tolerate them. Also, Bungie made, in my opinion, the most fun PvP gun in any shooting game ever. Sometimes I'll turn the game on just to use this beautiful bastard.
Edit: This image was too big when I posted it and now it's tiny. Weird.

In the April 2016 issue of Game Informer magazine, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata expressed that he hopes that the ending of the game will make players cry. He says fans who devote so much time playing the game deserve to get an emotional ending.
I don't see how anyone can cry because of a video game. Most games never give you an emotional attachment to characters or story, and for the few that do like Mass Effect 3, they just throw it away because you should care about some white kid instead.

Xenosaga came close. So many times actually that I just tally all the point up and give it credit.
I need to think on this one though. I'm a pansy these days.
there's no way ffxv's story is going to be any good
its gonna be all "my destiny is to unlock the dream of my fate, now I can be the heroic hero of the generation of the crystals to discover my true faith"

Tears of joy though, anytime Marcus Fenix opens his mouth. God among men.
does japan even know how to write sad stories other than that You're The Inspiration level of Elite Beat Agents?
I'm going to guess it ends with someone dying and the main character crying and going 'Damn youuuuu!' to the main bad guy.

By Xeno Go To PostMy memory's fuzzy but I think the ending of MGS3 got me.
Probably one of the top 3 endings of all time.
MGS3 is the for-sure winner. The ending wasn't sad, but I was sad that I finally had to beat Xenogears.

Yes the battle system is turn based but it is a lot better than SMT4 and other Atlus games use of the battle system. It is a phenomenal RPG through gameplay and character building alone.

By shun Go To PostZero Escape 3 Time Dilemma looks so good. Gonna have to go through 999 and VLR again.Yup.
Looking forward to it and Danganronpa 3.
If I get my VITA back in time...
GF is still holding the vita as hostage to play Digimon and most likely Persona 3 afterwards.
By ReRixo Go To PostDoom multiplayer trailerI played the Alpha and it was fun, but this isn't a game I woud play on console unless you only care for the SP.
it looks like it'll be fun for a week
MP is just way too fast for controllers.
Time Dilemma is going to get so dark... I'm gonna feel like shit when I play it.
Then you should look into playing #FE on Wii U. The gameplay is better and more streamlined then Persona.
It is not as dark plot wise, but it is just as strong character development wise and I enjoyed the cast overall.
Different kinds of games that do different things well. #FE was probably my favorite game last year and I found it more enjoyable than Fates.

I still don't know if I want Pokken. It's so weird and dumb looking but in a way that appeals to me. But also in the kind of way that the novelty could get old fast.
It's better than Dissidia for arcade that's for sure. Dissidia is slow and straight up borderline kusoge.
Pokken actually has tech and cancels in it's combat system. It can lose novelty but there is at least some fun and skill compared to Dissidia. Dissidia is just float, fly slowly and charge up a move hoping you hit like 2 players in the chaos of it all. Dissidia left such a dirty taste in my mouth when games like Gundam EXVS and Gunslinger Stratos exist and do it so much better.
Even Fuudo doesn't find Dissidia that enjoyable.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons and To The Moon made me sad. Baron quest in Witcher 3 is also something that caught me by surprise.
Between Syndicate, Division, and Far Cry Primal, Ubisoft is getting better and better at making absolutely gorgeous environments that I want to explore.
Yet their characters and story still remain in the lowest of the low. Only exceeding bad anime game stories and characters.
