Well, I liked the inventory system, I really enjoyed fitting things inside the suitcase and organizing it. but maaaaaaan so much of the game was so bland. Garbage QTEs? RE4 has em. Garbage on rail sections? RE4 has em. lame, lifeless, easy enemies and bosses? RE4 has em. Ashley didn't even get in the way yet I still found her annoying.
Also, the art direction sucks the life out of you, so much brown and grey. I get going for that type of aesthetic but I feel it could have been done so much better, everything was sterile, everything was midtones. Very similar to how I felt about Bayonetta 1's art.
game should have been 6-8 hours.

I liked the art.. but the game was only ok to me.. but I really don't like the whole RE universe
as a matter of fact, the inventory system is the best thing about RE4 and it's the only thing it does very well.

The Outbreak titles were also interesting, but since we never got to play them as MP, it's hard to rate them properly.

By Pennywise Go To Post1 > 2 > 4 > 3 > CV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>0>>>>>>5>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>6I mean... its hard to really compare RE4,5, and 6 against the previous titles because they're such a dramatic departure imo. Its like comparing Call of Duty games pre and post Modern Warfare 2

I'm no fan of the crazy over the top shit.
Was already pretty pissed when they started to use Wesker, as Agent Smith from Matrix in RE CV.
5 and especially 6 topped that, on top of the fragmented gameplay that stole pretty bad from movies/games.
RE 5 was still a decent attempt on some occassions, allthough I don't like that shoehorned Coop, the over the top shit and how badly they used the setting... but fuck me, they really went far with RE6. Like they're throwing turds at the wall and take whatever sticks.
Zero was also pretty bad on nearly everything, but at least the setting was pretty good. Plus I love prerendered backrounds, it just works so damn well with RE.
I'm like super LTTP but The Witcher 3 has made me realize that sex in video games is at least two gens off from not feeling weird and creepy.
Sex in video games will always be weird and creepy unless that is something you want in it. Same with other forms of entertainment.
American Truck Simulator isn't work and it doesn't feel that way
My Summer Car IS work and its harder than my job

Aside from me ranking REmake as equal to RE4, my order of the rest of the games switches constantly. The only other constant would be 6 and Revelations 1 being at the bottom of the list, and 5 right before them.
A new bind of Isaac expansion dropped. Goodbye time.

For the life of me I don't get why some people don't like Revelations. They're the same thing as 4 but with better controls.

Nah, sex in film can be done in a classy way that lacks immaturity and isn't Pervy. The dialog and character development aren't nearly deep enough in the witcher 3 to pull this off though. The uncanny valley aspect video game graphics cause only compounds this. There's been some ok dude bro humor regarding sexuality that's been funny, but any nudity and sex is just awkward as fuck. Geralt specifically plays a womanizing character with plenty of side game too.
It's been a really fun game that I've put a lot of hours into but after playing I'm pretty shocked it was GOTY status for so many at the time. IMO the questing is good, but the side quests almost detract from the main story too much. Too many of them are only tangitally related to the main story. I enjoyed the expansion packs because of this.
It's an odd complaint I guess. Many games fall victim to the same problem in the open world genre. It's also super buggy
Games could totally just fade to black (or just really dark scene) and play audio-erotica with mass effect dialogue choices. Doesn't require a future gen of tech and would give much of the same effect.
Yeah that would have been better IMO. Soft core video game porn in my open world action adventure games just isn't necessary
Right i agree. That why I said the games lack the character development. But man, uncanny boob is also a distraction hahahah
By Kibner Go To PostMy point is that it isn't technology holding back quality sex scenes; it's the game makers.

The fucking assholes in the sports cars will try to crash into you and kill you. Not even joking. And if you swerve off-road tryign to avoid them, you'll likely have to go BACK home and get your other car and drive ALL THE WAY BACK and tow your car out of the ditch

ND are the only studio I'd trust to animate it properly, rather than having it look like an 8 year old forcing a disrobed Barbie and an Action Man together.

I'm of the opinion that sex in most mediums is best left implicit.
I feel explicit sex scenes are always awkward and uncomfortable, because more often than not they are there exclusively to titillate or arouse the audience. There's no real narrative benefit in most cases to depicting the act in detail over implying it through other means.
Nothing even that cheesy.
I think a good example I've experienced recently was in Xenogears. We see Ramsus and Miang sleeping together in the same bed when a scene occurs. The scene isn't about sex but it implies and acknowledges that that's a dynamic to their relationship, giving even more depth to the extent of Miang's manipulation of Ramsus, all without calling direct attention to the act itself.

Persona 4 handled it really well I thought
And as for Witcher 3, Yen and Triss were whatever but the Shani scene was pretty good and shed more light on the dynamic of their relationship

By blackace Go To PostftfyI don't remember many games I played with sex scenes, so BioWare stand out in my mind as turreble.
Basically this with sex.
Sex scenes are the only thing where Ride To Restribution doesn't stand out as being any worse than other games ¬¬
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostPersona 4 handled it really well I thought
Persona I don't think has them personally
but I think people do pretty commonly interpret the conclusion of social links as being sexual, but I don't really like that approach either. Even though it's implicit, it still treats sex as a prize/reward.

You forgot the blonde witch who sold herbs in the beginning.
By Hitch Go To PostIts bothDon't need detailed visuals for a sexy scene. Just like in many movies, you can darken it. Or you can imply it happened, like Retro pointed out with Xenogears. Hell, you can even just have it be a purely audio thing.
ND are the only studio I'd trust to animate it properly, rather than having it look like an 8 year old forcing a disrobed Barbie and an Action Man together.
There are many ways to approach it, but unless including explicit, active sex is a key design goal, that shit will always feel creepy and awkward due to lack of focus and attention. No matter what level of tech we use.

The New World Order had one of the few sex scenes that I felt to be "honest", in a video game. Most of the times, they might as well come with achievement unlocks, because they feel like rewards more than anything organic to the story.
For me, it's the level design and set pieces. I'm kind of over Half Life 2 arena levels, if they don't even try to switch up the scenario. It's nitpicking to an extreme degree (and not really rational), but super soldier Chris hurt his leg and has to kill a thousand wolves (from one spot) feels lazier than, protect yourself in a small cabin. It doesn't feel like I'm actually doing anything but waiting on a timer (that's in your face).
Rev 2 (as budget as it is), is amazing to me though. Hoping for a sequel some day.

anything yall recommend prioritizing in terms of leveling
i know quen and critical back damage (being able to block or take less damage from behind or something) was a must have in the witcher 2 along with rolling
