What is the best option for me if I want to hook something up to my television that can emulate old games? Ideally through a SD card or USB stick so I don't have to bother with switching stuff out.

so many fucking expansions man! Which ones would you say are worth playing? I was THIS close to buying them the other night
Late to this but, Trespasser is essential since it's the actual ending of the game. The other DLCs are fun but not Hearts of Stone tier so ymmv.

By DY_nasty Go To PostYou know I beat Star Ocean 4 right?why would you even say that?
Twice.
I beat Xenosaga Ep 1 a couple weeks ago. It was ok. Ended up having to use a guide for most of it since so much of the game is optional and missable
Started Nayuta no Kiseki this weekend. Played about 7 hours in and loving it. Glad to be back in a Falcom game after Xenosaga lol. It's basically the Brave Fencer Musashi sequel I never got.
Gonna try to clear it before Steins;Gate 0 next week, and to just make way for end of the semester prep in general.

No Man's Sky update looks interesting but I can't get over how ugly it is compared to the pre-release footage.
I got a Steam refund on it at launch because of how awkward it felt and looked on pc despite the other shortcomings not really bothering me. I just wanted a cartoony/more casual version of Elite Dangerous that could provide some space tourism but I could tell it wasn't going to deliver that just by the starting planet I was on.

Despite bad reviews I also bought ME: Catalyst on sale. Might as well try it.
Still kind of want to buy Steep too. I never finish anything when I'm bouncing between 4 different MP games.

By Smokey Go To PostHuge NMS update. Too late, but it is a huge improvement. Inventory management was the worst.almost looks like a game
I might actually buy it now that I can play without the survival aspects. I just want to hop around planets and tour.
What purpose does base building serve in a game where you are constantly leaving planets behind, never to see them again?
By Ciaran Go To PostWhat purpose does base building serve in a game where you are constantly leaving planets behind, never to see them again? To give you a reason to see the same planets again?
From what I understand, the game doesn't change as you get closer to the center of the universe so the "progress" you make is pretty arbitrary. Base building on an interesting planet you found gives you a reason to familiarize yourself with an area instead of pointing towards the center until you get bored.
Regarding No Man's Sky: I was asking questions and wondering where the hype was coming leading up to launch. But the game could have some redeeming qualities once they finish development. Looking like a decent $10 pickup by the spring. So I appreciate that and don't mind waiting. Might even be a PS+ game. They'll probably add Pro support too at some point.
By Vlatko Go To PostTo give you a reason to see the same planets again? So basically the update goes against everything they sold the game on twelve months ago and leads nowhere (mind I don't know what's at the center of the universe or the endgame).

You could legit tell withing 5 seconds of seeing the final game that its a completely different game from the con-job they were showing at conferences
Its pretty incredible how Sony had a full on marketing blitz for years for what turned out to be the quality of a new steam early access survival game.
I imagine Minecraft would have gotten a similar reception if it was shown at Microsoft press conferences and was a full price title at its first release instead of growing by word of mouth and its own community.

Yeah, the fact that Hello Games was able to con Sony into its marketing hype is bananas. And as far as we know, Sony didn't really know what it signed up for. Most of these outlandish claims would've remained outlandish had Sony not come onboard and back the project in full faith.
Honestly, I'm far more impressed than mad.

they announced the game and said it was a 4 person studio and everyone started acting like they were getting Star Citizen x Minecraft made by 4 people.
i don't even think hello games or sony deserve blame, people are just unbelievably fucking stupid and will believe anything

It at least looked nice when they were showing it off. Didn't even have that when it actually came out.
Really wanna know what happened there. Presumably they were showing it off on beastly PCs with hand-designed planets, but it really looks like a different engine. The planets they were showing off looked natural, whereas in the final game the components of each planet look poorly bolted on to eachother.

More than half of this shit is apparently nowhere to be found in the game.
So yeah...bait and switch.
They're honestly lucky the laws don't hold them responsible for misleading consumers but the refunds likely cover them there.
Watch Hello Games founder, Sean Murray present brand new gamplay at the PlayStation E3 2015 Press Conference.
An epic science fiction adventure set across an infinite universe. Explore never before visited worlds, discover unique lifeforms and trade, fight and survive on a galactic scale.
Inspired by classic science-fiction and its overwhelming sense of adventure and imagination, Hello Games presents a game of unprecedented scale and ambition. In No Man’s Sky you explore an infinite universe where you will discover unique never-before-seen planets and lifeforms.
A mystery lies at the center of the galaxy, an irresistible pulse that draws you on an epic voyage to discover the true nature of the cosmos. Your journey will be charged with danger, encountering hostile creatures and fierce pirates; in order to survive, you will need to prepare, upgrading your ship, suit and weapons.
Whether you choose to fight, trade or explore, every decision you make has consequences, shaping your journey as you travel ever deeper into No Man's Sky.
No Man’s Sky is an epic science fiction adventure set across an infinite universe, in which every star is the light of a distant sun, orbited by planets filled with life – each yours to visit. Explore never before seen worlds, discover unique lifeforms and trade, fight and survive on a galactic scale.
• Explore a universe of possibilities – With over 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 (18 quintillion) possible planets, No Man’s Sky's procedurally generated galaxy gives players an unparalleled opportunity to explore worlds that no one has ever visited before. Exploration is entirely seamless, with no loading screens, whether you're flying from space to a planet's surface or even warping between solar systems.
• Forge your own path to the center of the galaxy – Whether you consider yourself a trader, an explorer or a fighter, there’s no limit to how you play No Man’s Sky. You may slip between play-styles freely, from pirate to miner, bounty hunter to surveyor, but know that any action can have lasting consequences.
• Share your discoveries – Everyone starts No Man’s Sky on the outer rim of the same unexplored galaxy. As you progress, you will come across countless undiscovered solar systems, planets, lifeforms and much more. You can choose to share your discoveries with other players, naming them and adding them to the Galactic Map, forever associated with your PSN ID. You may also share the amazing sights you encounter using the PlayStation 4 system’s share functions.
• Space combat on a grand scale – Make enemies and forge alliances by joining battles between the factions that occupy the galaxy. Take part in daring raids on trade convoys and audacious attacks on capital ships, claim bounties, and upgrade your weaponry. But be warned: helping one faction may make its enemies yours, too.
• Trade your way through the galaxy – Violence is not the only route to success. Discovering rare resources and trading them where they are most valuable will help you amass a fortune you can exchange for upgrades and ships that can carry ever more cargo. The rewards will be great, but you'll run the risk of attracting the attention of ruthless space pirates.
• Prepare yourself for exploration – By upgrading your engines, you can travel further and faster, pushing at the frontiers of the known galaxy. Upgrading your suit will help protect you from radiation and extreme environments that would kill the unprepared.
• Discover a social galaxy – The galaxy is a living, breathing place, with trade convoys travelling between stars, pirates, police and military ships ever ready for action, and planets teeming with life. The same galaxy is also shared by every player of No Man's Sky. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions, as well as your own?

By Rob Go To Posti watched a couple of the initial videos to see why everyone was hyping up this game that looked mediocre. this game never looked interesting or ever had any promiseSean's nonanswers made people who were doubtful reconsider their doubts. They didn't want to accept that it was a small team because the things Sean said seemed out of this world. People have been trained at this point to say 'big evil AAA companies lie to us! But this small indie dev team couldn't lie to us! They're not big evil companies!' padded by so many journalists hyping and giving this thing best of show because they got worked by Murray.
