I downloaded the first ep because it was free.

The cringe was set to max cringe. I looked for the cringe slider but there wasn't one. Tossed that in the "not for me" pile.

Life is Strange only gets really good in Episode 2 and onwards. Yeah, Episode 1 was quite bland and 'by the book', but I guess it was necessary to introduce all the characters.

Stick with it, it's worth it.


I managed to get FFXV btw, so I'll post my totally noob impressions late at night or tomorrow morning.

That can be done with good characters. I didn't like any of them from episode 1 either. But whatever, at 5 euros I might as well check it out properly.

Finished GoW: Ghost of Sparta last night. Easily the worst game in the series littered with uninspired enemies that are cheap and a huge pain to deal with in the numbers they constantly throw at you. Unlike the other four games in the series that I've finished this one has so many situations where you're left defenseless in animations where you can do nothing but wait while the cpu can land strikes. It's baffling for a game that's based around tight combat mechanics and has a solid history of achieving that in previous titles.

Biggest complaint is how poor the camera is during most of the combat. It zooms in and you'll be attacked by enemies off the screen that you can't see. The camera placement is typically one of the strongest points for the series, so it's very frustrating to have to deal with over and over again from unavoidable deaths.

The story of Kratos's brother is decent enough but it's a weak overall package.

I'll probably finish up this GoW backlog run I'm on with Ascension. Just checked and the game has one online trophy which is to complete the online tutorial. The game has an online pass system and these bastards still want $9.99 for the unlock key. Meanwhile, the game itself is $9.99 digitally on PSN. :/

How were online passes a thing? Madness.

That's always my modus operandi, but temptation still gets to me from time to time. But tbh none of the sales are of the crazy good variety anyway. This summer all sorts of stuff was going for like $5 - I got Persona 3 Portable, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Metro: Last Light, etc. Right now it's just like, "should I get Arkham Knight for $15?" (I got bored of Arkham City 60% of the way through, no I shouldn't).

Loving pokemon Sun so far. Played around 8 hours; it's just a very charming, very well polished game.

I dug out Dragon Age: Inquisition again. The game still feels kinda slow paced, but I think I'm in the mood for something like this. I've been working so much lately my brain is fried so I don't mind the "hold R2 and wait a while to win" gameplay so much. It's kinda growing on me. I'm still pretty early, ~ level 8, but it feels like everywhere I go now I just hit something that kicks my ass - either a boss or a rift.

Game of the year edition is what I ended up with when I bought the game again. The deep roads expansion was pretty.... not great. It was cute, but really tedious for no reason. The other expansions were WAY better. One is a whole, real area that's great and the other is the actual conclusion to the game - also great.

The best thing about DA:I now is the patch that allows you to modify a good deal of the encounters and progression you'll see during the game. From random bosses, enemies leveling with you, increased rewards for higher difficulty type stuff. The game needed that variation BAD. Too many times you'll be in an area that simply cannot threaten you. That patch meant every single dragon was the boss battle it should've been. It also meant that you wouldn't be bored to tears in certain areas of the game because you're level 21 and everything around you is level 3.

You can still break the game with incredible ease (Reavers, rogue anythings, knight enchanters or whatever they're called) but the patch did wonders.

It's on sale practically for free everywhere right now, so maybe I'll look into some of the DLC...though I kinda want to keep my "no new stuff" rule. I want to see if I can get my backlog under 20 by February or so. (Though PS+ doesn't seem to want that to happen).

The GOTY edition was the only version worth playing looking back. I should've waited.

Multiplayer is still a buggy trash mess though. Don't even boot that up.

Making a multiplayer game must be fucking terrifying, knowing that even if its good it could just wither after a few weeks because there is so much competition. Especially for shooters with CoD, BF and CS having such established player-bases. Plus Overwatch has taken a big slice of the pie.
