no full screen mode...for a game in 2016
randomly hopped into one of my alien isolation save games...might as well have dropped me into a maze with no lights on. Game handles where to go and what to do really badly. And I'm not sure how the alien mechanic works yet. He hasn't actually revealed himself and chased me yet but he's clearly stalking me. I see him constantly on my motion radar and hear him creeping around the ceiling shafts above me.

Caping for XCOM
I have the natural ability to determine shit, over hyped games within a hour or two of playing. Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 immediately come to mind. I save a ton of unnecessary time.
Be jealous, but don't hate Ace.

I can typically tell if a movie will be entertaining for me just from the trailers, tbh. As long as the trailer is somewhat representative of the movie, anyway.

Movies are not 10+ hours and neither are albums
Come have a seat
I can't seem to find the seat because you already uninstalled it before you gave it a chance for someone to sit on it.

COD is shit. It's fitting.
Been shit since IW dissolved.
Good thing Tittyfall 2 has a campaign like COD 4.

I don't preorder that often tbh... I do an occasional EA joint but I prefer having my money around until the game releases

Why does it bother you that people enjoy a superior way to play or don't like giving companies interest free loans?
By reilo Go To PostBoy, Smokey getting that good work today.
Hey at least I take it. You get clowned about FilePlanet and act like you forget a gaming thread exists in your own forum .
By Smokey Go To PostWhy does it bother you that people enjoy a superior way to play or don't like giving companies interest free loans? It's funny because it's not the AAA games / companies that need those loans and it scares me to just give my money to small companies... So yeah most the time I just wait
I just borrow games these days unless it's something that will be expanded upon or I play regularly. I already feel bad about the games or expansions I do buy.

But hey, you're the one that just closes his eyes when PC games release with a 30FPS cap and require a patch two weeks later or a user mod to fix blurry textures like it didn't prove my point. I also love that the answer to any PC gaming issue is "just install this third party app" to fix shit.
Of course your stock answer is "developer ineptitude" or whatever 🙄

Best Buy was giving out $10 reward gift cards for pre-orders. Combined with their 20% off new game purchases and that's a pretty good deal if it's something you know you want to play.
Admittedly, that's been rare for me this gen (Uncharted 4 is the last new game I bought, MGS V & Batman before that) as there just hasn't been anything I want to play at full price regardless of the the discount + gift card.
The Last Guardian is the only game I'll buy Q4 on day one. Probably take a flyer and pickup older titles on the cheap from Gamefly or black Friday sales but those will just get tossed on the backlog pile with Alien Iso, Wolfenstein, Tearaway, Dishonored, numerous downloaded games and about ten PS3 titles that I keep telling myself I'll get to since I'm not buying many current releases.
This really is a sickness we have as gamers, isn't it? We all acknowledge we have a pile of games to play, yet here we are making lists about new shit. I'm just happy I'm not alone and know that a few of you motherfuckers are way worse than I am because you play and are interested in far more genres than I.

The last game I pre-ordered I had already beta tested so I knew what I was getting. That was over four years ago. I don't pre-order things I haven't touched these days.
"Finished" Mario Galaxy 2. I'll tackle as much as I can of Special World, but probably have to give up at Champion's Road. I couldn't beat it in 3D World, and that game had a way more manageable control setup.
bf1 fixed most of my issues with Bf4
Luke Skywalkers rocking overpowered air vehicles? Gone.
Cheese ass trash maps that are horrific meat grinders like Metro and Operation Locker? gone (as far as I know), or at least nowhere near as popular
Extreme balance issues leading to somehow one team of 64 being incredibly better than the other? Seeing more squad balancing and the train/airship backup as a sort of reinforcement to the losing team seems to be enough of a boon to make things interesting. I've been in many games where we were wrecking a squad and literally lost because we couldn't coordinate well enough to stop the train reinforcement. It's frustrating and feels slightly cheap...but its far better than one side getting rekt all the time.
Land vehicles too strong? Pretty much fixed. They can still do enough damage, but you're not getting 3-4 heavy tanks respawning on the regular running around the map like in BF4. Better tiers which include light tanks that are easier for infantry to handle too.
Better all around map design so I'm not facing snipers literally on top of sky scrapers all over the map like in shanghai in BF4. Guys would literally cheese jump onto a skyscraper, drop their spawn beacons there and just be there the entire game raining down hell.

Why is this a pc gamer exclusive? The worst is any gamer, who pre order games, and then have a bunch of similar complaints to the 1000 others that pre ordered on any given forum, and expressing buyers regret. Fucking hell you man babies. Just wait a day and look at the impressions of the game, before buying it.
But but but I need it pre loaded so I can play it the second it comes out, so i can have the sweet golden gun pre order bonus and can get double XP in the first weekend of release. Otherwise is it even worth playing after that?
I can't think of a game I preordered that I didn't like or regretted buying besides Deus Ex, but that's completely on me because I didn't like HR that much so I had no business getting MD, I just wanted a new single player game to play
@Wooden, PC gamers and and the anti-preorder brigade are seperate entities, though there's a hefty crossover in the Venn diagram I guess ¬¬
These days I preorder games that I know I'll like, and I've legit not been burned by that mindset iirc. With the abundance of pre-release media nowadays, its easy enough to get a good idea of a game before release. Wasted far more money buying shite like Dragon Age, The Witness and PES16 off the back of reviews, so much in fact that I don't much trust them anymore. Watching an hour or two of gameplay is generally enough for me these days to decide whether I want to buy a game or not.
Putting money down well in advance on a release is stupid, as is keeping a preorder for a game like No Man's Sky and then whinging about it when you could see that disappointment coming a mile away. But I don't see the need to just paint everyone who still preorders games with a broad brush. The vast majority of us take it on a case-by-case basis, I assume. Its really quite easy to draw a line between games worth preordering, and those worth waiting for impressions of the full game.

Of course. I also pre ordered FM because... I knew I would like it and knew what I was getting. Of course there is a small chance it would be completely broken somehow, but they got a lot of goodwill with me. It's hard not to laugh at people who, as for your example, pre orders no mans sky and hypes it up in their heads, with such expectations so that even if the game was good, it would never live up to.
An even worse crowd, than the ones that pre orders almost everything, has shown up though. The people who crowdfund games and then are upset they never get made, or get made badly. Hey guess what lads, the reason no one funded them in the first place, were most likely good. I love Psychonauts, but fuck backing that. Double Fine has shown well enough just how crappy they are dealing with deadlines and budgets.

Agreed with that
Also think you kinda lose the right to complain about wasting money on a game if you preorder it, especially one like NMS. I give Star Citizen a lot of shit, but its entirely my fault that I put money into it without really thinking about whether it'd even interest me, let alone come out in the state I'd hoped for.
Sometimes its just fun to make petty jibes though :P
Is FFXII good? People seem to either love it or disregard it. Remaster looks pretty good, watched a video of it earlier. Combat looks like a cross between the active time of VII and realtime of XV.

I really enjoyed the combat and world of FFXII. But the story is... Well it barely exists, and the main character is really not the actual main character. Actually he barely got any motivation for doing whatever. The characters are almost all bland and shitty, but in the end, I think I enjoyed it a lot. Of course bad characters and bad story can be said for most newer FF games, but it really is just completely forgettable in this game.
The battle system is however also much discussed. The gambit system is a way to basically program what your party members needs to do in certain situations. So usually you just control one party member, and then the rest will just do whatever you programmed them to do. I believe there is a way to control every single action manually, but I never did this, as I kind of enjoyed the gambit system. Many seem to fucking hate it though, but eh, certainly a game worth a try imo, if the re master is not a total disaster (which I doubt, FFX was fine). It kind of feels like a single player MMO, but actually fun to play.

This year alone I preordered Rise of the Tomb Raider, Street Fighter V, Overwatch, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, NBA 2K17 and Gears of War 4. I watched no trailers or gameplay for any of them, didn't play the betas for Overwatch or Street Fighter and while I played the beta for Gears 4 I didn't really like it. All of those with the exception of Deus Ex I enjoyed and as I said earlier, i had no business buying that game anyway.
If you don't know by now what you like then you deserve the disappointment. I would have been 6 for 7 on pre-orders this year if I decided to get Civ VI but decided it wasn't worth it since all I play is Gears at the moment.
