By blackace Go To Postwhere did you read that?
The game's subreddit has a bunch of spoilers and gameplay descriptions and stuff. Videos and screenshots too, but they keep getting removed. The goal of the game is to reach the center of the galaxy, and with 18 billion trillion zillion planets to discover and explore, materials to collect for upgrades and all that, it should take a good long time. But the person playing found a design flaw that let them reach the center in a matter of days. From what I could see in all the videos, it looks kinda boring, even if you force yourself to do everything there is to do.
According to the spoilers, it's not a design flaw but a design choice that the guy playing didn't like. Regardless, I never was interested in buying it but it looks like some of the info that has leaked has definitely deflated some people's hype.

Not to be all hot-takey, but it's looked boring from the moment it was shown. Like, I never quite got why this was the game that got the internet all in a tizzy. Because there's no loading screen between a planet and space?
Fly, land, walk, shoot laser at rocks and plants, collect materials, scan, upgrade, buy, sell, repeat. That's all I've seen. It looks like a job simulator in space.

This kinda reminds me of Fable... The hype was more generated by the speculation of what you might be able to do than the actual game itself..

and the lies from Molyneux, do not forget. He pulled several features out of his ass, that turned out to never have been planned, and continued to do that throughout the fable series when doing pr.

This summer is making me really search for games... Anyone following The Dungeons of Castle Madness?
The title is campy but the concept seems hot

I'm so upset at No Mans Sky, I dont know what I expected but it wasnt what I've seen, 100% only myself to blame. I'll still give it a go because I think Ithere are aspects I'll enjoy for 5 minutes but not sure about the full game price now.
whats got people so down on NMS?
Played some R6. Game is too legit tbh. Lured a dude over to a window with my drone and then drilled grenades through the other side. Lit.

Game morphed into so many things it's not over the last 18 months. I'm sure there's fun to be had but I'm not confident the game has the depth to make seeking it out worth it at this point in time.
This might be another The Order situation all over again. Worth checking out, just not anywhere around launch. It's actually releasing at the perfect time to be $15 by the holiday's.
By reilo Go To PostI never understood the appeal from the beginning, either. Like, what's the actual gameplay?I always wondered the same thing. It always looked like a walking simulator and there was never anything like combat shown that I remember.
It could have been cool if it had some 4X stuff going on as you got deeper in. At least Spore had that at the end.

Shot a breaching charge through a window and the moment I jumped in I got bombarded by smoke grenades. Walked through a hallway and noticed i'm losing health like crazy, eventually to the point where I get downed.
Turns out I'm walking through a field of Barbed Wire.
I bought the game.
Beat Chrono Trigger a few moments ago. Fun game.
3rd RPG I completed this month. Decided to look at my time totals for each game just now.
Ys Seven - 37:28
Odin Sphere Leifthrasir - 39:27
Chrono Trigger - 20:55
Overall - 97:50
So close to 100. Could have done more end game stuff in CT but I was kinda burnt out by then. lol

PlayStation VR: Virtual Reality Headset Requires About 60 Square Feet of Space for Use, Sony Sayswait wat.
Players should also clear an area of about 9.8 feet by 6.2 feet and remain seated whenever possible while playing, according to new documentation released by Sony. The headset launches on Oct. 13.
surely not for games like Gran Turismo and Ace Combat?
and please, I beg you. someone tell me why I'm not about that VR life.
im thirsty af for Gran Turismo and Ace Combat.
oh baby come to daddy.
More excited about the new WoW expansion than most games coming out this year.
The stuff they're doing with world quests and dungeons feels like they're actually trying to establish communities again.

thanks for bringing down back to erf, giri.
I'll make sure to ignore all the GT and AC hype.

I still plan to play NMS if budget allows it. I understood what it was without any other idea as to what it was. You play the game because you can fly in space and fly down to planets and fly over the planets. That's the major difference between it and other games.
VR's just one of those things that... Yeah they can start to do ever exapnding rooms / scapes. It's becoming slightly more affordable.
But to do it proper you need a pretty beasty machine. The environments are tiny still, and the support is still super limited.
They also have to figure out a way to make it actually worth while in game. What are the controls, How do they interact. Are they supperior to current scheme's ? (no).
VR is for Gaming what 3D was to TV's.
Great in theory... but the execution and support are still a long ways off, and needed.

This can't be right. Unless you're the Emperor there isn't 60 square feet of empty space in Japan.

It took me something insane, like 140. And there was so much that I never did. And thanks to the "old school" feel the game was so grindy and repetitive that by the end of it I was just numb.
Not sure how many people bother making sure their TV and devices connected to it are outputting a reasonably accurate picture, but I wrote some words on it in another thread: http://slaent.com/thread/637939/page/7/post/820848/

I'm actually ok with long games. Last three games I completed all ran me about 70 hours. Just takes me a month or so to get through them.
Thing keeping me away from DQ in general is finding it hard to commit to the series in general, since there's so many of them and they're all pretty lengthy. I have DQ5 on my dresser though so I'll check it out eventually
By DY_nasty Go To Postretro, tell me about knights of azure
I don't know. Gust games really aren't my jam. I actually tried playing Ar No Surge this summer and uhhhhhhh
and BREH tell me why macross delta is already getting a game
Dunno but the fact that it's coming out so quickly can't be a good thing lol
By blackace Go To PostAnyone played Grim Dawn?Yeah, though I haven't played it since they added controller support. Made by the same team that made Titan Quest and has a lot of similarities with that game.
Anything in particular you want to know?
By blackace Go To Postworth 14 bucks for a summer title? If you enjoy hack n' slash looters like the Diablo series, Path of Exile, and Titan Quest, it is worth triple that.
I feel bad because I got Shadowrun HK... Had it since launch and can't really bring myself to start it... and Grim Dawn is on sale so was thinking maybe I'd run with that
Jordan looking a bit confused and Barkley seems tiny. Visuals are certainly not impressive in that image.
