Nintendo is doing too much
I played the last big wow expansion. And thoroughly enjoyed the levelling experience.
The End game was terrible. Guilds are still super inclusive and new people are always on the outer. Can take more time than its worth to get into a consistent raiding spot.
The most enjoyable part was no flying mounts, again. Really made the game a lot better actually.
FF was ... bleh to me. I only played it for 2months post release and it was a mess. Haven't gone back.

Moving through your inventory and every UI action you made was calculated server side. Not to mention literal copy+paste terrain. And then there were the actual game mechanics...
2.0 (aka A Realm Reborn) was an actually quality game. They overhauled 95% of the game. I don't think I'm even exaggerating. I do acknowledge it isn't a game for everyone as it is still WoW style and individual classes and difficulty doesn't really pick up until you are like level 30 or 40 (depending on class).

You don't get a 2.0. Don't make me pay for your alpha / beta release and maybe I won't be so annoyed.
By giririsss Go To Post1.0It wasn't so much an alpha/beta release as much as SE learning why outsourcing nearly all development of an MMO with little oversight and supervision is a bad, terrible, awful, wtf idea.

That shit should not have made it to release.
But Sony couldn't even be fucked to do their own testing. so... RIP.
It was also ungainly in many other ways. Gaining knowledge about the world, how to navigate/traverse it, etc etc were handled terribly too.
By giririsss Go To PostYeah. Beta / alpha testing.Literally the only good thing about 1.0 was the idea of switching classes by changing the weapon you had equipped and having your gear for it equipped automatically.

Oh, the music was great, too. But that's it. Performance was terrible, navigation was confusing (fuck Gridania), battle system was lacking, no clear way to progress, etc. Just awful.
WoW's current issue, aside from a lack of non-raider content, is that they do nothing to encourage player/server interaction outside of guilds. Which could be some of that non-raider content. They need to do more stuff on that front.
As easy as it is to rag on roleplay servers, at least those fuckers do stuff. At least they know how to have fun in the game without raid or PVP being the only way to do such a thing. They put out their own community events and interactions because Blizzard is too lazy to make their own.
Gerstmann dropped some shade on No Man's Sky on the latest Bombcast. I wonder if he's got it.

for so long i've wanted to replay marvel ultimate alliance but i sold my 360 years ago. finally they get re-released and it's gotta be the worst remaster ever, which shouldn't be too surprising since CoD4 isn't even launching with all it's content.

Quadrilateral Cowboy has some super cool mechanics in it but I really dislike the art style. It doesn't feel like it matches the setting they're seemingly trying to go for at all. Especially when stuff like Superhot earlier this year captured their style so much better.
Like I'd love to see your little Deck command prompt hacking in Deus Ex or Cyberpunk 2077 instead.

You guys are underestimating Nintendo. If you combined the sales of the 3DS & Wii U, that would have been a competitive system. Not splitting up their development efforts is going to create a software juggernaut.
Consider:
1) Last year they released 30 games. The year before 29. And 29 the year before that. If those cannons were all aimed at the same system, the near lack of 3rd parties suddenly becomes irrelevant. They can pretty much fill a release calendar by themselves. What's more, they had to push a bunch of undercooked games out the door just to have something on shelves (RIP Star Fox). This lets them keep things in the oven for an extra 3-6 months if need be without having to worry about droughts and creating a 3 month gulf in their release schedule.
2) All the various groups of people that are interested in Pokemon, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Smash, Mario Kart, Metroid, Splatoon, Fire Emblem, DKC and 2D & 3D Mario are going to be on the same platform. That will have a really positive halo effect for enlarging the ecosystem as a whole.
3) In going for cheaper parts they're going to create a system at or near impulse-buy status that promises access to 100% of Nintendo's output. All the techies grumbling about non-bleeding edge specs are going to be the same people picking one up as a second or third console for Zelda, Fire Emblem and Metroid because by year two it's only ~$199 or $149 in year four so why the hell not?
4) It's not like a Wii situation where it was trapped in an old SD paradigm. And games like Mario Kart 8 and Breath of the Wild show they have the artistic talent to render a technology gap much less meaningful than it otherwise would be to most people.
5) Pokemon on your TV.
I'm not declaring the return of the Wii, but I do think this system will put them back on solid ground unless they really fumble key details of the presentation and launch.

Yea pretty much what I said--the combination of their handheld and home console developers will solve the issue of lack of software.
The only thing that could really hamper this whole thing is hardware. If it's too shit then its just going to feel like a handheld. Ideally it'd be somewhat better than Wii U graphically with the Fire Emblems of the world meeting that baseline.
If it ended up being something like all of Nintendo's console games being brought down to the level of vita like graphics it'd be a fukin disaster imo

Wound up refunding Quadrilateral Cowboy. The game never seems to build on its mechanics. The game feels too lethargic and uninterested to ever take itself seriously. So why would I? Like this is going to sound bad, but I don't know how else to put it. It's the first game I've ever played where it felt like I was playing the video game version of a hipster. It never once sold me on what it was, what it was about, and what it was doing. It just kept throwing random scenery and random word combinations while pretending to be detached. The deck stuff was cool but it never increases. It never gets more complex. It just drops mechanics and puts new ones in at random.
Probably get Abzu instead.

yeah fuck it just do it for the big screen pokemon
I never bothered with the Wii U despite it having some games I wanted, so I'm a little disappointed with no backwards compatibility, but this does sound like a nice little console to have

Yeah that's all good, but software has never been Nintendo's problem. It's hardware. And I have zero faith in them to pull something like this off without fucking it up along the way.

its free to play on pc
Since when
Doesn't really matter, I have it on PC anyway lol
Starting with the higher-end Quadro P6000, we have a P100 GPU with the full 3840 CUDA cores and a huge 24GB of GDDR5X RAM. It will have 4 x DisplayPort 1.4 connectors and DVI, with NVIDIA saying the Quadro P6000 can support four 5K 60Hz displays.
so that's where all the cores went.
who's got $5,000 to blow?
By data Go To PostI have played the new mmos. Don't be so dismissive. What if I told you, 'have you really played WoW?' the combat and depth of talent choices encourage variety where other MMOs lack it due to the large cast of classes where there's typically a massive difference between the two. Games like Wildstar and TERA feel completely spammy by proxy.
BDO2's progression is a complete nightmare and there's a reason it fell off the map instantly.
FF is the only MMO I'd say can compare to WoW when you're talking theme park MMOs.
Variety? Most classes have one or two options in WoW. Blizz has gradually erased build options over time. The game is played with macros. Many of the classes boil down to the same thing. Range casters have a primary "bolt" cast with some instants and buffers thrown in. A lot of the classes play alike. The only thing that changes is the type of magic the "bolt" is for each class.
What is BDO2?
Also, if you're being spammy in TERA then you're doing it wrong. Wildstar is more rotation based. Wouldn't call it spammy either. Timing important as always.
might be better suited for the tech talk thread but it mainly effects my gaming so i'll post here
sometimes my PC acts all weird and it's really annoying. If I want to play a game it's all stuttery and I get like half the FPS I should get, if I try to watch videos it basically comes out looking like this
I have a GTX 970 and I know there was all that 3.5GB drama so is this a 970 issue? I never had this happen with my 7970..
If I restart my PC it's usually fine and I can play games/watch videos with no issues but it gets annoying having to restart just to use my PC.

When I googled it, someone had a similar issue but his CPU was around 90 degrees under full load, 50 while idle. Mine is 60 under full load so I can't imagine it's a CPU issue for me
Is it exactly like that? That's just extreme macro blocking and compression artifacts. If that is flash youtube, try disabling hardware acceleration and see if it goes away (if its html5 player, do it through the browser options). See what that does and let me know.
