Istanbul (CNN)It was a strike at the heart of Turkey's culture and its multibillion-dollar tourist industry.
The suicide bombing on Sultanahmet Square on Tuesday killed 10 people – all of them Germans, the German Foreign Ministry confirmed Wednesday.
It was the deadliest attack on Germans abroad in more than 13 years. And Turkey's Prime Minister promised a determined effort to repel the threat.
"We will continue our fight against terrorism with the same resolve and will never take a step back," Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, according to Turkey's semiofficial news site, Anadolu Agency.
But he added that Istanbul had "become a city of hope today in the rings of fire in the region, to the people of the Middle East, Balkans and Caucasus."
...and America is the worst place to live. I had a liberal friend who freaked out about moving to the area for work. Ultimately, she was contradicting her beliefs in reasoning. You have to be safe and it's fine to be embarrassed for Turkey.
Interesting attack.
It's worth mentioning that Germany has the highest population of Turkish people of any other country in the world, outside of Turkey itself. They account for 22% of Germany's foreign populous. So this seems very calculated and intentional.

Suicide bombing and grenade attacks near a Jakarta mall, gunshots reported throughout the city. Gunmen seem to be holed up in the mall.
I have very little family left in Indonesia, thankfully, but stay safe to anyone here who may be in Jakarta.

ISIS claiming responsibility for this and the Istanbul attacks.
Can we please just eradicate them already?

More than an understanble sentiment, but -1- that's the kind of thinking that not only ISIS itself has, -2- it's also the kind of reactions they want to elicit, -3- that got them there in the first place, and -4- that will help grow since civillians would suffer. But I know "eradicate" is just a word that could mean many things.
1-4 may be true, but the other option is to pursue some sort of solution that does not involve bombing them into oblivion - but in the years that you spend doing this, more people die in attacks and more people die under their rule in the territory they hold. You are never going to make people not hate the western world or not hate secularish governments, but you can damn sure make sure that it is very hard for them to hurt you again.
