DEVELOPING: Multiple NFL owners, officials say consensus is building to pair Chargers, Rams in Inglewood. https://t.co/Mn6fTJREdGhttps://twitter.com/nathanfenno/status/686647924843888640
Joke league is jokes.
as a recent nfl watcher (have family in san diego, so i lumped my lot in with them) this whole process confuses me
we get furious here in the uk when an owner wants to change a teams name, yet across the pond they are allowed to move the franchise to another part of the country?
are the people of LA that desperate for a team? how can you expect people to be attached to a team literally created for financial reasons? there's no history, no sense of community.
meh, maybe just a different mindset
P.S can we leave melvin gordon in san diego thx

LA wants football here in whatever form.
Rams have a lot of history in LA, and will almost undoubtedly be THE football team from the jump.
No, you're correct. It's mind boggling. It's a game of rich people getting richer and rarely an owner that is in it for the competition.

It's terrible, lots of fan bases have had to deal with an owner wanting the state to pay for their stadiums mostly. But at least in The Rams case, they were in LA for nearly 50 years.
I don't think many want The Chargers in LA unless they're the only option.
The blatant extortion is worse than the teams simply moving, even in the sneaky way the Colts left Baltimore or the Browns originally left Cleveland.
St. Louis and San Diego offered up proposals that would have subsidized new stadiums and guaranteed huge profits for these owners for years to come, and Goodell comes out and calls their proposals "unsatisfactory."
Goodell's legacy will be putting every NFL team in a gleaming new soulless stadium way out in the fucking suburbs. That and fucking up every scandal but keeping his job because he acts as a punching bag and deflects attention away from the horrible owners.

Pro franchise owner want the financial support from the local area to fund their pet project but don't want to give the area any voting power in holding them accountable. So when the team sucks and owners wants new arena, the city always loses.

I would love the Rams back. Fuck da Raiders. Completely ambivalent about the Chargers.

Because I'm ambivalent about the Chargers I don't know as much about their proposal. I do think Kroenke brought up valid points about declining population in St. Louis and lagging economic outlooks. The Inglewood project is mostly privately funded too no? I would think that would make people happy.
I'd really prefer The Chargers stay in San Diego. It's a great city and their owner seems content to be The Clippers of Football in LA because it's more financially appealing than being the only show in San Diego.

The NFL is involved and their behavior has been incredibly tone-deaf, so I assumed there's shady shit going down.
Sports are losing franchise for the cities they reside in but that doesn't stop people from accepting the move, look at Santa Clara, stadium was a joke within the year. You price out the people who are fans regardless of how well the team is doing, know how to act and look what you get. Sports has basically become yet another thing the upper class has stripped away from lower classes as a status symbol and "look where I am." Then you have owners continually taking tax money because god forbid they pay for these financial sink holes they'll eventually leave and demand a better facility sometimes (often) elsewhere.
This is the death knell of my NFL Fandom. I grew up with the Rams...They can fuck right off.
I can't believe I'm a fan of two Stan Kroenke teams. Kill me

The Superbowl is going to be at Levi's? Hahaha. As if that place isn't a big enough fuck up for regular games, especially the traffic.

Neither the Carson nor the Inglewood projects are using public funding. St. Louis offered public funds to keep the Rams and I think SD did as well for the Chargers. However, IIRC, the chargers proposal was a weird solution and the details were kinda funky. I don't remember the specifics though because again, I'm ambivalent. The St. Louis offer was legit, but Kroenke largely views it as an area that will have depressed economic outlook moving forward.
Neither the Chargers nor the Raiders have the money to build their own stadium. Kroenke does. Since LA has said no to public financing from the beginning, they've been trying to mix and match the teams and the stadium that makes the most sense.
Since the Raiders have neither the money to move, nor a viable offer from the City of Oakland for a field, they had the least leverage in this. Which is why they originally tried to group with the Chargers in Carson. There's logistical problems with the Carson project that don't exist in Inglewood though and it looks like Kroenke will agree to partner with the Chargers to make this work as the NFL has placed a priority on getting one or two of the SD / OAK stadiums fixed.
Fixing clearly means renovating in this instance. Both the SD and OAK stadiums are old and way below standard.

More teams in ALL sports need to be ran like the Packers
The Packers are the only community-owned franchise in American major league professional sports.[28] Rather than being the property of an individual, partnership, or corporate entity, they are held in 2014 by 360,584 stockholders. No one is allowed to hold more than 200,000 shares,[5] approximately 4% of the 5,011,557 shares[29] currently outstanding. It is this broad-based community support and non-profit structure[30] which has kept the team in Green Bay for nearly a century in spite of being the smallest market in all of North American professional sports.
By 33MillionDollarMen Go To PostGood luck getting one of these rich assholes who are in a clique to give a team back to its city. Not saying it will happen... but it really should happen

inglewood?
why that shit town?
move them to pasadena at the Rose Bowl.
or build that new Farmer's Field at Downtown, but not that rundown of a city.

St. Louis and San Diego probably don't realize it, but their cities will be better off not wasting hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer money on boondoggle sports stadiums.
But anyways, the Rams belong back in L.A., so I'll welcome that if it happens. Couldn't care less about what happens to the Chargers or the Raiders.

By Fenderputty Go To PostCarson or inglewood are it, man.why though?
are those the only two cities pushing for the move?
heck, it would be cool if they moved back to the Coliseum.
the Coliseum has and always will be Ram's home.

I don't remember why this fell through. This would have been the best IMO
Why two teams? That's the only thing that doesn't make sense to me about this. The city is already stuffed with multiple franchises in every other major sport in this country. Why two teams again right from the jump? What's the specific benefit? Because it seems like the Rams makes the most sense, but at the same time it also seems like San Diego and Oakland are just like, fuck that, we want in on this too!
Chargers owner is citing substantial income from Orange and LA county including a lot of season ticket holders that he believes he will lose immediately and be hurt substantially in his wallet.

Rams solo to Inglewood is a no-go.
It's either Rams+Chargers to Inglewood or Raiders+Chargers to Carson. Supposedly Raiders + Chargers is the favorite.
That's fucking terrible.

We're just stealing The Rams back, no one really wants The Chargers.
If The Rams don't come to LA I'm just gonna continue ignoring the NFL outside of the Super Bowl.
no thanks to raiders.

Rams will always be a los angeles team.

well yeah, that's exactly happened with them moving to St. Louis,
the Rams owner, IIRC wanted to refit the Coliseum with an ailing fanbase,
so they consequently moved to St. Louis.
