I live about 2-3 miles from my place of employment.

2-3 minute walk.
Wish I didn't.
Always see my students and their parents around. God knows what they have seen of me.

I live in the Suburbs of london, 60 minutes door to door to make it into the Ec1.
However I used to commute from Coventry to London which suprisingly wasnt much longer

It is nice being able to go home take a shower and change on humid or rainy days. Play some games while I am on my break.
But sucks that I open my window and see my school.
The bus system up here is some truly strange shit, but it typically takes me 30 to get to work and an hour to get home.
For me to own a home closer to work and live in a comparable area as far as crime, schooling and amenities are concerned, I would have to make a substantial amount more money. My current mortgage is already spreading me thin. My same house in a comparable area in the OC would cost me another 100K easy.
3 minute walk. I live in the city center and I work at a store. On the one hand it's nice. On the other hand, if I go grocery shopping I have to pass by work. And sometimes you just wanna go about your business but you also don't want to ignore your co-workers when you walk by :P
But I won't complain. My school, work and the student cafe I frequent are all in a five minute walking distance. Basically my whole social life is within this circle. Except for family of course. My parents and grandpa live at 10 minutes biking distance though.
