Magic played no defense and played like 60% of the years that Kobe did. Magic also played with Kareem almost his entire career so any "but Shaq" arguments apply there as well.
I'm fine with placing Magic above Kobe, but Kobe has pretty much every single franchise record, he's higher up in practically everything except assists and rebounds.
Kareem was Kareem for a at most 10 years in LA whereas Kobe had 15 dominating seasons. You've got to have a serious hate boner for Kobe to put him outside of the top 2.
As for distance, you're making proclamations during his worst season ever, that distance argument goes both ways and 10 years from now when it's clear just how many records he holds, placing him below 2nd (even 2nd really) will just be subjective bias.

By blackace Go To PostI have never really called Westbrook a dumbass, a bit of a ballhog at times… Now Cousins really is a dumbass because he does foul out he does get techs and he does do things on the court and at times off the court to hurt his team..all the positional ynot stuff that westbrook does at pg, klay more than accomplishes at sg
and im positive ive seen you drop some YNBs before
By DY_nasty Go To Postall the positional ynot stuff that westbrook does at pg, klay more than accomplishes at sgNever really shat on him like that... Again, I do call him a ballhog and think he shoots more than he should when together with KD...

I was never really on the Ynot wagon... can't say I never said anything, but I pretty much just call him a gunner
Kobe got the Lakers rings and kept them relevant for 10 years post Shaq. I can see the argument for him.

Aldridge disabled his Twitter and Instagram accounts following San Antonio's blowout loss to Golden State, leading some to speculate he was unhappy with the negative reaction to his poor performance.
Not the case, Aldridge said.
"I just wanted to lock in," Aldridge said. "It's not anything about the game. It's a new adventure for me. I've never been in this system, with this team. I've never been a top-two team in the West, so I just want to lock in on my season. It had nothing to do with that game."

Bryant said it took him less than one game to recognize Gasol's talent.
"As soon as he caught the ball and he finished it, I ran back to the bench, I said, ‘Yes, Phil,'" – referring to Phil Jackson, "'we've got a big that can catch it and finish! We're going to the Finals!'"

As if Pau was just "a big that can catch and finish" that was unproven before he was traded... Sigh.

That Lakers team was not a "catch and shoot big" away from contending. They were Pau Gasol away.

Man you're reading way too deep into this
I think the city of L.A. didn't really appreciate what he did and what we had
He's one of the best post players of all time
None of that is "throwing shade"

Belittle? Throw shade?
He called him one of the greatest post players who ever played the game, lol. Just because his first impression of Gasol wasn't laced with superlatives doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate the man. Kobe would be the first one to tell you he owes two of his finals to Gasol. He says about as much in the article.
Also, the top 3 is pretty firm at magic, jabbar, and Kobe. You can put those three in any order.
Fascinating.
It was. And both Magic and Kareem are ahead of Kobe on the NBA All Time Mountaintop. It's just that Greatest Laker Ever doesn't just mean greatest player who played for the Lakers (because Wilt's there too), it also factors in what's been accomplished in a Laker uniform. And to that end, having practically all of the Franchise records; To be 3rd in rebounds, 2nd in assists, 1st in steals, along with all the natural scoring records, minutes played, games played, wins, win shares, along with 5 chips and top 3 league wide in scoring means he's the greatest Laker ever. Just resume wise.
I'm fine with Magic up at 1 because Magic is the GOAT PointGod but he just doesn't have anything close to Kobe's hold on the record books.

Silver, who was a speaker at the Total Health Forum in which the NBA partnered with Kaiser Permanente to discuss the importance of fitness and diet, said afterward that the evolution of social media has affected fan voting enough that the league will reevaluate the current system.http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2016/01/28/nba-commissioner-adam-silver-reevaluate-fan-voting-all-star-game/79463524/
“On (fan) balloting, it’s something we’ll continue to look at,” Silver said. ”We love the fact that fans have input into who the All-Stars are. As social media changes the world and is disruptive, it’s been mildly disruptive to our balloting systems as well. I know that’s something we’ll take a fresh look.”
Silver the GOAT GM.

IMO Kobe may become the greatest Laker ever, but it depends on what happens after his career too. Magic has been pretty involved with the franchise for a long time.

Carmelo BETTER be out. He sprained his ankle, overcompensated and wound up tweaking the surgically repaired knee. And those two OT games where he played 40+ minutes didn't help. Sit him out so he can recover from both ailments fully, don't care if it takes a week. Because if Knicks actually view themselves as a playoff team (not sure of that yet IMHO), then you need everyone healthy.

By DY_nasty Go To Postremember last yearIf the Knicks training staff treats last year the same as this one, then they are morons. They actually have been active in resting him this year though:
Carmelo Anthony (sore left knee) will miss Thursday's game against the Raptors.Smart move. I would even bother playing him against the Suns either, Knicks should be able to win that w/o him.
Anthony has told reporters that he'll sit on Thursday and is hopeful he'll be able to play against the Suns on Friday. Lance Thomas will likely start in Melo's place again, while Derrick Williams and Arron Afflalo will see an uptick in usage.
The Knicks have signed Thanasis Antetokounmpo to a 10-day contract.
Giannis' brother Thanasis has yet to play in an NBA game to this point in his career, but perhaps he gets a chance to make his NBA debut Thursday night with Carmelo Anthony (knee) on the sidelines.

I wonder if the Knicks signing Thanasis was to make sure they had some depth on the roster prior to trading away guys for Teague. Because he's not getting minutes unless LT and/or Dwill is gone.
