Who do you guys reckon turned out to be the better buy without considering trophies, Alonso for Madrid or Masch for Barca?
Think Masch is quite underappreciated.

I can't help but equate trophies into the mix so I have to go with Mascherano, he was also beastly for Argentina.
Alonso brought balance to the team, he commanded the midfield and we haven't found a 1-1 match since his departure. Kroos has been doing a good job though.
Madrid are big enough to make a tonne of money on the name alone without needing to be particularly well run. Plus all the dodgy shit like selling land to the government for a massively inflated price.
What you do with that money is akin to a 10 year old playing Football Manager. Never been able to tell if the Galacticos policy is doomed to filure always, or if it just needs someone smarter than Perez making the decisions. There are plenty of top players who can play with one another, just look at Suarez and Neymar. They have the attitude to go with the ability,

That's not true, not even remotely true. Your debt is almost crippling.
I really don't care for the business side of things in football, I must be a minority. I rather we be near broke and win trophies than be worth billions and not win a single trophy.
Or why not both?
Or why not both?
By Hitch Go To Postor if it just needs someone smarter than Perez making the decisions. We have a ex-construction company CEO tycoon running around signing our players. That about says it all really.
The problem is the board. How the fuck do they let Perez to make all the decisions. The squad needs revamp from all these inflated egos bought during his era. But as usual nothing will happen and we'll end up buying Hazard for a world record fee.
By Mister0079 Go To Postthat's a pretty good thread title lolHaha I just caught it when you brought it up, that's good.
So with Rafa sacked, I say again, thank fuck we sacked Rodgers in time to get Klopp.
Genuinely think Real Madrid are legit underdogs while Barca are around, and there is no more challenging job in world football than managing them.

I cannot wait for Zidane to be an absolute fucking disaster. Let's see those white handkerchiefs as nobody knows what they're supposed to be doing and Barcelona are thirteen nil up.
And Ronaldo is sulking.

COPE: Florentino Perez will only come out to say that Rafa Benitez has been sacked. He will not take questions.

By Yurt Go To Postprobably managing MilanI feel like they're close to accepting that it'll be a long and arduous trek back to the top.
Once you've fallen down as far as they have, its tough to get back up. As Milan, so Liverpool. Ever since 2005 :(
By Hitch Go To PostI feel like they're close to accepting that it'll be a long and arduous trek back to the top.it only takes 18 months to turn everything around, we were there, stuck with overpaid duds who refuse to leave and so many grim transfers.

Kloppo will steady the ship, you have the capitano for it.
It's going to take some time and effort to undo what Perez/Rafa did in the past 7 months. While doing so, we may decline even furthermore, and in no way should we take this decline as a sign of anything really.
For example, Bale in the AM role.. Let's undo that, it never really worked that well.

By Freewheelin Go To PostWatching this Making A Murderer doc on Netflix, absolutely disgusted and angryGoing to watch it soon, heard good things.
And I'm only on ep 2. It's going to get worse isn't it :(
By Arnie Go To PostMadrid fans, let's just clear this up, you're only getting worse from here on in.
United under Moyes worse?
By FortunéFaded Go To PostWent without power from 8 till 2. I wouldn't have made it in the 19th Century lads.I was getting concerned when the thread title stopped changing, glad you're ok.
By Arnie Go To PostMadrid fans, let's just clear this up, you're only getting worse from here on in.I think sacking a coach 1/2 through his term isn't the greatest of approaches. Anyone with some sense would accept that things are going to be even more difficult as the new coach tries to inject his ideas to the players. It's a tough situation to be in, we have Perez to thank for that.

By Bungie Go To PostIt will be really sad if he's complete failureWhy? Because he was a great player? To be quite honest it'll serve him right for hoisting himself to the top of the pile rather than proving himself beforehand.
To the post above regarding the appointment coming halfway through a season, I think there are far bigger barriers to success than timing. Mainly:
- That your new manager has ZERO experience of being a successful head coach at any level of football (let alone the most elite)
- That your new manager has yet to even manage in a top league, success or not
- That your new manager, despite all of these clear deficiencies, is taking over a club that's inherently broken due to the imbalanced and reckless recruitment process
It's not even that he isn't anywhere near as exceptional as Pep (he isn't), but his working conditions are that much more difficult as Real Madrid aren't a club setup to succeed. Hence their lack of sustained domination at any sphere despite the tidal wave of corruption poured into the clubs finances each year.
Woodward don't imitate this. Throw Giggs to the curb.
Zidane bringing his whole family. Look away Benitez.

Good luck to Zidane, always liked him. It will take balls to sack him if it comes to that. Players need to shoulder some of the blame for this season, it's not all Rafa

This was so inevitable. Madrid are the stupidest club in European football, they never should have sacked Ancelotti, he was great.
