There was modchips and such, but also some magicswap thing. I played the leaked version of Manhunt 2 using that. We used to have a guy on footygaf, that knew the guy who leaked it directly from the Sony office (even uploading it from there lol).
By Woodenpapangus Go To PostWell you also gotta keep in mind that this is just before, game budgets exploded to insane amounts. Mid budget games pretty much died after that generation on consoles. It was the perfect time for companies to take risks and earn big rewards on it.I know that there are plenty of mid-tier titles on PC nowadays, but God do I miss them on consoles. What an utter tragedy, for AA games to die such a horrible death.

By Eike Go To PostSilent Hill 2 had some excellent music. Like legitimately excellent music.

Akira Yamaoka, what a man. The music just fits the games so well. Sadly even his music took a turn for the worse with later games from other studios.
By Eike Go To PostHow does one modify a PS2? Where does one find these less well known games like your Football Kingdom? There are a few ways. The easiest solution is to either get someone who has a modded PS2 to install FreeMCBoot into a memory card or either buy a memory card with FreeMCBoot pre-installed (except if you have a PS2 Slim version 9xxx). Then you can install some apps like OpenPS2Loader that runs the games directly from an external Hard Drive.
You can find the games easily, there are some forums who still put regular links for PS2 isos.
Eike, where are you located? If you are really interested, I could try and get my hands on a PS2 to install the FreeMCBoot into a memory card when I go back home for the end of semester break, I think I still have a couple of memory cars lining around the house and I can send one of them to you.

Thanks for the info. Any info on the bolded?
That is very generous of you LFMartins, but I have like 8 spare memory cards lying about and will sort it out myself when I get the time. Just checked some tutorials and it does not seem too difficult to do it myself.
I have many games that I want to back up anyway so this could be a great way to do that. Time can take its toll on the physical discs.
Edit: Just had a look and I have a collection of colourful 8MB cards and one 32MB one. Good times.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 are probably the only video game soundtracks I listen to regularly. Akira Yamaoka was on his best for those 2 games.
Overdose Delusion is another amazing track from 2.

Sure. Got a steam account or something? I rather send you a PM or any other thing with the link instead of posting it here.
PS2 emulation is really really good on pc too, if you got a just ok pc. Some of the games on PS2 still look really good these days, with purely a bigger resolution and supersampling.
Yeah it is! Promise and Theme of Laura will always be my favorites though.

Fair enough, I let you know where to contact me as soon as I set up a dummy account somewhere.
In regards to Silent Hill, I have sometimes problems progressing for large chunks as I get too freaked out and have to come back another day.
Silent Hill 1 was scary at the time and made me take a time out of at least a week before I could complete it.

I rented the first Silent Hill when I was 9 or 10, from blockbuster. Big mistake. I made it to the first part where you are attacked, die and then wake up at the diner, and that point I just stopped. Fuck that. I had already played lots of Resident Evil 1 at that point and loved it, but SH1 was something else. I actually played and finished SH2 & SH3 before I went back to SH1 and completed it. Which made me miss a lot of things about SH3 the first time through.

After that happened more than 20 times, I decided to finally watch the death animation until the end...Boy, did I felt dumb that day...

Did they fuck the collision detection/hitboxes in the PC version of Dark Souls? Watching someone play it, and I'm sure they're just walking straight through boss attacks.
N64 is my favorite Nintendo console and probably the one with strongest first party software they have put out quality wise
On that note Aonuma needs to leave Zelda..Give it to Retro or EAD tokyo pls

Just finished Undertale. Got the true pacifist ending.
The ending was great but there is a lot of secrets in the game and I HATE HUNTING DOWN PIXELS AND BEATING THE GAME MULTIPLE TIMES JUST TO UNDERSTAND THE FUCKING STORY. I am just gonna youtube them but with all these endless fan theories circling around bothers me. I don't know what to believe.
It's just a game. No point in caring.
9/10.
Gonna start playing Earthbound and hopefully Mother 3 eventually.

Being forced to actually finish a game was kinda great :P
The first 3 Silent Hills are basically perfect games for me.
The fourth has some terrible, terrible choices in it.

I haven't played REmake all the way through. What I did play was pretty good.
I love the crocodile honestly. Haha, it scared the shit out of me.

The only silent Hill game I finished is shattered memories. The other are too spoopy.
The dreamcast and the Saturn got no marketing here so I didn't even know they existed as a kid, got them later and yeah good consoles but nothing earth shattering for me.
I saw someone talking about timesplitters 2, to this day me and my friend are still playing that coop on hard mode on the GC, trying to complete it. Such an awesome game.
Best football games: pes5, pes6, ISS, Sega soccer slam. I wonder why we get like a third of the football games we had back in the day, a decent fifa street priced correctly and with good modes and online would sell probably, and let's not get started on virtua striker/mario/Ronaldo v-football/actua soccer/red card
