Basically, the overwhelming majority of economics research has said that "DEY TERK OUR JERBS" is incorrect and there was some research that suggested that there were in fact zero negative effects of immigration (from declining wages, etc). A notable Harvard economist tried to counter this claim... by removing a bunch of groups until his sample size was basically nothing and then claiming that his study showed that immigrants do reduce native wages. Borjas is so experienced and is so well-known for arguing that there are some minor negative effects of immigration that this "error" appears to be just lying to reach the conclusion he wanted. Shameful work. Borjas is known for also having been on the chair of a grad student working on a thesis claiming that Mexican immigration should be stopped because the Mexicans had too low of IQs so this isn't Borjas' worst moment, but it is his most straight academically shameful.
But yeah, so, immigration is good.

This is my field. Funny to read a reference to it here.
You would be surprised at how weak the demonstrations are in defense of the migrants-depress-wages theory. The Harvard and the Cornell guys have little scientific consciousness. They'll mistake correlation and causation, they'll discard the data they dislike, they won't acknowledge the existence of opposing arguments...
