Sicario was very good. Perhaps a bit less ambitious than i was expecting it to be. DV clearly saving himself up for the Blade Runner sequel.
Still sad Joaqin Phoenix wasting a year of his life with that mediocre bluff/performance a few years back.

Yeah, it's nothing new. Just a real well executed film. Del Toro is fiyah.
By Zabojnik Go To PostSicario was very good. Perhaps a bit less ambitious than i was expecting it to be. DV clearly saving himself up for the Blade Runner sequel.Thank fuck Ridley's not directing it, he's gone a bit mental with the Alien sequels now ffs
Joaquin is the realest. But he only picks prestige projects so for all intents and purposes, Oscar Isaac has the "I have to see whatever movie he's in" crown locked up at the moment.

I still think Prisoners was his finest movie. Not the greatest of ending or twists, sure, but the journey was nail biting to say the least

I'd be more excited if DV, Gosling and Deakins were doing something new.
Blade Runner doesn't do much for me.

Alien is Ridley's only great film
But it is a fucking masterpiece and one of the best films ever
So he does have some credit

I love the ambiguity and mystery of Alien more than any other film. I never ever wanted questions answered. Especially not in a total of 5 goddamn films.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but after Prometheus he really has to prove himself now.

I like it. The game was really fucking cool too, a bit of an overlooked gem from Westwood of all studios.
I never really got into the Rocky films (not a big fan of Stallone tbh) and thought Creed was ok. Just ok. Don't really understand the huge praise it's getting. I think it did a particularly bad job of telling you how much time had passed. Also Tony Bellew was... not good.

Really great game, discovered it years later and still loved it.

Timid writing and the whole thing was remarkably unremarkable.
the last fight though was GREAT
I love Blade Runner, I think it's an absolute masterpiece. I will however admit that it is somewhat hard for me to tell where the objective qualities of the film end and where my adoration begins, because I almost view it as an extention of my soul, in a way. The themes explored, the setting, the mood, the way it's shot ... it's all just so me. I got intefected with cyberpunk with Neuromancer and Gibson at a pretty early age and even though I eventually kinda grew out of it, or at least out of the juvenile infatuation with it, it is still my favourite futuristic (fictional) period.
