By Pappe Go To PostSometimes you need to sacrifice long term plans for short term goals.
Mou will be short term no doubt. He will implode eventually and quit or be sacked. But if we do not get the short term success we are dangerously close to becoming another Liverpool. Winning is a habit and it needs to be cultivated and stick to it. Being happy finishing 7th is not a good habit and we should not accept that.
We should not be happy with finishing in the top 4 and we should be challenging every year for the title.
Even if we sign Conte, Carlo or whoever you suggest that does not guarantee us a stable future. Mou is available. He is a world class manager. LVG is past it he has admitted it himself. Looking for a long term solution under Moyes and LVG did not work. So maybe it is now time to go for some short term success before we get lost in mediocrity.
By n8 Go To PostYou liked Fantastic Four though, Meus.
No, I said it wasn't as bad as some were saying. The first half of the film is actually quite good. The hyperbole surrounding that film is scary.
By Yurt Go To Postso you want a fresh start by transforming into Juventus FC?
Exactly :lol
If Madrid really want to change the culture around the club they have to follow in some of Pep's (and to a lesser extent Arsenal's) footsteps. Get rid of or put pressure on older spoiled stars. Put some real faith in La Fábrica. Identify a young manager with potential, and actually allow him a couple years- even if it means falling to places 4-7.
But this is a pointless post since it's a team where people have been baying for Rafa's head since his announcement, where the team is winning 10-2 and the fans are complaining, where they are calling for another manager change despite putting out good results in the CL and are literally TWO points off the top in the league from a strong Atleti and a Barcelona that just won the treble.

By n8 Go To PostLook, I'm a bit like Arnie and Klopp. I don't give that much of a fuck about the league title unless its shit like losing it in the last second like we did in 2012.
I like the moment. It's what makes you come back every week. It's what makes fans of clubs who have no hope of winning anything come back. Things like seeing Kane or Watmore or Vardy come to prominence. Things like seeing Welbz make it. Things like seeing Evra thundercunts versus the best team in the world. Things like outplaying Liverpool at Anfield on our way to a fourth place finish.
All of these moments, the fun and joy of week to week football are far more important to me than the endless thirst for a trophy under a guy I don't like who isn't about the moments. Call me a sentimental fuckwad. It's true. I preach the Arnie life.
Agree with this.
I am worried about how I will feel once Wenger is gone and we become a #modernfootball club.
My emotional connection will be severely severed.
Just hoping to be entertained at this point. Trophies are the end all for me as it is, but I would like Wenger to win the league before he goes.
Most of the top PL teams already just feel like big soulless corporations as it is.

I mean Pep's only done 4 seasons at Barca and 3 at Bayern.
He's less attritional than Mou but I'm not sure what long term values he necessarily instils. Barca have that system ingrained in them already, there was nothing for him to leave behind particularly in terms of style and philosophy.
Are Bayern going to maintain all he did when Ancelotti comes in?

Yup, the idea that a manager is going to come in an instill a style that will remain with the club beyond the managers stay is a pipe dream at this point.
This was the reason Bayern brought in Pep. To instill that Baca style of play.
Ancelotti will come in and implement his style.
Pep would be an evolution of our current playstyle, pick youth players and look to impose himself on football matches.

I agree with that but with the quality of our current youth I'm not sure many managers would bother using a most of them. While it's been nice seeing LvG use them they've not actually done a lot either unfortunately. The ones we thought would make it have gone by the wayside.
Wish we could fast forward to the point at which Klopp has made the changes he wants to make, and had those players for 6 months or so
Getting to that point will be painful, I feel.

I understanding the rational or what you saying but it's almost a paradox. There's no short cut to long term success, its highly unlikely your going to get a manager whos going got come in and give you sustained success for a long period of time from day one. You have to make a choice unfortunately. Hiring Jose just delays the process of long term success, stability etc., thats kind of why I feel the choice should be made now

This is why I hope we will never get our hands on a certified #goodmanager merc type like Pep. He wants flings. Arsenal needs a wife.
That's why i want our next man to emerge from relative obscurity, like Wenger did. I do expect a couple Bruce Riochs and Jack Craystons before that though.

Ehh, this is the hope, but as we have seen it is incredibly difficult.
We also have some of the least patient and understanding fans in the league so I would no be surprised if we hop on the manager marry go round pretty quickly.

The fans have been complaining about Wenger and a lack of spending and banners for years and years during the trophy drought. The board and split ownership only cares about one thing: YoY profitability and you don't get that from jumping into the 2 year manager/player spin cycle.

Obviously.
It's not about a piece of metal at the end of the day. And as I don't get paid £100k a week, my moral and emotional support will dependant on the joy I get from watching these games - and not the joy of having a millionaire salary. I'd rather be involved in an enthralling, high-scoring, dramatic final and lose than sit back and win 2-0 from two shots on target.

Whilst some fans identify their club as being made of values such as bringing forth youngsters, I consider my club as being primarily a team that sets out to win in style.
I can't understand why someone would be happy with merely getting a result, week in and week out, at the cost of any real enjoyment of the actual play. The creativity. When we were kids, we wanted to play FIFA Street - not play Football Manager with two holding midfielders.

Would you rather have Ozil or Fabregas right now? If you could swap today would you?
Darth Ranieri
Claudio Ranieri is top of the Premier League with Leicester City and has some interesting theories about Jose Mourinho.
The Italian manager is the surprise of the campaign in England and a victory over Chelsea saw his old nemesis Mou depart Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho hurled insults at Ranieri over the years, but there is no desire for revenge.
“Do you want to know the truth, the whole truth? I am truly disappointed for him,” Ranieri told dagospia.com.
“He said those things because he was afraid of me. That’s what Mourinho does, it’s his method with the opponent he wants to beat.
“Then, when I arrived here at Leicester, he was the first to send me a welcome message. When I embraced him at the end of the match, I was sincere.
“At this moment we are the anomaly, thanks also to the fact none of the big clubs are playing at the right level, but it cannot last. I am convinced, for example that Chelsea will climb back up quickly and I am also impressed with my friend Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.”
