By Cleff Go To PostWe don't have many good youth players tbf. One of the things coming out now is that the academy has not progressed in years. Fergie took his eye off the ball in that regard. One of the things LvG seems to have done right is recognise the deficiency and attempt to rectify it. But even if that's a success it'll be years before we see results.
It's weird that Chelsea have the best group of youth players of the lot really. Sad and possibly damning that Mou couldn't bring himself to utilise it even when things were going so poorly. Hope he manages to learn at some point. No way he's going to manage to create a dynasty if he doesn't work it out.

5th place in a one team league.
So good.
Exactly; Chelsea are routinely the best youth side around and they're doing fuck all with it. Not a good sign.
By Kidjr Go To PostIt depends what you want, if the board are able to take a long term view an perhaps give another less experienced manager a shot. I think Utd have been totally put off by that idea because what happened with Moyes, however I think the idea in principal is a good one. lvg was bought in to paper over cracks and you'd be doing the same with Mourinho. I do think things like stability are important to clubs like MUFC and think they would rather not be a revolving door like others (correct me if I'm wrong) but if that be the case I really do think it's going to be a case of giving a rising star a chance. When I say long term I don't neccasrily mean being there 20 years but more like 6+ seasons.
Thing is our much lauded financial dominance will now only be sustained by short term success.
If you want a blunt assessment of this club: We need short term success to stay financially dominant. Amusingly, it's clubs like City and Chelsea that could better afford the risk of a long-term project that doesn't bring immediate success.
We're probably going to end up with Mourinho which will maybe stabilise us for the next few seasons. We'll probably play better football than we do now, but not the free flowing stuff the fans crave. Which is fine, but we really need to be on the lookout for someone who can progress the team because unless a miracle occurs Mou won't be in it for the long haul.

That's why he didn't use the younger players much.

Even if that's correct it's still utterly unhinged.
What about Ståle Solbakken?
Proven winner
Can go through a champions league group stage
Uses the youth players
Once posed nude together with other Norwegian footballers
Great at celebrating
Would probably get into an actual fight with Pardew, Klopp and so on.
Died once playing for Copenhagen. But no he turned out to be just like Jesus and was resurrected.

don't forget the only thing that saved Pep the pussy last time he met Ståle, was the fact that Biscuits rescued him.
He is ready.
Please take him away from us.

By Laboured Go To PostEven if that's correct it's still utterly unhinged. He's that kind of guy lol. I think the premise of hiring him on the basis of giving him a couple or three seasons and then parting ways, while you remain title contenders for that time and look for a manager that fits the criteria you want, works well enough. The problem is then justifying a change of management if Mourinho wins 2 or 3 league titles.

No.
But I remember when he got Copenhagen through as the first Danish team ever, to the knockout phase of CL.
I was almost crying. We all hugged, random people I did not know as well. What a time to be alive.
