Why?
What is so wrong with liking it?
Is it a classic? No, but I can still enjoy it.
And I will always question anyone who criticises my taste in films.

I’ve been watching every Star Wars movie in numerical order for the past 4 days, one per day.
The Empire Strikes Back tonight.
Porto strikes back in February.
I’m so sorry Penny.

I think it is far more enjoyable than any of the Tolkien universe movies. As I sad, the pacing is perfect, not once did I feel bored.

Never done it in numerical order. That and playing MGS in chronological order seem so wrong to me lol.
Gosh I love ESB
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostIt is part of why I love Star Wars so much. Amazing that nearly 40 years after the original and new generations of kids still discover and love it.To my gigantic surprise, the theater in my home island is actually showing Star Wars in the opening week, they never do that as movies are more expensive to show on the opening weeks and they only charge 3€ for a ticket (2€ if is on a Monday) but it´s already proving to be a smart idea as they sold 1000 tickets in the first 12h, which is a lot for an island with only 50.000 and where people are not used to buying tickets 2 weeks early as it´s very rare for the place to sold out.
OMG, as I was writing this I let the credits role and for the first time ever noticed that Vader's breathing is the last thing you hear.
As it stands, all 7 showings for the week are sold out. There´s never been a movie that sold out that many sessions in the Island.
My younger sister only started watching Star Wars recently. We are currently both studying far away from home so we only get to go back on holidays. I have my tickets for the day after she arrives, it´s going to be great to watch it with her. There really is something different about Star Wars, it´s more than a franchise, it´s a worldwide event that continues to gather fans of all ages.

I owned the Darth Maul figure before the movie ever came out, along with various magazines and behind-the-scenes guides that basically spoiled the entire thing. After my half-dozenth or so viewing in theaters, I owned countless figures and spaceships and other mass-marketing paraphernalia; I had a telescoping lightsaber (blue, of course), 4 different battle droids with different markings and simulated battle scarring, and a whole team of pitdroids. I 100%ed the podracing game on 64 (Bullseye Navior, motherfuckers!). I practically worshipped Ewan Kenobi (the only thing between me and a Padawan braid was my mother's autocratic sensibilities).
Goddamn, what an amazing movie.
Sorry, I forgot the D on the end of "love." I had very questionable taste as a child.

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostJust finished Episode 1, not gonna lie, I have always loved it.Have you tried the anti-cheese cuts though?
Sure the writing isn't the greatest, the Gungans are over the top sillyness, and the CGI can be a bit jarring.
But I still think it is awesome, the pacing is perfect, the action is brilliantly shot, and it has the best lightsaber battle in the series.
Also had the best lesson ever with my favourite class today. As soon as I walked in one of the boys said only three more days till Star Wars and the class just spent 50 minutes talking about Star Wars.

The fights in the original trilogy were choreographed but they weren't so flamboyant and ridiculous. Jedi are Knights, not kung fu masters. Luke and Vader fought in ways that befit their personalities and reflect the status and meaning of what a Jedi should be in that universe.
The worst thing about the prequels are the characters though. They look like they should be likable but have nothing interesting nor charismatic about them.

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostWhy is Lucas a shit head?Because he's a self-aggrandizing blowhard who constantly goes back to edit his own history to make himself seem far more intelligent than he actually is.
Congratulations, Lucas: you read Hero with a Thousand Faces, Dune, and the Foundation trilogy, then put them through the Hollywood centrifuge until they were sufficiently schlocky.

No-Fun-Allowed cuts that destroy the Darth Jar Jar premise.
Just show them the original prequels. They are stylistically designed to be this shit, and you can't diminish the effects of that with fan cuts.
I've watched ep 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the last few days. Only ep 6 left. What a time.
4 and 5 are great. 3 is enjoyable. 2 is the worst

The fights in the original are terrible They look like what you would expect from a guy who has just learned to fight and a tin man. What makes the fights so memorable is the tension, the dialogue, and the score.
these guys have learnt to weild lightsabers since they were very young and train every day, you would assume they would be proficient in using them. And the kung fu master, as you would put it, is there in a way with Luke jumping out of the carbonite chamber. The superhuman abilities have always been part of what a Jedi can do.
Episode 1 is the first time we see two fully trained and at their peak warriors do battle and for me it was awesome, before we get the more over the top stuff in 2 and 3

You said Episode I is more enjoyable than any Tolkien film.
ESB's fight has actual dramatic heft to it in a way TPM's can't match. The introduction of Vader, the tension as Luke is creeping around through the broken window, Vader's ferocity, the ending of the fight, the hum of the lightsabers and the seemingly endless pause before they lock swords, the lighting and smoke effects... so much better than TPM's (which is admittedly the best part of the entire prequel trilogy).
By Shanks D Zoro Go To Posterrr what?I won't go mining through the hundreds (thousands?) of interviews he's given over the past 4 decades, because it's something I cared about when I was approximately 14, not something I give a shit about now; but if you read them in quick succession you'll discover his autobiographical mythologizing is utterly corrupted with continuity errors.
