By Dissonance Go To PostIf we let Musonda and RLC leave it better not turn into a Pogba situation.Sounds like paper nonsense right now. I mean, certainly clubs are doing their due diligence and monitoring the situation, but I doubt there's anything set in stone.
As we know, RLC is prime for an extension (has one year remaining). He couldn't be in a better position given how poor his competition at the club have been over the last eight months. If the board is set on sticking with Mourinho, and providing funds next summer, then I don't see any reason why RLC wouldn't have his future sorted at the same time. If Mou has a role for him--he'll resign. If not, he'll end up at Saints, or Hammers, or Juve and then breakout and be bought in two years by City for £65m.
Charly I'm not concerned about. He extended his contact back in the spring and should be loaned out next year before being reevaluated in 18 months.
There's a Liverpool-based journalist who I really enjoy reading/listening to in podcasts named Melissa Reddy, she's super intelligent, knows a lot about football and tends to be the best voice in the room wherever she is.
Turns out she's also damn cute. 😲

I just read the news about Real Madrid. How is it possible to not have control over that? By the way, why aren't supposedly suspended players always blocked from even being allowed for registration in matches they're banned from?
By Freewheelin Go To PostWhen is Brenton coming back to the PL.Poor Brendan, he'll never live that quote down. To be fair, he didn't actually say defending is easy, he said its easy to stick 10 men behind the ball instead of trying to create goals.

I would like to propose this as December's thread title.
(Since the current Vardy one makes us look like LADBible wankers)
Agree with Pele.
Cazorla and Coq injuries aren't really preventable. It happens in football.
Obviously it shouldn't derail our season like it will. That is on Wenger.
Sanchez and Theo injuries are poor management.
Ramsey, Ox and Wilshere all are just injury prone and it's hard to blame Wenger when the wind blowing might cause one of them to miss 3 months.
edit: It sounds like everyone was in agreement on that page. Some injuries you can't prevent but they shouldn't derail your season because you should have a deeper squad because some injuries you can't prevent so you should have a deeper squad and on and on and on and on.
It's especially infuriating because of our history with injuries and we haven't really seen an improvement in that area other than a nice little period last season.

It's all right this all part of Rafa's master plan to
He knows our medical staff is terrible so in order to reduce the percentages of injuries and increase the general fitness of the team he had to sacrifice one competition.

Not saying their injuries are preventable (nor do I think Pele was saying that either really), just that they aren't some sort of bad luck. Their injuries are not outliers for first team players over an EPL season, especially not for Arsenal.

I would say 3 months out is an outlier. How many players were out last season for a period of 3 months because of one injury?
Especially for two players whose injury record is very good.
And before anyone says "yeah, but Arsenal" Santi has had a very good injury record while at Arsenal.
Both happening at the same time is also pretty shit luck. There is obviously no connection between the two so I would say that is pretty bad luck.

Especially when you go through a phase where nobody is injuried and players aren't even making it on the bench.
Bayern are pretty much on point with that, they also got pretty versatile players, so they can adept to multiple situations.

I still remember the day Fergie retired and it was rumoured that Moyes would take over. I denied it as being just a silly rumour because who would be so fucking stupid as to hire him as a United manager. God what an awful fucking year of my life.

Agreed. It requires more rotation and you can't just play 1 starting 11 for 10 games in a row. Other player need a sufficient amount of time so when they come into the starting 11 they can contribute.
Wenger is all about chemistry and so he prefers having one starting 11 that will play every game until they get injured.

Still renember when our old CEO almost ruined the club and we were nearly bankrupt.
Luckily the shareholders were smart enough to vote for the recovery plan.

I don't think Ed Woodward actually knew how to sign players at that point.

So I pretty much doubt it.
There would have been other targets though.
By Laboured Go To PostI don't think Ed Woodward actually knew how to sign players at that point. From a financial point of view, he made a fantastic job from day one.
If you know how to look at these numbers and have a bit more knowledge than
, you could see that he was spot on with that.
However his non existent knowledge of other factors you need within the job, really costed United alot.
Quite suprised that Fergie didn't stay there as consultant and was part of some negotations.
I mean you still see that Woodward is a bit green behind his ears with targeting players like Müller, but he still improved alot.
Nothing is more hilarious than Fergie letting Pogba go and play Scholes & Giggs..That was the beginning of the fall

He's not as terrible as some might think. He obviously knows he's still spending within the club's means. It seems he wants a big galatico because he thinks that getting one genuinely outweighs the initial expenditure, and honestly he probably knows more about money than me.

Sorry I should have described it better, with the other factors I meant his lacking experience in player negotations, scouting , and generally some things that are pretty specific for that job.
That costed United alot in terms of points. Moyes was obviously no big help for him either, so you had a coach going to his first really big club with little to no experience for that and a manager who barely had any clue about football.
He is growing into it now and LvG experience should help him alot.

I think Woodward wants a fuck-off Galactico signing as a statement of intent and prestige to the fans and the investors at the club more so than for footballing reasons. He probably also wants a big signing under his belt, so to speak.
It's good United brought in a manager like Van Gaal who isn't afraid to butt heads with the financiers. All of LVG's signings haven't been cheap but they've been players who mesh with what he's trying to do at the club. Di Maria wasn't the worst of that bunch but you can tell he was a total misfit in that squad. If Van Gaal had let Woodward sign who he wanted, you'd have a mess of a team with no balance.

Just gonna decline to comment on the shooting in California. Too many things to say on that topic and I'm not sure much of anything intelligent is gonna come out of me in the case of such terrible violence.
Fargo was great this week.
Kinda curious what they're gonna offer in the finale.
Really suprised how good this season has been, or maybe I was just cautious before, thanks to True Detective S2.

They connected it well with the first season and just got a few some similarities, and still this season stands so well on it's own.
Game Awards tonight Odd. Hopefully with a decent lineup and announcements, and PSX on Saturday.
Will have to watch that on TV and Dortmund on my PC. :/
