I went to a bratwurst festival in the black forest once. I'm an expert on culinary delights.
There was one dish in particular, it was plain bratwurst, thick sliced onions and a kind of thin dark brown sauce
Any ideas on what that sauce could be? Vaguely remember it tasting a little of red wine.
Would make a great sauce for chicken and rice

By Hitch Go To PostPenny plsWhite/ Red wine, butter, drippings / stuff left in the pan. Maybe a thickner. Good gravy isn't super complicated.

By Hitch Go To PostWhat is American gravy made from?A lot of people can be too lazy to reduce the gravy over heat, to let the liquid evaporate. So they'll use a thickener like flour or corn starch.
Don't want none of that shite
By Hitch Go To PostPenny plsLike that ?

It's just called onion sauce, you'll find plenty of recipes online, if you look for Bratwurst onion sauce.
Allthough they vary pretty much. Some use red or white wine and different elements.
Sorry just not so familiar with it.
Most popular version is still the Currywust.
Personally I just eat Bratwurst with bread rolls and without any sauce/ketchup/mustard.
By P S Y C H Go To Postlooks expensiveIt's actually dirt cheap.
Had a currywurst in berlin. Hit the spot, was great.
(May have been drinking).
That looks like the stuff, will look it up
What we call onion sauce over here is just liquefied onions I think

Currywurst I had in Berlin tasted just like a hotdog smothered in ketchup, didn't get the hype
I mean it was decent, but if Psy posted a picture of it here it would fit in with the rest of the shit

By P S Y C H Go To Postlooks expensiveGravy is basically the leftover of meat.
I guess non-processed meat is a little expensive...
By Hitch Go To PostMust have been a shite currywurst thenidk
Pretty sure it was from Konnopke's Imbiss and it seems pretty recommended
By Facism Go To Postpsych have you tried your neighbour's trash bins yet?sounds expensive
By Vlatko Go To PostidkNot a big fan of their stuff.

Their Bratwurst is without skin, which is already pretty shit.
They're also using a griddle instead of a grill, which isn't particularly helpful for the taste. It still works, but a proper Bratwurst needs to be made on a grill.
Regarding the curry sauce, it's a tomato based sauce and usually good places should have their own recipe. Some lazy places just take ketchup instead...but as I said, I'm not a fan of the sauce anyway and I'll just eat the Bratwurst itself.
Posted it in the cooking topic, but that's how a proper Bratwurst should look like and how I make it :
By Hitch Go To PostThat looks like the stuff, will look it upOnly had it like once in my life. The recipes that came up, sounded pretty good though.

The place in my town sells Currywurst for 2,30 € and Bratwurst for 1,90 €.

place was emmmmpty tonight, slim pickings. Found some rice in the ffreezer and a can of iberia black beans.
-I really wanted to emulate pollo tropical black beans, because they taste so good. these, not so much. Threw in some flour to make it thicker, warmed it up in the microwave, still didn't taste so hot. At this point I just started throwing in anything I found in the cupboard, onion powder, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, mrs.dash, red pepper etc.
-mixed it with the left over rice and I don't know if it was the rice or the beans but something tasted a little off.
-threw in some ketchup and ranch dressing to off set the taste and it's edible, eating it rn.

Food shouldn't be a tightrope walk of putting as much shite in a bowl as it takes for the flavours to cancel eachother out
Buy some pilau seasoning if you can, then you won't need to spice your rice up with random powders

By HasphatsAnts Go To PostPSY do you have a rice cooker?Yeah i just use the rice cooker and put the left overs in the freezer
By P-SY Go To PostI left some rice inside the rice cooker for about 4 or 5 days. Is that still edible if I put it in the freezer?
By P-SY Go To PostUpdate. I ate the 5 day old rice and I'm feeling okay.
This is how he treats rice come on son.
Man I should read this thread more often. Love it.
I once forgot a rice cooker half full of rice, for almost 2 weeks while going to Iceland. That shit wasn't edible, it had rotten so badly that my whole appartement stank and there was lots of nasty ass flies.
Elsk would probably still have eaten it.
