Guys I just read some quotes from D'Angelo. I legit think he might actually have a good game tonight. I haven't been impressed with his quotes going back to the introductory press conference. The dude just needs to attack even if he's slow, just protect the ball, get into the lane and good things will eventually happen.
Maybe this is just blind optimism trying to trick myself into not worrying that he just might be pure trash.

Yea Scott is pretty bad. If your big idea was to have Russell play off ball and you're jettisoning that after game 1 - you don't know what you're doing.
They're using some triangle actions. Some horns actions. Some corner series stuff - actually A LOT of corner series stuff. They could run the triangle pass to the post with Kobe at the weekside forward slot, Hibbert in the post, Russell bringing the ball up and cutting to and from the corner, Clarkson at the top and Randle at the wing.
Randle giving a screen to Kobe to flash for an open FT line jumper would work well. If there's a switch, Randle can just seal off the smaller player under the rim and either get an offensive board or a direct pass for a layup. If that fails they can do the two man game with Clarkson and Kobe - lots of good things happen when Kobe's setting a screen.
My issue with Russell is I have no idea what do for him. He should feast on PnR but he just stands around 35 feet from the basket. It's just his thing. But he's not a guy who runs off screens for a catch and shoot, either.

That first play is what I'm talking about with Kobe as D Will and Randle as Cleanthony. Only way to really stop it if it's executed well and a good screen is set is if you switch, then Randle can just seal off the smaller guard and get a direct pass. Should work 2-4 times a game. They did it again with him at the 1:40 mark of the video. You can even run it for Russell with Kobe setting the pick, easy free throw jumper for Russell because no one will leave Kobe to defend D'Angelo.

Best defense against GS is securing the ball--don't turn it over and play physical basketball in order to hopefully get one of the splash bros in some kind of foul trouble--particularly Klay.
