Said First Take's Stephen A. Smith: "It is a damn shame that Kobe has to go out this way, but it is over. They (the Lakers franchise) neglected Kobe Bryant, left him to hang out and dry."What? lmao
Lakers acquiesced that motherfucker every step of the way.

Say how you really feel.
Of course you would hone in on that. Shocking. I call people motherfuckers in an endearing way all the time.

By reilo Go To PostWhat? lmaoWhat are you talking about? They obviously didn't try hard enough to sign LeBron, Bosh, or Melo when they were free agents and didn't even attempt to trade for Curry or AD. It's really not asking that much to make those moves in order to surround Kobe with the talent needed for him to lead the Lakers to victory!

I didn't question you calling Wes a motherfucker in an endearing way.
But gtfoh with you trying to pretend that what you just said was a form of endearment. C'mon man.
If you're all up in my head like you truly think you are, then just go ahead and listen to what I am truly thinking right now.

Same. The Love Contract skit was some shit.

I'd be happy to be Porzi at this point, stuff SAS defends is either sad (Kobe) or gross (DV).

No he did not. He did it for fun in all star games maybe twice, but he wouldn't do it in regular games.

i saw virtually all laker games during the shaq era.
it was a rare occurance.
even Chick Hearn was surprised with the coast to coast in the first yt link.
that should give you an indication on how much he went coast to coast.

How is this relevant? That's like saying Jason Kidd could get up because he dunked a handful of times.

Shout out to baby face RoLo and Amundson warmin the bench.
What the hell are we talking about? You do realize you could find 10 occurrences, it still would be 10 occurences out of 1200 games times 80 offensives possessions, just for the regular season? It's not something he did. It's basically a handful of times out of 100 000 possessions.

I think we're talking about that Shaq was skilled enough where he could go coast-to-coast by himself, which was super rare for a big man his size to do. The fact that we can find examples of him doing it in games dozens of times over his career is the point, not that he did it game-to-game.

Find one a season and I'd be amazed.
As for wording things better, sure, sometimes I do things a bit too quickly, english is not my native language.
By Gabyskra Go To PostYou're being literal. I obviously meant it was not part of an arsenal. It wasn't obvious to me when you said he did it a couple times during All-Star games and not during the regular season. Using numbers describing the number of times he did it in All-Star games implied to me that you were also using them in the same argument regarding regular season.

I mean, if there was a stat that tracked big men above the height of 7' going coast-to-coast, I think Shaq would be at top of the list. It's just harder to quantify and we are all basing this off our memories, especially since his prime was pre-YouTube era.
At the same time, I saw Mason Plumlee go coast-to-coast by himself last night and dunk the ball during a crucial 4th quarter play, but I wouldn't use it to qualitatively say Plumlee was as skilled as Shaq.
By Gabyskra Go To PostThat's fair. He's the one thing keeping me from being completely "Fuck da Knicks" this season at every opportunity.
Anyway, we should talk about Porzingis more.
Shaq ran coast to coast at least once a week when he was on the Magic. Wtf. How is this even a debate? The footage is more difficult to find because it's so old, but I remember it clear as day.
Here's another example at 1:55 during the Magic days.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-PpSQhyJgw
He was probably the only big man in the league who could keep up with a guard or forward leading a fastbreak and be the one who finishes it. Not quite what we are arguing here, but still goes to show his speed in his younger days was incredible.
Edit: 2:42 mark.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RgEwVdQV78
But he passed it off for the assist.

This is a pretty cool post that uses graphs to describe a little about the style of play of all the teams over the past two years:

By Omzz Go To PostSo do you love plumbeast yet? He's a nice player. I think he's a really good role player. I don't think he's necessarily a guy that makes a team a contender, but it might make a contender better. He's also on a super cheap contract and his level of production for how much he's paid he becomes a great replacement for RoLo and is better at certain things like passing and getting to the line. Having him on the team makes Portland look like they have four NBA-quality starters rather than just two or three on a good night.
